Redundant Abundance
Zachary May 2013
Vitamin Forest
nurture in nature
healing the soreness
from legislature

metropolitan heart
the sreets pulse like veins
each hour depart
clogged artery trains

a lifeless appendage
bleeding the suburb
with no one to bandage
deluge to each curb

renewable resource
found in rurality
we ask for remorse
draught, virus plurality

Human being cancer
lets all dissolve
to find out the answer
and utter resolve
if the soul of a monster's
sins be absolved

Family tree
Zachary May 2013
An acorn falls down from itself
change is only made in time
and near where that acorn had fell
it's dryad form doth mime

Twice in its life the acorn falls
down great halls the portraits keep
the acorns that fall infinately
members of his family tree

They sow then grow
but leave the reap
to the subtle pull
of gravity

Court Jesters Rhyme
Zachary May 2013
Why waste my words
on those with none
oh how absurd
the fun in fun

Go three steps back
and turn around
take what you lack
put head in ground

Poke out your eyes
and try to see
past your disguise
then talk to me

Shove foot in mouth
for good this time
no time to pout
you pantomime

sorry gestures
still wasting time?
flies to pester
court jesters rhyme

You silly fool
you little clown
go back to school
keep your head down

Or dance for kings
a jokesters dance
the canary sings
of lost romance

A trickster soon
will you become
you poor buffoon
where now the fun?

Just dance and spin
look, now clearer
you harlequinn
within my mirror

I'll set you free
pathetic pawn
broken glass spree
oh wait, you're gone...

sad times they are a-plenty
bad times should be forgot

as what's easy is to none

Tick-Talk
Zachary May 2013
A clock to watch the time
the seconds ticktock beat
like heart in chest
or foot on street

One handed mid-night chime
morning comes before the sun
two hands to meet again
in the post-meridian

The moon, she is sublime
my clock and her share faces
but only once a month
a matched homeostasis

And the golden summer days
turn to frigid winter nights
autumn romp in leaves
spring spent flying kites

The child in us parts ways
the ticktocking beat remains
time accelerates
the moon begins to wane

The years become a haze
the months replace the days
seconds don't exist
your memory disobeys

your life is just a tick
your death is soon to talk
years, they go by quick
while we sit
and watch
the clock...

What's Murdering the night?
Zachary May 2013
What's murdering the night?
the crimson curtains rise
the blackened blood seeps through
the skies of newfound blue

the panthers feign delight
lusting successful stalking
is killed by death of night
no need of morning light

the Solar hidden scene
behind a prime meridian
morsels made of smoky quartz
encased in smooth obsidian

What's murdering the night?
open floodgates pour out dreams
as everybody sleeps
the broken darkness screams

October Blues

Listen to October sing
the dancin' breeze
through leafless trees
the stabbin' cold in every thing

And to his narrow
tree branch brings'
a raven claimin'
oh, most everything

"Ring-ting-jingling"
catch that chimin' bird a ringin'
nine o'clock
nine times in stock to chime
and that old birds wastin' no time

Eternal Nocturne
Zachary May 2013
A fluid ray of sunshine
extinguished on a distant hill
the songs of chorus birds unwind
replaced by silence and the still

The colors fade from gray to black
the yawns of life retreat in smoke
the moon commanding tides fall back
now swell in joy as she awoke

The moth protects the stubborn light
the shade now cools the well-fed tree
the wind passes in sheer delight
laughing at all the irony

The wolf-song keeps the Earth in tune
to pirouette in space-eternal
and walz forever with the moon
a show half-missed by the diurnal

Silence for Tyrants
Zachary May 2013
I lost my words today
I woke to a note
that reads;

"We've decided to go
and make our own way
you're killing us slow
from the dumb **** you say
We leave you with silence
may that suit your life better
I know it will ours.
Love,
verse, line and letter"

What can be done?
I wondered away
without joke or pun
what more can I say?

Cold Retreat
Zachary May 2013
Breathing in the dead of night
mouth to mouth resuscitation
cloudy plumes so soft and white
drying tears of condensation

Dawning light through misty veil
orange snow and burning sky
rooftop crystals, glass glazed rail
ice is in no short supply

Watching winter close the curtain
to another year come and gone
none the wiser of this I'm certain
like the moon and tide, I've withdrawn

No truth, No lie
Zachary May 2013
It never ends
nothing does
the day-old friends
who leave because

they'd not arrived
though never die
they're always there
within the eye

that see's all things
under the sky
it doesn't blink
though sometimes lies

of enemies
in friendly guise

Beware of change
that's found in time
for nothing can
remain sublime

though nothing ends
as change suggests
only supplies
your mind a test

to remember not
what seldem is
soon forgot

like birds set free
that fleeting thought
of what cannot be

A Summer's Thaw
Zachary May 2013
Amidst a crowd
and silent roar
I spoke aloud
but to the floor

No one heard
or dared repeat
my spoken word
under their feet

For none could place
within the torrent
my hidden face
where life lay dorment

Though from the ground
after the snow
words rebound
and seeds do grow

A Waste of Wasted Days
Zachary May 2013
What wasted days we share
the hours we breathe like air
they float away
and bleed the day
Though we have no need to care

Our time is fuel to burn
our bonfires never adjourn
although they may
turn night to day
night cannot be had out of turn

Footsteps are laid to be traced
to follow at memories pace
but to me, aren't there
if there are not two pair
wasted days, without you, are a waste

Kings of Cons
Zachary May 2013
What if the world is ending
and our future's not for long
what if we're merely bending
what's been broken all along

How long can we be silent
to our fellow passers-by
wondering where our time went
living, dying to know why

Where oh where can love be found?
in this twisted human race
**** the West, then march Eastbound
we're no doubt nature's disgrace

And what's to say about dismay?
that somehow we've not yet gotten
money is all they take for pay
to confess our sins, forgotten

The searing flame, I've learned to tame
to appease those in fear of fire
you fool yourselves in search of fame
honesty creates the liar

And who's to blame behind the shame?
the king, or we, the lowly pawns
to us of course it's all the same
oh well, long live we kings of cons

But what if we're just lonely?
what is right becomes all wrong
what happens when "if only"
means "i've waited much too long"

Born to do anothers bidding
live to bite the hook
to satisfy the needs of others
to walk uneven ground

Live to serve
confuse the ruse
hit the nerve
bad news in two's

Imprisoned in a woolen jacket
trapped within the skin
solace in an iron maiden
sleep on bed of nails

Injected with fear and anger
beat to death with love
laughed at and shamed by passing stranger
because you cannot rise above

on the heels of the conundrum
the problem lies with what we lack
on our merry way we go

Friendleconomics
Zachary May 2013
the problems I've crossed
with what people sell you
the higher the cost
the lower the value

so lower the price
to less than you've got
don't even think twice
at a penny a thought

then soon you will see
when you give it away
that you become free
from the price that you pay

to buy what you sell
then spend what you make
for the lower you dwell
the higher the stake

in life there's a chance
to earn what you make
by learning to give
and forgetting to take

then you will make love
and give away more
and isn't that sort of
the best thing to live for?

For whom the willow weeps
Zachary Mar 2014
I think I'm starting to believe
that my memories
are more real than me
That as I dream
I am awake
and while I give
I really take

Although I know just what need
I give my love
and pain and greed
without intent
to you, receive
my branches, roots
fruit and seed

for how the leaf takes of the sun
and for whom
the willow weeps
I crave for you
through days of drought
rain, frost
and the reap

and as autumn is a prelude
may our winters never come
for my springtime dreams
manifests anew
every memory of you
with each setting summer sun

The World I Love
Zachary Apr 2015
I always manage to forget
that the world I love does not exist
because the world in true is full of ghosts
of both sinners and the never-kissed

The world I love is green and blue
and oft takes on a reddish hue
and she promises a stoney-smile
where memories only last a while

But the world in true is smokey-grey
that lingers like an open wound
it sparks and burns then fades away
for nothing here is long to stay

Our poisoned food is roots and sand
and our welcome home is jealousy
for if you find repose in a lovers hand
she'll cast them off like sea from land

For in this world where fortune's cruel
and the air's awash with boney-dust
happy is the lonely fool
who speaks in tongues of moss and rust

But in between my lack and toil
sometimes I see the black clouds part
I feel my toes claw at the soil
as tears bleed from my weathered heart

And when at last, to sleep I try
I fight the dreams I can't resist
for there is no color to the sky
and the world I love does not exist

Adolescent Essence
Zachary Mar 2014
A joke or a riddle
I cannot decide
which note I could fiddle
from which punch-line to hide

Questions pending
answers not true
the universe isn't ending
the ocean's not blue

Something new everyday
many books left to burn
smart enough now to say
that the wise never learn

Somehow ahead, but always behind
my life must catch up with my mind

Inside I am sleeping
outside of my head
my soul isn't keeping
what my eyes have been fed

In time I'll forget you
or so you might think
my memory is untrue
as my eyes tend to blink

Though I always remember
what was once important
if I could somehow dismember
perceptions mossy distortions

Then perhaps I will find
a part of me that went missing
before I rallied behind
this big boot I've been kissing

Oh that shame and the mystery
behind aiming at history

Who am I? I wonder
for the last time I was free
were the days I was younger
back when I knew me

But I didn't know then
that now I'd be thinking
of my innocent friend
imagining me without blinking

Because I was meaning
back when I was dreaming
to make someone of meaning
of the person now screaming

Inside can't stop fighting
with the author of the book
that I'm writing

Lonely
Zachary Mar 2015
How hard does this
thing gotta be?
a blinding world outside
and a world inside
too dark to see

What confuses you
also
confuses
me

Leaders too scared to lead
peacekeepers fighting wars
within
themselves

Endless insecurity
even though
nobody knows
just what
the ****
they're doing

Why are we afraid?
Why do we feel we
must
know?

Can't we
just
be happy to
just
understand?

And you
all you need to do
is take my hand

Because
I get this feeling
like I've been here
before

And you were here
too
But you don't seem to remember
that you are indeed
you

And, I think
that you're me too
because...

because when you really think about it
we're not so different
you and I

we both enjoy a good laugh
good enough
to make you cry

We both love
I know it
the warmth
in sitting close

And don't you love
that gleam in the eye
when we both
have the same thought?

or that weird
moment
when it feels like years
between each
shared
heartbeat

But we've all been told
this shouldn't be
That there is only
one right way to see
and I know that
you trust them
more than you
trust me

You and I are the same
except that you
are so much more
interesting

...And I think
it's because
you trust them
more than you
trust me

They're probably right
after all
it's not so bad
being lonely

first to laugh
first to cry
first to see the
reason why

none of this
makes any sense
because the problems'
in the eye

Am I the only one
that feels like
lifes a game?
Because
Everywhere you go's
the same
and nothing ever seems
to change, until...

Nevermind
you're fine
just keep doing...
whatever the hell
you were doing
when I met you

As for me?
more of the same
because
reasons' only half the game
