Recovery, Initially, is about knowing;  Knowing that change is necessary, Accepting that your life is not where you want it to be,  About facing up to your fears and anxiety Then taking the first step eventually… When you, and you alone, feel you are ready. Recovery, Critically, demands pure honesty, requires the utmost integrity Most Especially, when confronting your past traumas, your history Though it may make you feel angry, sad and often times guilty This process is key if you really want to move on, to change truly.     Recovery, Truthfully, is far from easy,  It can be fraught with challenges, setbacks, difficulty. It can hurt physically and even worse emotionally, Testing your will power to the extremity. It takes great Strength, Courage and Bravery; Determination, Resilience, in the face of adversity Recovery, Thankfully, need not be a lonely journey, Though you alone must take ultimate responsibility. There are lots of supports out there happily; from good friends, family and in your community Though it can be hard to ask for help, understandably…Let not pride undermine your recovery. Recovery, Ultimately, is about getting where it is you want to be, about starting anew daily About achieving realistic goals you have set regularly, Learning from the process; what worked successfully Starting to believe in yourself gradually, Gaining an insight into what you are capable of ...potentially Finally, Recovery is for all, a lifelong journey, Guarding against ambivalence, relapse, constantly. Knowing that every day will, in reality,  pose real threats for you in your recovery But every day also presents an opportunity… to engage with, enjoy, your life more fully.

Morsi stands among his people as an expression of Egypt's democratic will democratically elected his feet are rooted in the constitutional right to rule Morsi has one foot on a pillar of secular democracy promising to uphold Egypt's journey to an egalitarian future this pillar advances the republican ideal that safeguards diversity and a people's liberty to express free will this pillar brought him to office and justifies his right to rule ironically it’s also a pillar that Morsi's guiding philosphy find impossible to suffer Morsi's other foot is firmly planted on a pillar of Sharia sympathies upholding the divine foundation of his rule over this earthly principality Muslim Brotherhood’s cardinal principles undermine the pillar of secular precepts that equally enfranchise all citizens Sharia Laws allows no standing to equal rights of women, religious minorities, LGBT civil liberties and advocates suppression of atheistic and progressive political groups this has riled the democratic sympathies of the Egyptian people Morsi's actions threaten to tip the pillar of secular democracy back into the Nile’s murky waters Morsi's stance is precarious and as his feet slip he realizes he is not the Colossus of Rhodes he believed himself to be discovering it impossible to bestride the pillars supporting incompatible structures the generals have declared a road map for stability that rescinds the constitution, dissolves the parliament and places the military as sole protectorate of the nation is the preservation of a democratic republic more important than the return to the rule of a military junta?   is it more wise to place principles before personalities? Our eco-friendly toothbrushes sit together in the cup on the counter but today I didn’t brush my teeth. The snow is great. Want to know why, because the snow doesn’t give a **** how anybody else feels and it doesn’t ***** its feelings all over twitter. The snow knows that nobody cares. The snow never says “anyways” or “whatever” or “oh god”  and the snow doesn’t undermine what I have to say. The snow is cold and it ***** but at least it doesn’t question me. It doesn’t ask me if I need space. Nope. It just keeps snowing. The snow and I are on good terms. It isn’t polite and it doesn’t try to be anything that it is not. It doesn’t cook barley with kale and it definitely doesn’t pretend to like it.

Holocaust Poem: "On The Slaughter" by Chaim Nachman Bialik loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch Merciful heavens, have pity on me! If there is a God approachable by men as yet I have not found him— Pray for me! For my heart is dead, prayers languish upon my tongue; my right hand has lost its strength and my hope has wilted, undone. How long? Oh, when will this nightmare end? How long? Hangman, traitor, here’s my neck— rise up now, rise and slaughter! Behead me like a dog—your arm controls the axe and the whole world is a scaffold to me although we—the chosen few— were once recipients of the Pacts. Executioner, my blood’s a paltry prize— strike my skull and the blood of innocents will rain drenching your pristine uniform again and again, staining your raiment forever. If there is Justice—quick, let her appear! But after I’ve been blotted out, should she reveal her face, let her false scales be overturned forever and the heavens reek with the stench of her disgrace. You too arrogant men, with your brutal injustice, suckled on blood, unweaned of violence: cursed be the warrior who cries "Vengeance!" on a maiden; such cruelty was never contemplated, even by Satan. Let innocents’ blood drench the abyss! Let innocents’ blood seep down into the congealing darkness, eat it away and undermine earth's rotting foundations. Al Hashechita ("On the Slaughter") was written by Chaim Nachman Bialik in response to the ****** Kishniev pogrom of 1903, which was instigated by agents of the Czar who wanted to divert social unrest and political anger from the Czar to the Jewish minority. The Hebrew word schechita (also transliterated shechita, shechitah, shekhitah, shehita) denotes the ritual kosher slaughtering of animals for food. The juxtapositioning of kosher slaughter with the slaughter of Jews makes the poem all the more powerful and ghastly. Such anti-Semitic incidents prompted a massive wave of Eastern European emigration that brought millions of Jews to the West. Unfortunately, there have been many similar slaughters in human history and the poem remains chillingly relevant to the more recent ones in Israel/Palestine, Rwanda, Bosnia and Kosovo. As life in Israel flourishes For Israelis, it's not so fine-- As many conditions deteriorate-- For the poor people of Palestine. Chances of a two-state solution Dwindle, which is not a good sign As settlement expansions increase, Affecting the people of Palestine. For Palestinians imprisoned in Gaza, The infrastructure is in a decline. Will Gaza be uninhabitable for The poor people of Palestine? Defining what is their land, Israeli Lawmakers draw a hard line: This land belongs to the Jews, they say, Forgetting the people of Palestine. Cuts in economic aid And hospital care will undermine The health and quality of life Of the poor people of Palestine? Will an Israeli apartheid regime Be the ultimate design, Or will there be hope for the poor Struggling people of Palestine? -by Bob B (10-22-18)

But What About Poor Palestine?
It is a terrible thing this flesh that wears us Being makes us Slaves to atomic thought Particles possessing some consciousness Dreams stream from the undermind To undermine All we thought we were From the sub-atomic to the atomic On into the protein patterns of our thoughts Neurotransmitters flood and fulminate Filling our minds with strange things Receptor receiving impressions Leave strangers believing instincts Animals evolved to understand but ignore The gifts we have acquired from millions years and more A talent for analyzing then adjusting ourselves And after the fact constructing a model That makes continuity out of all of the chaos Now most take it for granted Become carbon copies cut in granite They give in to the impulses And waste said potential on fulfilling the illusion The desire to be grander is subsumed By their fear of non-existence Which is what they become Not after death But as cogs in the machine In a factory of robotic human beings

The Musing
Unanswered uncertainties limber up Unwanted confrontations cumulate Passion deliquescing over unexplored reason Unacknowledged, ignored, overwritten and dismissed Without consideration for his fragile heart The answers flow broiling him, wearing him down Scorn rejection, When trust is misplaced, And she exfoliates to true skin Hatred smothers over her love act Bogs him down by the shoulders All seems empty, all is empty Toyed with, lied to and used up He is a clock rigged for self destruction With no actions that lead to consequences The reason seems bleak and obvious His respect for her dies, His respect for her other doesn't exist She is not the one he loved, she is not the one that he knew A younger him he sees in her other Making the same mistake he did, mislaid trust The multifaceted chameleon that she is The other doesn't see Pouring his heart out and defending her wrongs The other starts to undermine and ignore him Move on they say, Only his heart is too heavy Forget her they say, Only she was a perennial settlement in my memory, he thought Hate her they say, Only he hates himself more for trying No one understands him Everyone tries, but no one understands He loved, he was back stabbed He suffered and suffocated under the blanket of secrets Lighten your heart brother, the mascot of a good soul You will be alright.

They say we exist in rivers of fate Predetermine pathways we are imprisoned in Positions we were born for And to disturb or ignore such strings Would undermine the order of those things I say we are free form individuals With endless paths before and between us That the reason they want to bind us to fate Is because they want to blind us To the weight of our own power To makes us wait for divine intervention Instead of having us pay attention To our intentions and the intention of others The wealthy and religious classes Want to politically castrate men and women Till we are to impotent with diffidence Unable to make any sort of difference But that framework doesn’t fit this World that we seven billion strong have been gifted with We have more power then we know And it only grows when we explode And show it to everyone else

god, words, where do you start? when i get like this, i just write my thoughts is that the same as speaking from the heart? what heart, what heart? this thing that beats against my ribs i'm sure it's just a hollow shell; pumps blood and oxygen allows me to live through this hell but there's nothing more to it i'm not doing so well do rhymes make pain sound simpler? i have a bad habit of using them when i'm heartbroken rhymes are used to undermine meaning, according to my old English teacher half rhymes and nursery rhymes and rhyming couplets and sentences left open to interpretation, to ambiguity, to aching wounds and clinical analysis i'm thinking of pretentious hipsters and all my therapists as i'm writing this "the mechanism which allows you to feel is broken" it wasn't the best movie but that line stuck with me i think the mechanism which allows me to feel is broken don't worry, Harry, i know how you feel, Harry i, too, use the adverb; i, too, feel badly. the sharp things that cut me, the dull things that bruise me everything i should feel is either absent or agony. love, they say; let love in, she heals your thoughts and broken skin! fickle ***** she is, what lies i've heard her spin. do you love me when you lie to me, darling love o' mine? do you love me when you trace your fingers over the nubs of another's spine? love o' mine, love o' mine, that Touch was supposed to be mine, divine, divine, beloved and reverent and MINE it's a good thing i don't want to hold onto you anymore the rope burns were finally sleeping into my core. my god, these splinters, i'm bleeding from my fingers as i try to reach out for something that isn't withered, because the flowers that you bloomed are shrivelled and abused i refuse to water them, give them life anew does that make me a murderer? well you murdered them, too.

We shall keep the poor poor. We shall be on them like a master's whip on the backs of slaves;  but they will not know us: we are too far and too near. We shall use the patois of patriotism to patronize them. We shall hide behind our flags, while we hold only one pole. We shall have the poor fight our wars for us, and die for us;  and before they die, they will **** for us, we hope, enough. In peace, we shall piecemeal them, and serve them meals made of toxins and tallow. For their labor, we shall pay them slave wages;  and all that we give, we shall take back, and more, by monumental scandals that subside like day's sun at eventide. We shall be clever, as ever, circumspect and surreptitious at all times. We shall keep them deluded with the verisimilitude of hope, but undermine always its being. We shall infuse their lives with fear and hate, playing one race against another, one religion against a brother's. Disaffection is our key;  but we must modulate our efforts deftly, so the poor remain frightened and angered, but always blind and deaf and divided. And if, perchance, one foments, we shall seize the moment and drop his head into his hands, even as he speaks. This internecine brew we pour, there- fore, into the poor to keep them drunk enmity and incapacitation. Ah, eternal anticipation! Bottoms up, old chaps! We, those who rule, shall have them always in our laps. We are, as it were, their salvation. Tod Howard Hawks

THOSE WHO RULE
White collared men in pinstripe suits sit casually across from one another, completely indifferent. They discuss ways to obtain power and how to silence the opposition. The opposition being women. Power being the rights to our own bodies. These are the men who make laws against abortion to disguise their ulterior motives. Trump’s America they call it. Where belittling women is somehow a “trend”, Where this type of thing has become “okay”. Where the women’s rights movement has been threatened time and time again. All of this, In efforts to silence our war cries. But here’s the thing about us that even history seems to have forgotten. We Are Women. Our mothers have been crafting our battle armour since before we were born. Gave it to us the day we were first interrupted in the middle of a sentence. They told us to be brave, to be bold, to be unapologetic. To speak our truth and remain strong even when we feel utterly defeated. You see, We don’t really do submissive. Won’t sit back and let you do as you please. Rather, we’ll continue to challenge your authority. Make you wish you kept your laws off our bodies in the first place. To those who continue to undermine our capability, I say to you this. This body, is my own. This body, is power. In fact, I don’t blame you for being afraid. Because you and I both know that this body is capable of things so extraordinary that only God Himself can envision them. You can try to silence us, To take away our voice. But we will only grow stronger, Grow louder. Angrier. You will hear us And you will listen. My body, My rules.

Dear Human (at first I wrote narrow minded ******* This is not a hate poem, although it started out as one it's something finished before my time a game already won My tendons would love to stretch 15 minutes before beginning the race but I wake up every morning to a piercing toast, a celebratory guffaw of an after party having been exploited and raw there is no point for me to stretch metaphorically that is for if i don't stretch before I start my day I tweak like a bike in need of WD40 I can't speak because everything I saw deserves an explanation scratch that I can't speak because I'm afraid of judgement like heavy wet cement, I'll drown in my unspoken words though so I write these down back to the point Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a ***** if I don't stretch my aching quaking body can't **** right and if I can't **** right every other stressor strangles my already mangled mind and body Depression is wet cement dripping from my air vent molding my notches and bolts stone solid yet, I have to get up and stretch to walk amid, among, noodles Falling asleep is difficult because I want to get the night over with and Waking up is difficult because I want to get the day over with Not a study session waiting for snacks more my socks are stuffed with thumbtacks and I forgot everyone finished their after party so I'm pounding my feet sprinting for a finish line I'll never cross Like when I woke up in the hospital, banging my head against the wall believing I could smash my way outside on this day, three years ago My mania surged lightning bolt electric jolt a thousand watt volt I would never be released until normalcy increased so I spent every waking moment stretching desperately trying to release the desperate stress molded in my body Depression is wet cement, I have learned to slip through it's cracks by releasing the firey strength I hold inside my bones I hold inside my soul Oh human, please hear me with your open ears yet if you can't, I have no fear your judgement cannot touch me I am on fire, all victims of depression you, we, are not weak merely misunderstood by false desire we are misunderstood Blazing wet cement on fire

A Letter To Those Who Undermine Depression

Darling what your words have claimed, is true. I have grown an affintity for you, and, but a mere fatuation would undermine my emotions for you. You could be as poor as the dictionary can describe it, but I would have no dispute with breaking bread on a futon in a one bedroom apartment, for my darling I would have you to share it with. I cannot explain in any way or word what linkage I feel towards you and what imminent, unborn quandry, disagreements or dilemas we might face. I'll be over and above to put those problems to their knees, shut them down and subjugate them. Eye, there will be exceptional recherche, eye there will be dissatisfactory and atrocious, but I vow to never slant in our interconnection. I'll stand by you during quandry and I'll stand by you in a war, because not only my heart that loves you so dearly, my soul has grown quite fond towards you, that never before have. And in all verity, I have gone far more than fall in love. I vow to preserve and protect thee love.

Darling
In fairytales spun with threads of gold, Fantasy weaves tales, but truth untold, Dreams painted in hues of perfection, Reality's absence, a cruel deception. Characters clad in virtues so divine, Yet life's complexities, they undermine, For in the real world, shadows persist, Fairytales evade truths that exist. In castles tall, love's kiss breaks the spell, But reality's truths, a harder sell, In flawed hearts, love's journey is strife, Fairytales deny the tumultuous life. Happily ever after, a whimsical notion, Life's challenges scorn such devotion, For happiness waltzes with sorrow's song, Fairytales mask the struggles lifelong. So, I loathe the tales with happy endings, Reality's narrative, it keeps transcending, In life's tapestry, flaws are an art, Fairytales, a facade, keeping us apart.

The following statements of truth were brought to you Not through, but circumnavigating fated parameters Of insane, yet normative, largely uninformative Mechanisms that formally give birth to ******** And instead, strategically splicing said bounds with Ideal variables derived from the courageously quixotic, Unrobotic, and outraged agents of, and for, capital Real: The train of corporate reasoning derails so fast To follow is to snap the head backward, Far past angles within measures of pleasurable fit And open gates to deluging tangled circular Failures of logic that trick and co-opt the proletariat. We are Present-Ambassadors with broken flux-capacitors Demonstrating a consistent tendency toward error In efforts to obtain diplomatic access to a future where The same reemerging deficits do not manifest unfixed. One of said deficits may include all positive freedoms. For the record, it shall be noted that civil society Currently arrives implicitly to find it compliantly fine To promote systems of labor designed to illicit behaviors That will eventually undermine the actors of exhaustive work And make benefactors of those complicit in crime. As case studies of this paradoxical paradigm, we observe Nations signing trade agreements aligned with Selling more of the goods whose extractions have Cataclysmic exactions upon locals contracted not to resist. Those who take issue with this are directed to appellate institutions. The projected scarcity of over-consumed poisons causes fear Which leads to faster hoarding and more ex(t/p)ensive death. Thus, most human behaviors presently inflate pricing, popularity, And rapidity associated with committing system-wide suicide. As shackle-some power consolidation bends toward a transnational peak I hereby slide-tackle these forwarded trends, seeking goals of the rational.

Falsehood of Thee could I suppose
She had a sweet voice made for lullabies Among the people who sang like sirens She was but a whisper without an echo Singing along voices that could cross oceans A starling surrounded by suns A subtle breeze against a hurricane A dim version of what she could have been A candlelight beside a fireplace People tend to undermine her existence Telling her she was never quite enough Her quiet and subtle nature was forgettable She only deserved an equivalent love Even so, she stands with her small stature Without wavering after the day has rest Into the night she preserves her light Guiding and accompanying those who feel any less She was the lullaby that touched separated hearts Reunited with the harmonized whispers of song She was a knight of light who guards a single child In her presence, the night can do no wrong She didn’t have to be the action pack thriller She was a bedtime story that lulled you to sleep The narrative you asked to be read each night Because it is a tale your heart wants to keep Gentle and calm, soothing and soft In a harsh world that demands sharp edges Her hidden strength was how despite it all She preserved her softness from all the wreckage

Knight Light
The wind blew out and the sea rolled in By the cliffs and the curving beach, A lonely stretch, they were kith and kin And had never heard human speech, A cottage grew by the shore one day There were figures of surly men, The sea had muttered, ‘They’re in my bay,’ And the wind replied, ‘Amen!’ The men had left but the cottage stayed Like a wound to the ocean’s pride, It split the wind at the valley floor As it passed there, either side, The sea said ‘blow it away my friend, For it grieves my heart to see, The works of man where I lap the sand,’ And the wind said, ‘Leave it to me!’ It soughed and soared at the eventime And it scored with sand from the beach, It struggled to topple the chimney pots As it surged at one and each, It lost its puff as the sun came up When the tide was on the ebb, ‘I couldn’t move it a jot,’ it sighed, ‘And the roof, it felt like lead.’ ‘We’ll wait for the winter tides,’ my friend, ‘I’ll surge and wash it away, I’ll undermine its foundations, then I’ll sweep it out in the bay.’ But then a flickering candle lit From a window, facing the shore, ‘There’s something a-move, for a shadow flit Last night through the cottage door!’ The sea had grumbled, ‘We’ll wait and see What lingers there in the light,’ The wind peered in at the window pane And sighed at the wondrous sight, ‘A creature there with its golden hair And its eyes, a deep sea blue, That set me quivering in their stare, So what will they do to you?’ The morning saw at the cottage door A woman all dressed in white, She wandered along the empty shore And the sea had gulped, ‘You’re right!’ He lapped his waters around her feet As she waded in for a swim, And said to the wind, ‘She’s warm and sweet, And it’s sad, but you can’t come in!’ Back on the beach, a gentle breeze Had whispered the woman dry, Then flitted, scurrying out to sea, ‘You’ve changed your tune, but why?’ ‘I think we needed that cottage there, In reflection, let it stand.’ The wind just capered along the shore As the door of the cottage slammed.
