desire, as cold
WordWerks May 2017
desire is not a spark,
an ember or a flame
it's a bleak and sometimes
unbearable cold

since desire cannot be
quenched or suffocated,
by food, sleep, ***, being
or success, desire can only
warm, if just briefly

spring rain
WordWerks May 2017
i am a party-crasher,
a spider web across the face.
around me, i hear the
chitter of birds and the
nervous giggles of people
scurrying under my wet
confetti, my glitter bomb,
as i write my graffiti
everywhere

i am a party-crasher.
though, i'm neither invited and don't
know those around me, nor
do i care about their
awkwardness or petty
concerns and desires.
i'm here to party, but more
importantly, i know how to
celebrate.

my mason jar heart
WordWerks May 2017
my mason jar heart,
chipped, cracked, stained with wine,
has often been filled
with tears for those gone,
romantic picnics,
porch evenings on
swings or rocking chairs,
too many secrets,
but great memories.

the road
WordWerks Apr 2017
a road is a line
with infinite points
of departures but
finite number of
destinations

a road sometimes has
flowers on the side
but occasionally
one grows in the road
against all odds

but just because you
do not stay on the
line neither means you
are lost, nor that you
are not on path

The Tigress
WordWerks Apr 2017
The tigress stalks the jungle.
Her muscles ripple to testify to her strength.
Her eyes and ears are keen.

Is she looking for prey or is this a game cats play?

I wonder if she knows how dangerous she is
(She already own my heart)
Or does she know how willingly I give it?

WordWerks Aug 2016
there's a place
where there are no masks
not the teacher, the poet,
the lover or the scoundrel
only a trickle of blood,

inedible vegetables,
tasteless stuffing, and bland sides,
but there's nothing better to
remind us that we are home

come to me
WordWerks Nov 2015
come to me, like spring days,
after a hard winter;
make me forget the cold;
warm my heart with your smile
and your glance

come to me, like a storm
full of danger, yet hope
that all things are renewed
and the worst may have past
just briefly

come to me, like a song,
which so reverberates
and continually
repeats without an end,
in my head

come to me in quick steps,
dropping your gown on floor
and sliding your body
between the flannel sheets
next to me

Invocation
WordWerks Nov 2015
From the center of Love,
May love stretch across the earth
And fill the hearts of men.

From the center of Will
May purpose guide the wills of men,
Permitting mindfulness in our thoughts.

From the point of Light,
May light descend upon the earth
And fill the spirit of men

May love and mindfulness and light restore the Plan on earth.

Zombie Lover
WordWerks Apr 2013
When the zombies soon awaken,
If I'm not quite mistaken,
They'll seem like they're kinda ******.
Now, Snow White, for example,
In a story most dreadful,
She just needed to be kissed.

And Rip Van Winkle also
Was a long sleeping fellow,
Lost twenty years and felt gypped.
Instead of all that blasting
And small-minded type casting,
Pucker those ruby red lips.

The Choice
WordWerks Mar 2013
Prometheus, the joker, he
offered Zeus a choice of tributes:
An egg, a chocolate covered
With foil, the delicious covered
With the inedible or
Chicken wings; perhaps they were ribs,
The unpalatable concealed
Within the gratifying and
Delectable.

And, when given the same choice, I
Choose the charming, the beguiling,
The delightful exterior,
With unappealing core, rather
Than attempt to find that nugget,
Hidden within its thin veneer
And certainly worth the effort.
I find lusciousness is much more
Pleasurable.
WordWerks Mar 2013
After some sunsets
Even the coldest winter
Often makes me smile.

It's always been such:
Yin is a part of the the yang;
Yang's part of the yin.

When horrific death
Rises, so does the laughter,
For spring remembers.
