love so blind yet so kind
love is knowing you can
it is that feeling you get when you kiss
a friend goodbye

love is life
like water,it is a need
love is precious, like gold it should be valued and treasured

love heals
love reveals who we are
love sets us free
love brings us close and leaves our heart filled with warmth and satisfaction

love is that smile from utata,it is that hug from umama saying I am proud of you my child
and that voice of encouragement from a Friend when the world is against you

love is powerful and meaningful
love is beautiful

uMama named me
Something meaning a
Morning Star.

Strung abruptly, she wringed the letters to call me by a name.
A name to a face that she would not see for more than a decade.

But where are you Mama?

My light shining, I don’t see you
Hiding in the dark, I search for you…

But I don’t want too, my heart to turn, black
To stone, like you

Standing, Sitting, Sleeping
Mama, what is it that you do?

To forget me; my small body
What the chill felt that winter’s day
What the ancestors felt, calling my name

Mama, I don’t want you.

But as an infant, I cried
But as an infant, I tried to do something with the nothing that I could
To begin to understand you, the thing that pulled you to
Look away from me
Listen to the buzzing bee that stings and flees
That cowardice
That naïve mind, flowerless.

Well now, Mama, I vow to not know
Whatever mount of snow is piled over you,
Stay there, lying cold,
Because yes, I am a morning star, but over you, I will turn to stone,
So, I, a morning star, over you
Will not go.
