Many people write a "bucket list" of things they want to do before they die.  Now in my 80th year, I don't have the time or the energy to do things that others might aim for, but I have during my life visited many places, seen many things, and enjoyed many experiences that I would have been sorry to miss. There have also been some events that I would have preferred not to experience, but which have enriched my life in different ways, and which I remember with a kind of sad affection.   Some of these are very personal to me, and would not be interesting to most people, but read the note if you wonder why I chose them. From depths of woe I raise to Thee The voice of lamentation; Lord, turn a gracious ear to me And hear my supplication; If Thou iniquities dost mark, Our secret sins and misdeeds dark, O who shall stand before Thee? To wash away the crimson stain, Grace, grace alone availeth; Our works, alas! are all in vain; In much the best life faileth: No man can glory in Thy sight, All must alike confess Thy might, And live alone by mercy. Therefore my trust is in the Lord, And not in mine own merit; On Him my soul shall rest, His Word Upholds my fainting spirit: His promised mercy is my fort, My comfort, and my sweet support; I wait for it with patience. What though I wait the livelong night, And till the dawn appeareth, My heart still trusteth in His might; It doubteth not nor feareth: Do thus, O ye of Israel’s seed, Ye of the Spirit born indeed; And wait till God appeareth. Though great our sins and sore our woes, His grace much more aboundeth; His helping love no limit knows, Our utmost need it soundeth. Our Shepherd good and true is He, Who will at last His Israel free. From all their sin and sorrow.                            ~ Martin Luther (1483-1546)

Every time people start to rise up, a whole buncha problematic mess gets thrown around regarding VIOLENCE. So, what is "violence" really?... It's the use of force. Plain and simple. What makes folks uncomfortable (who are otherwise comfortable in this system) is that UPRISING IS A SOMETIMES VIOLENT (read: forceful) REACTION TO SYSTEMATIC VIOLENCE: Yes, just like the Hunger Games... Thus, there are many types of violence... The fact that we are paying taxes that are funding the genocide and ****** of people of color (here and abroad) is violence. People with guns (former slave patrols and overseers, now cops) who come from outside our community and treat our folks as criminals on the daily is violence. Capitalism, i.e. wage/property/ecology-based exploitation in the name of profit is violence. The fact that LA County spends more $$ than anywhere in the world on prisons and police is violence. The fact that the US locks up more of its own people than any other country on record is violence. US aiding/funding the genocide of Palestinians at the hands of Israel is genocidal violence. From Congress, to the boardrooms, to the classrooms, from the gaze, to the unwanted touching, to the **** to the pay, Patriarchy everyday, is violence. A few people jacking some **** at Walmart or breaking a window is really minimal violence in comparison. A couple people throwing **** at armed cops is not serious violence. The idea of owning property that other must rent to live is violent. Systemic, chronic, global insecurity in the form of material poverty is violence. Wage slavery is violence. Gentrification is violence. The War On Youth, i.e. the School-to-Prison pipeline, and, thus the War-on-Drugs with its attending 76% recidivism rate in the prison-industrial complex, whose populations are disproportionately black males, is violence. The fact that people can't go to the doctor and dentist, or eat food every day is violence. Deportations are violence. Homophobia is violence. The world's largest global military that vaporizes people without due process in dozens of countries violating their biophysical and national sovereignty is violence. The United States government sanctioning the ****** of non-white, but especially Muslim bodies across the world... is violence. So, when you condemn violence, do you mean resistance? Because there is a whole lot of violence you should be condemning instead. Adapted from Emilio Lacques-Zapien

She finally shilled for the Intifada (stopping short of reciting Shahada), reaching out to the terrorist with righteous raised progressive fist… offering thus her neck to blade: collateral to be repaid by murderers who couldn’t care less about her open-mindedness.

Hot with zeal she fumed and stormed quite certain she was well-informed, at benefits, non-profit functions rallies, boycotts, left-wing luncheons; warm with righteous spite for Israel, aiding and abetting Ishmael with fellow-travelers, like-minded similarly hateful, blinded, rattling sabers, scimitars, axes… (lunacy never wanes, but waxes hotter with the passing years as activists confront their fears). She finally shilled for the Intifada (stopping short of reciting Shahada), reaching out to the terrorist with righteous raised progressive fist… offering thus her neck to blade: collateral to be repaid by murderers who couldn’t care less about her open-mindedness.

There is this place It’s called Palestine It used to be pretty And peaceful and lively The people lived as they do Everywhere else. Then there came to be this place It’s called Israel Which is basically Palestine But mercilessly occupied It attacked Palestine And took over most of its land. So now in Palestine Or what’s left of it Where there used to be quaint houses There’s just a lot of rubble With broken and burnt doors, utensils and limbs Jutting out from underneath. Where there used to be bright smiles That could light up the world There now are tears, burn marks and bloodied cuts That can rend any human heart Except those that are not human. It is a war, not between states Not between races, nor between fates Nay, this is a bigger war, one of faith At least, that is how it started But now, it is between human and non-human. Tell me, please Is it human to **** innocent people For the sake of self, and the sake of hate? Is it human then also, to remain quiet And watch such tyranny be? It must also be human, to point guns at 4 year olds. And by this definition, Humans of this world, humans that feel Are not humans at all, because they care And those that don’t, well They’re humans at their prime The most evolved of them all. Israel, I salute you, a salute full of mock At your utter humanity, and benevolence Your bombs when they land With the cheers of your people, And your guns when they point At 4-year old terrorists; surely they can **** Palestine, I stand with you, sincerely Your children, your people, your land and your peace Are my children, my people, my land and my peace Their bombs when they land, make my prayers fiercer Their guns when they shoot, make my eyes water But know this, Palestinians, we are one. So when they shoot you, I bleed And when they bomb you, I ache When they hurt you, I feel the pain And when you cry for help, I pray We are blood, we are one body We are the Ummah, we will rise. Until then we pray, we pray and we try Dear Palestine, stay strong, stay firm… Help shall come, in ways unimaginable *Do not weaken, and do not grieve You will overcome them, if you are true believers* Allah has promised, and His promise he upholds. ~Moniba.

The Story by Kamal Nasser translation by Michael R. Burch I will tell you a story ... a story that lived in the dreams of my people, a story that comes from the world of tents. It is a story inspired by hunger and embellished by dark nights of terror. It is the story of my country, a handful of refugees. Every twenty of them have a pound of flour between them and a few promises of relief ... gifts and parcels. It is the story of the suffering ones who stood waiting in line ten years, in hunger, in tears and agony, in hardship and yearning. It is a story of a people who were misled, who were thrown into the mazes of the years. And yet they stood defiant, disrobed yet united as they trudged from the light to their tents: the revolution of return into the world of darkness. Kamal Nasser was a much-admired Palestinian poet and Palestinian Christian, who due to his renowned integrity was known as "The Conscience." He was a member of Jordan's parliament in 1956. He was murdered in 1973 by an Israeli death squad whose most notorious member was future Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. Barak (born Ehud Brog) later ruled as Israel’s tenth Prime Minister from 1999 to 2001. His adopted Hebrew name Barak means "lightning." As a younger man, Brog/Barak was a member of a secret assassination unit that liquidated Palestinians in Lebanon and the occupied territories. In the 1973 covert mission Operation Spring of Youth in Beirut, which was part of the larger Operation Wrath of God, he disguised himself as a woman in order to assassinate Palestinians. The raid resulted in the deaths of two women, one of them an elderly Italian. Two Lebanese policemen were also killed, along with the poet Kamal Nasser. Nasser was the PLO's most prominent Christian and he enjoyed "great appeal" in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq "both as a distinguished poet and likeable personality." He was the “conscience of the Palestinian revolution,” according to Nazih Abul-Nidal, who worked with him on the magazine Filastin al-Thawra. Nasser “had the most democratic outlook of all Palestinian leaders at the time,” he recalls. He respected opposing views, admired the commitment of young people, and was a major recruitment asset for the Palestinian revolution. “That is why he was put high on the hit-list.” The previous year, the Israelis had murdered another renowned Palestinian writer and activist in Beirut, Ghassan Kanafani, by booby-trapping his car. Nasser’s successor, Majed Abu Sharar, was also assassinated by Israelis, in Rome in 1981 while attending a conference in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Sixty-seven children have been slaughtered. Sixty-seven dreams have been shattered. Sixty-seven beautiful faces have now vanished. Sixty-seven vibrant smiles have faded. Sixty-seven beds are left empty. Palestinian children, like all children, love to play. Palestinian children are longing for peace. The children of Gaza dream to be teachers, nurses, artists, engineers, and doctors. Palestinian children want to breathe. Palestinian children's lives matter! Palestinian Children’s Lives Matter
There's history in my hair please don't touch, handle with care. It's the same as this perfect pigment, this melanin I wear Richly rooted in my blood Whether dark or fair Sun kissed and kinked in bliss More love for my 'rough n tough Afro puff' She shines like the Sahara sun She smells like the salt of the Gold coast sea. Theres a hint of the bittersweet seed of the cocoa tree. Feels like the pillow that holds all your dreams with the dry Harmattan wind brushing against your cheek She'll whisper secrets of the motherland.... If you get close enough She holds like Mina Curls with pride Falls with grace and integrity. Stubborn like the struggle of the ones before me. Gravity defying masterpiece that's just a single piece of me, a reminder of my ancestry. It's my glory, my covering Don't take it lightly, don't misunderstand, I'm a work of art so please peep but just don't touch. © Raphaela Israel Öbeñg

An inland blockade from Israel cut off life giving supplies to the Palastians in Gaza. This happened around 2010. Formulated was the "GAZA FREEDOM FLOATILLA". Their strategy was to dock in Gaza-away from land-and deliver much needed life saving supplies. However, the flotilla was seized- on the sea -by the Israeli Navy consisting of one hundred and fifty sailors. Around ten people from one of the flotilla ships were killed and  brutality reigned supreme. ( a Turkish ship fought back ) Incarcerations from the floatilla to Israel's jails took place. And so I dedicate this writing to these wonderful people of conscience and their brave hearts upon the sea... Days of siege Days of conscience Days of hope Sailing to their destination Days remembered Day's compassion Days remembered these needed cargoes held Engines turning on paths of caution; love is carried on sailing symbols Each ship and boat will shout her name Will shout in spirit dear Rachel Corrie, dear Rachel Corrie Will shout in spirit dear Rachel Corrie Brave hearts you suffered so upon the sea Brave hearts you fought for truth, hope and dignity Brave hearts on floating love Brave hearts you are that peaceful powerful dove Brave hearts you are our guiding light Brave hearts you pierced that darkened blackened night Brave Hearts upon the sea...

Brave Hearts Upon The Sea
When brothers go to war there are no captives/ When brothers go to war we find only casualties/ The in explicable war between Palestine and Israel,/ In this poem i hope that peace would prevail/ Countries at the crossroads of heaven and hell/ Their war has lasted for ages/ Pain and revenge bitterness and hate/ When brothers go to war who dares to mediate/ Who knows of their fate who knows whose right/ Its bee like this for so many years/ Who will be there to wipe their tears/ Who will be there to give hope to those in fear/ Who will dare to go and interfere/ When brothers go to war know that the end is near/ Hold on and sanctify your soul in prayer/ When brothers go to war who is the villain who is the saint/ The war of Israel and Palestine stained in red paint/ A revelation to the faint hearted/ A lesson to the boastful and egocentric/ Innocent lives lost when brothers go to war/ A gentle answer turns away wrath/ But a harsh word stirs up anger/ A hot tempered man stirs up dissension/ But a patient man calms a quarrel/ When brothers go to war who dares mediate (c) ISSAI

WHEN BROTHERS GO TO WAR
The invitation had arrived and I was over the moon It is really quite a mouthful, and it is coming soon The Second International Gender Non-Specific Inter-Denominational, from Atlantic to Pacific Freshwater Synchronized Swimming Competition It's been eight years since the first was won by China It was held in Illinois in a place known as Medinah Turns out the swimmers used were just not what they seemed The chinese had a total of nine atheists on their team So, the time has come to try again and bring it to fruition The I.G.N.I.D Freshwater Synchronized Swimming Competition No date has been decided yet, due to issues with each church So, even though the invitations out, we're still left in the lurch Saturday is out because the Jews are all at temple Sunday, the Christians all must set a good example Friday, cuts the muslims out for they are at Mosque praying So we've four days to hold this meet, is what I am now saying The Chinese team is back again, but the Atheists are out The team's made up of Christians and two Jews who are devout Their working on a movement that involves making a cross The Christian swimmers get it but the Jews don't give a toss The team from Israel's withdrawn because they are all sitting Shivah They had a coach drown last week, he hit his head while in the River The Arabs won't be back, you see they're not interested in the least They get confused while under water and don't know which way is east The I.G.N.I.D Freshwater Synchronized Swimming Competition Will take place in the New Year, we just need to get permission The Jews won't swim with Muslims, and the Sikhs are up in arms Because swimming with their daggers may cause other swimmers harm But, we've got a great location at the lake up at the park We can use it when we want to , but it must be after dark Remember keep an eye out for a poster where you pray We don't know just when we'll hold it, it may just be today This is your invitation and the event is coming soon It is really quite a mouthful, and it'll be held beneath the moon The Second International Gender Non-Specific Inter-Denominational, from Atlantic to Pacific Freshwater Synchronized Swimming Competition See you there...

“My dream date is after we’ve already been dating for a few months and decide to go out on the town. We meet a cute guy, buy him drinks, and spend the next few hours laughing together and maybe slaying it at a karaoke bar. Afterwards we invite him back to my place and get into some role play. I become Israel, he Palestine, and you The Goddess that helps them finally come together, even though Israel has to bend over a little bit to make it happen. Confession: this is a dream date. I have to become really committed to physical therapy again in order to get my singing voice back for karaoke and I live with old country people so it’d have to be at your place.”

Dr. Patricia Green Receives Word From The Lord (Yaweh Will Destroy America)
Today's world is not as it seems, Cancer now comes in packs of twenty And our idea of food is a burger with twenty-percent meat, And NO-ONE cares or thinks for themself Ones worth is measured only in wealth The children are hungry, Our veterans ignored Hunger for money and lust for oil brought us war, Ukraine in "crisis" and MH370 missing, The C.I.A. funded Isis we just won't believe it, So put down the phone and open your eyes, Realize Real Eyes Real Lies It shouldn't take a genius to see this So I will not forgive, I'll NEVER forget, about 9/11 or Israel's daily blank check Because we fund their wars with Gaza and more We bomb the Mosques, hospitals and more We've been deceived, shammed, tricked and lied to, So ask yourself, who am I? Who are you? We're the awoken ones with SO much left to do Open your eyes and simply wake Wake the **** up for our children's sake Sometimes I just think about things, What will our children's future bring? Will there be one at all or won't it exist? Open your eyes Realize And think about it

The Grand Scheme of Things
*by Charles Wesley (1707-1788)* Come, Thou long expected Jesus Born to set Thy people free; From our fears and sins release us, Let us find our rest in Thee. Israel's strength and consolation, Hope of all the earth Thou art; Dear desire of every nation, Joy of every longing heart. Born Thy people to deliver, Born a child and yet a King, Born to reign in us forever, Now Thy gracious kingdom bring. By Thine own eternal Spirit Rule in all our hearts alone; By Thine all sufficient merit, Raise us to Thy glorious throne. ~ Charles Wesley

Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus (hymn)
Like a peacock on a roof, I’m a wonder with height American-Jew on Mt. Harmon. My tallis are bright feathers My tefillin, my beak. In Israel they are me. Why do I feel different in the Land? Like a peacock on a roof, I’m curiously at home.

A man must be knowledgeable, says God For him to come in the presence of God, He who has his male members dismembered Or his testicles crushed whatsoever, He shall not be permitted to enter in to the synagogue, To worship Jehovah God of Israel, says the deutronomical god of Jews And today I am ill fated, my testicles are crushed, By the grenade thrown by a terrorist, Here in Nairobi, an Islamic terrorist Has crushed my testicles, in his guest For the land of Palestine usurped by Israelis, How do I worship you God of Israel?

MY TESTICLES ARE CRUSHED
Excerpts from “Travels with Einstein” by Michael R. Burch for Trump I went to Berlin to learn wisdom from Adolph. The wild spittle flew as he screamed at me, with great conviction: “Please despise me! I look like a Jew!” So I flew off to ’Nam to learn wisdom from tall Yankees who cursed “yellow” foes. “If we lose this small square,” they informed me, earth’s nations will fall, dominoes!” I then sat at Christ’s feet to learn wisdom, but his Book, from its genesis to close, said: “Men can enslave their own brothers!” (I soon noticed he lacked any clothes.) So I traveled to bright Tel Aviv where great scholars with lofty IQs informed me that (since I’m an Arab) I’m unfit to lick dirt from their shoes. At last, done with learning, I stumbled to a well where the waters seemed sweet: the mirage of American “justice.” There I wept a real sea, in defeat.
