instinctive consumption of vitamin C
from bright light to dim light - ever finding darkness.
"i wonder where hes gone?" questioned always,
never let us go. always let you go.
pondering quandries and
"i can never let it go."
pondering quandries and
"my words never fit."
hearing of Ski-Masks,
a final resort for the overwhelmed.

Somewhere underneath the rubble a century old soul lies.
Hammers pound, wood-chippers whir.
A chaotic landfill of past, present, and future.
Welcome to my mind.

The signs prohibit visitors and many don't realize the rusted metal warnings are only guises.
With palms aching and restless feet, you crawl over the shattered sky to find me.

Here,
we can pretend to care about life's many quandries together.
Dig underneath the limestone with me,
take off your coat and stay a while.
It's the greatest joy when you can find someone who wonders the same way as you.

Father,
I must remind you that I am your daughter.

I have been hewn from
your own flesh and bone,
and though you may forget,
I am you.

Father,
I must remind you that I am not my mother

When you look at me,you see my other half;
I walk and talk and laugh like her.
You see my mother,
in my gender and my face.

I am more her than you.
We both have the darkness
that can summon thunders
and grant us empathy, unbounded.

Father,**
I must remind you that I am not your son.

When you look at me, you do not see
the same keenness of mind and
quiet grit both you men possess.
I am sorry I am not better.

I speak to him, instead of you
in times I need a masculine support,
and when I face moral quandries.
I learned not to ask you.

I believe that everyone should be able to
Free their mind
From time to time.
Open up themselves to new possibilities,
Quandries they didn't know existed
With this new state of mind.

I have also seen the placid beings
That some become.
Hollow like the bottles
They have emptied;
White slate faces,
Echoing their constant distance
From reality.

I believe that everyone should be able to
Free their mind
From time to time,
But I have witnessed it's wrath
And I'm not willing to let you slip
Into mediocrity.
