I met you
once
on the beach.
We cheers’d to the beer,
I knew you’d be trouble.

I wanted
that one man-
to admire the curve of my hips,
count my freckles,
and kiss my lips.

Suddenly,
I was all wrapped up in your arms
Exactly where
I did not belong.
All convinced,
that sunset drive
was a hit-
the worst feeling
in my pit.

You know that saying?
should have,
could have,
but if I would have
layed where I belonged-
I wouldn’t have tasted
the stale cigarettes
on your lips,
and felt
the bitterness
on your thrusting hips.

Wish you
would have listened
when I told you
I had to go home.
You did this
on purpose,
didn’t you?
Do you bring them all up here?
The yin and yang
On top of my favorite mountain
in the worst
possible
place.
With you.
