"promoting" poems
I am told that I should love my body, and I should not be ashamed. BUT the white, conservative men tell me otherwise, making me feel nothing but shame. When did it become okay for a male's education to be more important than a woman's rights? When did it become okay to sexualize a woman just because her shirt does not cover her rear end? This is apparent in the things my teachers have told me. "Your shirt must be fingertip length when wearing yoga pants," she said. "Why?" "Because the males that sit in the class might be too destracted to listen to my lecture." We are treated like *** toys. Us girls are used for nothing more than a mans pleasure, so they imply. This is MY body, and no one else's. I may do what I please, and no one should have a problem with it. I refuse to be sexualized and treated like we are living in the 1920s. But I must conform and live in fear of my consequences. **** culture is real, and school's are promoting it.

Western Boats
It is five twenty three When my world stopped. I was walking on that corridor While you were waiting at the corner Your eyes fixed on something I didn't know Yet when you hear these footsteps You began to meet my eye My heart was beating wildly on and on and on. I was too terrified, Terrified to let those gazes go I was calm on the outside But too weak that I might be dead in the inside Why I was this so connected to you? I know you I know your name I know where you lived I know your favorite color I know how those little eyes shines when you smile But no We haven't talked before And we didn't do until now. As you continue looking at my scared big eyes I started to turn away And regret all the stupid things I made From the moment I sat next to you on that public vehicle Until now that you are there, There that I don't know where. I regret being a stranger to you from the beginning till the end. That's all I am to you: A stranger you are sitting next to, Seeing on the hallway, Giving promoting cards to, And an audience from the crowd.

Stranger in Love
A fashion designer has defended models who were labelled as "gaunt and unwell" on Facebook. Andrea Moore's I AM range is sold at Farmers, and an image from its current campaign was posted on that company's Facebook page on Friday. The picture features Chiara and Norina Gasteiger, who are twins represented by Clyne Model Management. Farmers customers did not react well to the now-deleted post. "They so look gaunt and unwell. I'm really disappointed," Newshub says Anna Webster commented. "You cannot look at these girls with their bones sticking out and believe that they are a good role model for a family store," Jo Austwick wrote. "I have enough trouble with body image arguments with my daughters without these images being depicted. They do not look healthy." Moore said the imagery had never been intended to cause offence, and that she felt for the Gasteiger twins, who have worked with the brand for three years. "The twins are actually healthy, fun models who are busy university students... We love working with them because of their sense of self-worth and uniqueness as twins," she said. "We have been in touch with the models and they were most upset by the whole thing. Fortunately, they have received a lot of support from their peers. "The campaign was about preppy grunge, print with an edge. [It was not] about promoting unhealthy body types [or] anything else," Moore added. Farmers posted the following statement on Facebook after deleting the I AM image: "Dear valued Farmers customers! We appreciate you taking the time to send us your comments and concerns on a recent post for I AM. Please know it is not taken lightly and we in no way mean to promote an image for women in NZ to follow that could be regarded as unhealthy. "We understand that no two bodies are the same and we always seek to show a range of body types throughout all our advertising. These images were supplied by the brand Andrea Moore as part of a wider campaign and were published by us. We will endeavour going forward to work closely with all our partners to ensure an appropriate image is portrayed. "Thank you once again for your valued feedback." Clyne Model Management have been approached for comment.Read more at:http://www.marieaustralia.com/cocktail-dresses | www.marieaustralia.com/one-shoulder-formal-dresses

Heroes and villains seem harder to define when somethings happen to blur the lines The villain style of justice may appear better than no justice at all When the system fails the victim and makes the victim feel so small Where are the Heros when evil abounds? Are they still around? Who fights for truth and justice throughout the land? Who is brave enough to take a stand? Remember heroes often are easily disguised as ordinary people and don't stand out in a crowd Their anonymity allows them to work behind the scenes they effectively crush the evil villains dreams. The Heros tirelessly fight for truth and justice and selflessly care for others in need. They support and encourage those that the villains of this world have knocked down. The villains can too easily be found courtesy of our television screen they often make a showing on the 6 or 10 o clock news they are promoting violence they don't care about anyone else's views. As far as Heros go you may discover that a Heros heart is contained inside of You. Hero or Villain? The choice is yours Today you could take a stand to right some societal wrong Today you can be strong and be a Hero to a friend or loved one or a stranger in need. To them can make a difference indeed. Hero's Traits: H elping E ncouraging R espectful O pportunity Perhaps these traits are within you Be the Hero that you long to see!

Earlier today, painting was the activity that we had planned I have a support teacher who would always lend a hand She had left the class to get the paint all mixed While I stayed behind to get the toys and props all fixed She came back and bore bowls of red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Lunchtime I visited a store and neatly displayed on low shelves Arranged so immaculately as if magically done by elves Were cases upon cases stitched together with only zips They almost instantly bent a smile to my lips Their colours shone brilliant red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Passed by a shop selling accessories and apparel Merchandise dangled on wall hooks and some in a jumble On the adjacent wall something caught my eye Carried all the neat little tote bags one could ever buy One peeking from a corner was red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Walked by a building, so modern-looking and new Down on one side almost obscured from view Were these horizontal rows of dancing neon lights Stopped for a minute just to soak in the sights Then I realised that they flickered red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Waited for the bus to get home at my usual bus stop Whilst waiting, I shifted and from my bag something did drop Bent over and picked my coin pouch that had fallen out Looked up only to see another commuter lingering about On his pack was a sticker which boasted red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Bus was packed, found a seat in the back row Sat myself down, I peered briefly out the window Engine under me, I scanned around to those who were seated Observed the floor beneath my shoes as it vibrated My pair of Adidas, oh my, they're red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Got home, put my bag down and sank into the sofa Switched on the telly, on was the Food Network's "Barefoot Contessa" Surfed through the channels, caught a real estate commercial Promoting prime land in a country not anywhere regional Splashed on the screen, a flag - red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. End of the day, it is best that I hit the sack Allow some rest for my poor aggravated back But not till I complete the words you're currently reading I'm thinking, dreaming and furiously typing How do I end this? Hmm...red, white and blue? I'm thinking and dreaming...and wishing I'm with you.

Every year it comes every year it goes we spend a fortune promoting it, getting ready for it and giving in to it it's advertised everywhere spoken by everyone. It's contagious, it makes us ill it makes us worry, it makes us aggressive it makes us rush around like our lives depended on it. But every year when it comes we love it every year when it goes we miss it we spend a fortune to give people a moment of happiness smiles and laughter It's advertised everywhere to remind us of the good times everyone speaks of it because it is so important it's contagious but gives us joy we worry and get aggressive because we care so much we want to make that one person happy we rush but when you see those people smile it's worth it. Merry Christmas

instead of making them feel at home we are telling them to go back home have we got no shame calling our brothers and sisters foreigners in their own motherland? what happened to Ubuntu? umntu ngu mntu ngabantu? has the long walk to freedom not been walk for us? there will be no freedom in Africa if we still believe in brutality rather than humanity there will be no freedom in Africa if  don't understand the meaning of struggle, poverty yesterday we were crying for freedom praising and promoting the spirit of togetherness, today we stone the same African brother who held our hands in the years of apartheid and gave us hope! why do we have to be so cruel not so fucken cool! Nelson Mandela did not die for this! Walter sisulu did not die for this! our black brothers and sisters in sharpville did not die for this! where did it all go wrong? we claim to be the land of peace yet we do not know the meaning of forgiveness we claim to be the land of great leaders and born dreamers yet we do not know   the meaning of Ubuntu! I am not proud of what this land has become....

*Her prized first bike came out of a breakfast cereal competition. Then sped her around London from lecture to final examination. Twenty years on it was replaced by gleaming white and black carbon. Bought, lacking in memories faster, lighter with a baby seat for Bethan. Fitness, a priority this year swimming in the pool, open water and the sea. Clare selected a running coach cycling home at an ever higher cadence for tea. Happy, with her performance in her very first event as a triathlon novice. A second, saw Clare pedaling faster to race past fellow competitors with ease. In her last competition she was pictured lithe on posters promoting reactive sports glasses. Winning a new Felt racing bike, seats in the VIP stand for the Tour de France finish and her fit lasses-ass*. My congratulations dear hero...

Born Screaming......
mass culture     is designed      for       complacency [               ]; the Great Depression of the 30's ended the Roaring 20's; as radio brought WWII & TV Vietnam into homes where easy-chairs & TV dinners reigned in cartoon silence; Bud sneaks off to the garage to smoke bud, when the innocent stoner gets a draft card, turning radical, Bud grows his hair long & giving the middle finger to some, peace sign to others  [decades go by when hideous was fashionable];                  9/11 breaking our post-grunge neo-70's-80's haze [for what, like a week - - -                 then came the hoax of Islamophobia        spreading paranoia & nervousness in case the terrorists missed anyone;                 the 90's were already                 nostalgia by the time of the invasion of Iraq; mass culture is designed for sedentary complacency but when society is in upheaval the media just has to wait until it's all over to start promoting expensive baubles again - - -

Set fire to the Antique Shop, We’re one step ahead of the cops. Mannequins of Elvis begin to melt. Free from past matters; free from guilt. Promoting the prosperity As we hoard hostility Androids ambushing Arkansas, They seek to find ménage trois. Achieving self-awareness They want fill the void’s emptiness Chugging R & R by the fifths. By our thumbnails we dangle off cliffs. Thread by thread, the veil unfolds. Standing all alone, I’m left in the cold. Show me how much you care. Push me in my wheelchair. Listening to what drives you crazy Eventually helps you stop being lazy. Lilly is spinning me dizzy She belongs to the world of yesterday The haze is now fading away. If only I could stay for just one day But Behold I feel you should be told I have come from the end When the Earth is condemned. As I tell the tall tale, How we came to live in hell, once we found the holy grail. “We overcame our fear The classified was made clear. We launched all the nukes, By order of the Skywalker named Luke. The framers were lousy architects; They left the balance completely hectic. The CEO’s got away with fraud. Thinking their work was the will of God.” I met you in the gloomiest bar. We speed across the town in my car. Questioning why we remained silent. The flickering florescent light compliment The tone of shallow yellow paint, I can finally hibernate. After I left the oblivious, Do I finally notice, It’s hesitation that leads me astray from redemption. TJW 2013

A mob boss for president… Yikes! That's what we've got-- One who profits from crime Without a second thought; Who keeps his family close by; Who's close to each paisano; Who looks less like a Lincoln, And more like Tony Soprano; Who praises convicted felons, And pardons them as well; Who cares less about country And more about his cartel. Loyalty is his mantra. His underlings owe him all. He sounds like a mobster when His back's against the wall. He'll rip you a new one if You ever decide to flip And prove that you're a rat, Or try to give him the slip. "Flipping should be illegal," He brazenly repeats. Without it he knows there'd be More crooks on the streets. A power-hungry bully: It's his goal to be one. Listen to his rhetoric: "I know a rat when I see one." His fixer threatens reporters And does the boss's bidding. But when he seeks revenge, The boss isn't kidding! Driven by ambition, Egomania and greed, He lets mob ethics guide him To always take the lead. He's the kind of guy You read about in books. Watch how he surrounds Himself with other crooks. Those who cooperate With law enforcement will find That he retaliates If ever he's maligned. Top decision maker, He gets such a thrill Promoting or demoting Anyone at will. Having a no-good mob boss As leader strikes a nerve Because it's hard to accept That that's what we deserve. -by Bob B (8-25-18)

The Mob Boss
We, the children of a system that awards you simple papers That state 'he/she has achieved what we deem quality' As we are all judged and graded in exactly the same way Because they promote individuality unless it's intelligence 'We all learn differently, and at different paces' Is an often preached sermon of our progenitors these days Yet I know more about synonyms for ancestry and parents Than how to survive once our papers begin to mean nothing So here I'd like you to tell me what is considered knowledge And I'd ask of the older generations to insert customary wisdom Because more adults have spat quotes to me like gospel Than tought me what I really need to know and value I've got a track record spanning back almost two decades Of being sorry for just being myself at all times So I think my teachers should be proud of themselves To know that the things they preach to me really get through You see, homework and exams mean almost nothing To those who need to really think on their feet Because this same system idolizes the memory Mistaking it for a wealth of rawest knowledge So I love it when they say school is too easy on kids now Rewarding losing and not promoting any ambition Because I've been berated for attaining success at any level Due to grades that define me not successful enough

Spending intangible dollars at the mercy of my ever growing appetite, Instead of buying my ticket out of this perfectly advantageous country, Which focuses solely on my beauty and money. I neglect my inner advice telling me to drop it all and run, To where I can breathe and focus on God, Promoting a healthier way of living and improving humanity. Momentary hope that unrealistically characterizes perfection As a quality that I can mentally download and miraculously make the above, true, Never seems to linger long enough to actually induce action, Which leads to disappointment draining the motivation essential to recover my missing pieces, Which pushes me to crave cash I don’t have, to pick up that dose, That hushes the unwarranted guilt that seduces me into thinking that I’m not incredibly blessed, And that I can’t handle what I’ve been dealt, Blurs the doubts I have about my abilities, my self- worth, Forcing me into a state of content that awakens my creativity, While vaguely being able to make out memories of let down led by myself and my mother, Who was a part of what was never good enough for my idea of a perfect family. I’ve wrongly accepted that a mediocre life-performance is to be had while following the crowd, While obsessing over flaws that are negligible to my true purpose in life, And with that I’ve become stifled by the decision to remain effortlessly stuck.

MY BOOK IN BUCKINGHAM PALACE
Violin strings Sing The story of my life Unlike the blues They play off Mahogany Often, we Look down at our past Overlooking The good quality Times And all Why reminisce Situations exempt Of bliss Sit in Situations Awaiting The arrival Of my rival Archenemy Has characteristics Found in me We Are a story Plotted With convictions Because of Our connection: Conflict My mistakes Stay with me As long As I let them “Forget regret It only begets upset” I can’t remember Where I came from I only remember The trips, Falls, And bumps Into the walls I can recall The long hallway I wanted to take But Afraid I turned away What lied at the end I’ll never know Death to those Who don’t find out! Too late I’m dead And the violin sings… Inside There’s not much moving No motion Promoting me Deeper into depression Deprived Of the one thing promised In life Life Lied to me The night I tried To live With what I lost Couldn’t cope Lost hope And the scope of issues Wrapped Around my throat As a rope I fought Long and hard To discard These Strings of destiny But the violin sings… Louder Than I can cry It plays Longer Than eye’s can cry Laughter Lays at the end Of the room Smiling In my face I look The other way And stay stuck In the past Beautiful music Tries to change The ugly mood But Happiness It doesn’t bring It just happens To have a melody Loaded With songs to sing My body Stays motionless And Only my hands Will ever dream As they move To the grooves And dance Across the strings.

College Life……! My heart peevish for some time, so beautiful were college life, No one can ignore to discuss, That how was his college life, At the time of admission we said, so long is our college life, The first step was to admit at college, The second was to retired from college life Then to sat in class first year, We take start for college life, But after very little period of time, First year were ignored from college life, Then on promoting of next class, I felt the beauty of college life, But the time has to go on and so on! And never wait to enjoy college life, Now before ending the session, To shares activities of college life.

College Life....!
Anyone can enter your church No matter what their age Mine, well, you have to be legal At least in the section that doesn't serve food Yours smells of incense and candle wax The air smells of wood polish Mine has stale beer and on humid days Remnants of cigars and cigarettes from years ago We have windows that can open But, most times they are painted shut Yours, beautiful colors of glass Images from the bible, glorious You have a choir singing the grace of God My place of worship has live bands once a month Karaoke on Fridays with wanna be singers Making us pray to God for it to end You have pictures of Saints on your windows And tapestries on the walls The closest we have is posters of sports teams And The St. Pauli girl promoting beer You will never find me at your church But, we may find you in ours on occasion We don't have sacramental wine like you But, we do have a larger drink menu for all People come to your church to wash away their sins Then a few hail Mary's and a Lord's Prayer With us, they come to drown their sorrows And our hail Mary's have bacon, 2 for 1 on Sunday Our sky pilot will listen like your pastor He doesn't judge unless you get too drunk But, that's on him, not you Your pastor won't judge, but, still gives penance I know where I am Sunday I know where you are too Your church is not always open Mine's good from 10 till 2

My church or yours?
When will people observe, the inner, poetic elegance… of Christ Jesus in my life? Does everyday nonsense of my human routine, disguise Him, while promoting strife? Striving for self-control, under an atmosphere of peace, my spirit is subtly stirred to honor my Lord; woven into my life is His fabric of Truth, that’s sustained by The Word. Though I’m utterly imperfect, my brokenness allows His Spirit to quietly glide around me- and touch the lives of those, who seek to arise above the… constraints of their humanity.
