Whether a comma, or colon: Punctuation slows my rolling I need no period. When I end no Capitalization when I begin Rulelessly I flow my art   Not a single! Exclamation mark Are you not the one Who'll know? Where a question mark No longer goes Warp the structure Bend the lines Put in repeat Let emotion unwind Make yourself Your poetry's the best Be your own ruler Pass your own test Take your own road Where ever it leads Lover or hater It's all poetry!

MAKE YOURSELF
i love you this morning it's a come home safe morning fog on the road & no seatbelt kind of morning the sun is over easy & nothing's on fire there's punctuation where i don't want it and extra love in the glovebox of my car been thinking about being honest how these poems are all me but they tell the story how someone else might believe it happened within reasonable doubt no copy & pasted love letters no 'who ever says hello first gets my attention for the day' try a little tenderness in my ears and today there are instruments in the back of my head i think you love me because i'm sunburned felt it in a 'come hell or high water' kinda way, that 'touched from far away' kinda way that 'if i touch this piano one more time one of us is going to break' kinda way and i drove over 17 bridges yesterday and today i'll do it again and i think nobody gets what that means except maybe you i just tell them i love the scenery that somebody must've made these trees blush just for me you know how i love to change the subject i bet they'd love the view i bet you would too and all these metaphors for other things are beside the point this is a metaphor for why i don't wear my seatbelt a metaphor for why whiskey knows me better than you could ever try to all the buildings seemed to sag yesterday and all the stars are doing that cliche thing where they talk quiet jet noise & some lumbering giant made everything shake not those hand metaphors not another one of those & keep the sea to yourself i think it was a train it's sound hugged the embankment for a moment and then trailed off into nowhere and that's kind of like me how there's a town called 'rescue' close to my home & it's no coincidence that i've never been there

What's it take These days To write a poem That makes the world go mad That brings the crowds to their feet That spreads like wildfire Through a dry winter forest Is it those excessively long words? The ostentatiously loquacious Platitudinous ramblings Of an insecure mind aspiring To authentic intellect? Is it perhaps...      the "creativity"                of      varied      spacing   or...    could it be..... the lack                               of capitalization                the loathsome little letters                screaming out                          hey, look at us!          ... or maybe it's                the punctuation marks,      littered, haphazardly           through the text                     (whether used correctly)                or, theyre not?!      despite worrds mispeled           and a grammar might is broken    can these gimmicks increase interest         though miswritten or misspoken? Is the trick alliteration Whose bite brightly bids us To center on the snappy sounds? Although all along      unvoiced underneath Ideas idle in the isles    (or perhaps the aisles) Of the mind To meld and craft and bind Our thorough thoughts And worthy words Into lines Which Heard by herds Raise the                   Praise for which we                   Privately, desperately                   Pray Maybe it's a magical mix Of splendid in-your-head rhythm Marvelous meter that perfectly clicks Flowing smoothly without schism Well-spaced stanzas Well-used time Well-crafted phrases Well-thought-out rhymes Well, maybe not...      those gems are often ignored      cast-aside, unread, even abhorred Why? Because the modern world doesn't need your rules your restrictions your regulations your misguided boundaries your oppression your antiquated ideas    of "the right way"    to write    to speak    to act    to live    to (fill in the blank) No, what the modern world needs is Negation! Contradiction! Resistance! Revolt! And poetry whose words Say the same thing Repeat the same meaning Echo the same lyrics Rephrase the same thoughts But in an ever-so-slightly Different Varied Altered Adjusted Changed up way Line After line Of synonyms           over                and                     over                          and                          over                          again ----- What's it take These days To not give in To narcissism's spiral? But more importantly: What's it take To make my poem go viral?

I want to hit it hard, not romanticize about the blood ya feel me? As you read that first line, when you cross over to the second, your nose will start to bleed just before my fist connects with your face. I often dream about it, being feared. The only reason that you're on the ground is because I put you there. Quite frankly I'm fearful of myself. My throat still holds the ache of the alcohol going down. I swear to you I'm doing better. I swear. I can't swear in this house hold so I will talk so quickly creating run on sentences without punctuation or breath because I'm panicking over nothing in particular. ****** Add some shakes to your vocabulary and you've got it right. My medication puts stray dogs under my finger nails, that's ok because dogs are happiness. That's supposed to mean I'm happy. I made myself write this, its horrifyingly scattered just like my head. That's not right. That's wrong. Something is terribly wrong so I must fix it. That's what I do, I fix. I'll just look at this as art. Some persons trash is another ones treasure. I'm too scared to write anymore. This is garbage.

[tongue taking taken prayer] *come worship in my temple. your tongue gowned by silence, thy teasing vibrations disperse my slack, exchanging it for a rigidity that is even softer, looser, an improvement possibility impossibly incomprehensible the noises of freedom from anonymity is thy silenced tongue unleashed, teasing, speaking tongues unrelenting and unremitting, tongues unforgotten for they never were learned, and incapable of being self-taught my pleasure sprouts mushrooms in thy loamy foam, thy rainfall nourishment, seed plant growing life morning borne, thy tricked up sonnets played within my hearts harp, tunes never known but coming from the land of plenty, my new promised land teach me where the apostrophe goes, the comma and why the question mark is curved and dotted like my body, why we need punctuation to separate the first from the next trees weep as if every dry rain petal is instantly imbibed, wanting more for my swollen by thy ministrations, I cry out my ice storm, my thunder, embalm me within the electric spreading in my veins shocking steady constant thy name thy name I beg to give thee a name to understand what has befallen me* you can call me by my favorite of all my seventy two,^ your first baby squeals and even now in human manufactured agreed upon symbols (words), every utterance a prayer heard and answered my name is a heated and unbroken hallelujah, I am thy god, and you, darling you, my beloved

I reserved a table for the two of us at the only restaurant in the world that not only offers atmosphere and setting but tone and syntax as well. First some articles for appetizers. They're easiest on my pocket you know. An an, a the, and an a. Let's not even start on the punctuation, I'm treating you to a rather large meal. As large as the entire English language, now back to the articles. Sure these taste like lint but they still taste. Petit fours but there you are. Try to be disinterested or you'll put me off my food. Nouns now. My, what a variety. Bit meaty, eh? These have staying power. They taste like a bit of everywhere, and everyone, and everything. What's that? Surely they're not that bland. Maybe you need some seasoning. "Adjective" comes from the French for "to the word." So exotic aren't they? These really are fantastic. Exquisite, unique, zesty to say the least. You must admit, they make the meal worth it. I hope you're not allergic, I could have sworn I just had something "nutty." Oh, it had nuts "in it"? There must be some prepositions mixed in here. (I'm glad we're getting through these now, I've never been a big fan of them. When I was a kid, I would always push my prepositions to the end of my sentences. You just can't do that in a joint like this, it seems.) Ah finally. The verbs are served. Well-prepared it would seem. Yes, anything you can do to a verb they've done to these. Infinitives (too good to realistically be believed!), gerunds, and participles (No, not particles. But we did have some of those at the Japanese restaurant.) Fairly lean too, as I can't see any auxiliary fat. For some reason those adverbs (just to your left, under that thesaurus) really go well with this. Plus those adjectives from earlier, rather pleasantly. Now a brief selection of conjunctions, but don't ruin yourself. They're not a meal of themselves, just a link to... Oh! Look at those interjections. So delicate, so (Wow!) incisive. I told you to keep your appetite. Well, just try a little of this. Goodness, me! And then everyone proceeds to die from a split infinitive.

Writing
Felt like quitting writing poems then nice lady posted words at me that kicked me in my tail and made me stop being sad. She messaged me that I should use more punctuation and look things up when I see that red line under words I don't know how to spell good she said capitalize my I and first word of sentence thank her for that and makes sense. I will be good at writing before to long she said but I can't get sad cause somebody said things I don't like about my writing and I gotta practice hard.

Feel good and writing
when the milk light steals into my eyes—hey it’s grownups’ goodmorning —I let your elbow go and then I pull it back again, soft metonymy (i sometimes remember when you’re awake, and abashed I keep it quiet how you’re my favorite part —of what?—not applicable, but this morning I remember when your eyes are closed, and I let you feel how much I feel you in my ribs when you’re all around me) the punctuation of the days was always mine and I couldn’t breathe as well without keeping the dark for me just me and still my eyelids weigh me down a little but I don’t mind hey goodmorning

Poetry must confront this global crisis of capitalist exploitation and manipulation. Poetry must speak to the masses. Poetry must radicalize and inform consciousness to new levels of social change. Marginalized citizens must be empowered. All ****** gender-based, racial, religious, age-based, homophobic, xenophobic, and gynophobic bigots must be brought to see in a new way through our poetry. Community building and local empowerment are of the order. Our poetry must be global in scope – yet rooted and grounded in local community empowerment. Selfless acts of service to promote and increase Social Justice are needed. Lives selflessly devoted to establishing social justice are called for. Our poetic lives must be laid on the altar of the dis-enfranchised and unrepresented. We, as consciously aware poets, must advocate and speak out for those who have no voice. We, as poets, must, through stirring words of Social Justice, embody through our radical verses the burning hope of a just and sustainable future. This future must become increasingly collective as formerly marginalized consumers become empowered community-builders  –  through our poetry. As poets of the sustainable future we will empower and inform. Our poetry must collectivize, entitle and enslave. We must speak with ONE VOICE: the voice of change and social justice. Our words will rise with healing in their wings and lift whole communities from despair to radicalized self-awareness in communities filled with strident, intolerant and maniacal practitioners of PEACE & SOCIAL JUSTICE. This fits nicely into the story of my life A nice chapter leading up to the ****** The ****** that wasn't as long and steady as it should have been A ****** that took a vertical drop to an unresolved conclusion This fits nicely into the story of my life It took up a few pages But I'll have to wait for the publication of the sequal to find out what happens next This rough draft of Part II is a bad sketch There is grammer errors and mispellingz My punctuation. Is off as, well as my punctuality But the sequal will be released in time As the author of my story, I'm not sure any words will start with the letter you.

in some sense life is like a run on sentence it's countenance one of coincidence things just happen and they continue to google or yahoo won't give to you a solution to cling to or conclusion to bring you a delusion of tranquility there's a lack of structure and punctuality like punctuation conductor and dj please pick another station

(1) There’s one thing I must get off my chest that’s bothered me now even 50 years on with the passage of time – my English teacher then she always told me when I grumbled homework was too difficult, she’d tell me: “That’s a piece of cake” And I’d go home discombobulated how anyone could eat paper or homework and she said this not once, but every time: “It’s a piece of cake” (2) And my parents and I looked at it every which way and from every point of view and concluded in our Perfect Ancient Native language: *“This English teacher is a loony. She is wooly-headed. She is the lamb Mary lost, silly and muddle-headed. How can homework be a piece of cake? Anyway, we don’t eat cake – we eat samosas.”* (3) And yet the English teacher would put her nose up in the air and remonstrate: “It’s a piece of cake!” Oh yeah, would you like tea with it? Now, my parents, bless their Ancient Souls, have gone on into the next world And I’m left wondering about the secret madness of that English teacher who’d ask me to eat cake when I expressed genuine concern… Well, my parents have passed on, as I said, and I’ve moved on as is plain and radiant to see to master idioms and vocabulary Punctuation, the catenative verb and Usage; and, as for that wooly-headed English teacher, I’m sure she’s moved on into a comfortable nuthouse where the staff makes her eat her cake, and make her think she can have it too - cos that’s what they do to nuts, and such instances (4) And now that I have got that off my chest, I can comfortably resume memorizing Volume 3 of theOxford Dictionary as  I perambulate and copy 100 entries from Fowler’s “Modern English Usage” as I victulate which is all part of my nightly ritual since she told me to do so some 50 years ago (cos I happened to look at her Union Jack knickers when she sat high on the table, and I stood up ***** cos that's what they made us do in the cinemas) - and that helps to put me into a state of dormancy, to hibernate till the sun ushers in a new day for me  – and a new cake for that wooly-headed English teacher, she, I can presume with certainty, elegantly reposed and superannuated Now, I’m glad I’ve got this off my chest and mastered my idioms and phrases and I can go eat my samosas

My English teacher was wooly-headed
(1) There’s one thing I must get off my chest that’s bothered me now even 50 years on with the passage of time – my English teacher then she always told me when I grumbled homework was too difficult, she’d tell me: “That’s a piece of cake” And I’d go home discombobulated how anyone could eat paper or homework and she said this not once, but every time: “It’s a piece of cake” (2) And my parents and I looked at it every which way and from every point of view and concluded in our Perfect Ancient Native language: *“This English teacher is a loony. She is wooly-headed. She is the lamb Mary lost, silly and muddle-headed. How can homework be a piece of cake? Anyway, we don’t eat cake – we eat samosas.”* (3) And yet the English teacher would put her nose up in the air and remonstrate: “It’s a piece of cake!” Oh yeah, would you like tea with it? Ellipses. Now you are the verb in my heart’s contraction I am the subject and you are the action An Interrogative with a Declarative reaction An Exclamatory and then an Imperative attraction Ellipses. Your lips ease Me, the direct object of your affection, but never sentenced to an apostrophe’s possession perhaps more true- a plural “s” suggestion and the excitement behind an exclamation point’s inflection The semi-colon understands We can be on our own, but we want to stand together where our letters aren’t fetters, but the typesetter’s better measure of linguistic pleasure. We communicate through metaphors and similes Like the birds and the bees We speak across homophone lines to keep a census of our senses at all times Because words said aloud have allowed us to find meaning behind the utterance of sound- mere words and phrases jumping off of pages into brain and heart and soul when the parts become a whole And with the syntax, punctuation, grammar, and usage I’m a hopeless semantic always trying to ****** it Language- yours I understand through the myriad. A sweet wine you taste-test and lick around my lips, I am a kiss you can't resist- a naked sweat, a seductive bliss. I am the palm that stings the skin, a ***** spank than burns within. I am a moaning, seeping ****** that rumbles with percussion. I am your emphasized description although no adjective does justice.

Linguistic Augmentation
Today is the anniversary of another trip around the sun for the woman I love more than any other. Happy Birthday to my mother, Elise who drew me a picture of the female reproductive system and labeled the parts and explained the process of ************ before my body ever had a chance to frighten me who taught me the word ****** and taught me that there was nothing silly, or shameful, or icky about the word or having one. who taught me that people are inherently the same and humans are valuable and the meaning of the word humanity and the value of justice and the meaning of the word "injustice" and consistently confronted it often uncomfortably but un-apologetically whenever we found ourselves in its presence Who responded to compliments about my appearance as a child with humble disinterested grace and taught me with intention in everything she said and did that what is valuable about me is my mind and my heart kindness spirit ethics righteousness some may say too much of the latter who taught me about Janis, and Sylvia, and Frida and Roe v Wade and punctuation and articulation and diction and the Serenity Prayer, and that Galway Kinnel poem about what is still possible... I love you Mom. I could go on forever. My love and my gratitude for you - and what you have gifted and instilled in me - is bigger than the universe and eternity and possibility.
