"infrastructure" poems
poverty, the one thing that is always kept in the dark there are a lot of rich people in this country, but they don't care the government promises jobs and infrastructure, but they take our money for themselves undercover the government promises education for all, yet there are still many kids who are still uneducated what the government doesn't know is that the lack of education and high crime rates are all related. we live in a country which is so beautiful, it really hurts me to see a father who is unable to put food on the table it really hurts me to see people sleeping on the side of the road, treating it like its a bed it really hurts me to see people begging on the streets, because they don't have the money to be fed.

poverty
The Earth was ours. We filled its fertile fields full of Plants of our own choosing: our own design. To provide for ourselves we drained the Earth Because the Earth was ours. We populated the islands that The Earth had built for us from its own skin. Like parasites we kept it alive for our needs Because the Earth was ours. Then one day the Earth spoke: You who crawl over my face, Unthinking for the blemishes you build. You till my skin and plough my bones, you drink My tears and feast on my flesh. Slowly, my fiery Vengeance has brewed, bubbled upwards And wrath shall be known. It will begin as a rumbling. You will think I tremble with terror at your might But the movement of your monuments is more my Laughter at your lowliness. The hallways of your houses Will be hewn by themselves as my body convulses to be rid of the Sickness of you. You will sound your two-tone Armageddon sirens In vain as my thunderous thoughts tumble your towers Fragment your foundations. Break your brick walls. Stone on stone will spark, igniting infrastructure And your cities will burn. But it is just the beginning. I will bury you. I will bury you in the fire of my fury. I will bury you in the ashes of my anger. You will solidify, screaming, into silent stone. You will choke, child-like, on my smoke. You will die by my hand: your home. And I will bury you. And this to me is easy. I am greater than all you build from My body. So I use my body to wreak ruin: Reduce your greatness to rubble and dust Because the Earth was always mine. I was always my own.

Calamitous collapse of structure forged With steel and concrete built for time, Since Roman times a formula endured With engineers additional design. Why, then, did this structure fail, Did mortar crack, did reinforcing strong, Shear and plummet in an instants time To crush and doom this bridges song. In teeming rain a  silence hung Where watchers gaped in stunned awe, A magnitude of devastation lay Pulverized in valley floor. Astonishing this expanse of space Where seconds past, huge edifice, Imbued with its’ charge of lives Unknowingly to meet abyss. Innocence has lost its’ life Blame resounds around the room Someone shall pay the price For negligence in causing doom. Truth be told it’s shared by all For Italy has lagged behind Cost cutting infrastructures’ purse Because of economic bind. Time to reassess the plan Time to weep and bury dead, Clear the rubble from the land Rebuild well then forge ahead. Blame not the engineer Nor the man who drew design, Blame not the hardhat Who poured the concrete in the line. Reassign the budget spend To infrastructure, pay its share For sentiment is running hot To axe the fool who pares the fare. M. Storeman Civil Infrastructure Hamilton, NEW ZEALAND

The Genoa Calamity
Hopelessness is the worst feeling of all Hope must be the very scaffolding upon which we build ourselves Because the moment hope dissipates the moment it begins to wear and give way We collapse within forgetting any light that ever previously illuminated the circumstance When you demolish a building, you don't have to destroy every piece but merely compromise its infrastructure The same goes for destroying a person, or even a group of people. You don't have to destroy them as a whole but simply destroy their hope and watch as they collapse inwardly

Hopelessness
She walks down pavement She makes the government’s infrastructure look like beauty Her beauty turns away the rules of the snooty conservative government The constitution loses its soul When she bends over to check the hood of a car about to roll Her boyfriend accompanied by other boyfriends who hit on her I stand on the sidelines Problem is I murmur You probably thought a stutter was worse She’s such a high class gal Despite her sultriness and I’m not judging But I must mention she goes to Church So you might still mistake her for being an uptown sister She dances to rock music Her head doesn’t even sway to the EDM that the plebeians surrounding her play She’s an anachronism But she just needs me to introduce her Monet’s impressionism I bet her cultural values force her to mould Picasso’s Cubism Even though I’m not a man’s man She without influence is not enough Because influencing is love And I hope it is to this cute rebellious dud I suppose from her house she ran When she looked morose in school during period nine It was English Drama and suddenly she couldn’t seem to remember the line With her friends flanking her she walks and talks She’s on the phone while she’s wearing her socks She’s on the prowl she’s an active girl That women is close to my heart And I hope to treat her like a clam treats its pearl

Yet I Am Ready Watching the waves eat away the castles made of sand Staring at the way wind is churning at infrastructure       land like a big bad wolf who found the fear and lean foundation of a brick house I am ready for her hand I am all ready Traversing fields filled with fruitless wonders burning tundras rolling thunders A Man attempting to put out its grand made funeral pyre with nothing but a Jack and Jill bucket filled with reverse osmosis electrolyte infused hydrogen oxygen expired prayers I am Ready for no man land I have a radio already Listening to Nokia raven chirps and bubble bee gyrations. Evergreens whispers as wild blooms break concrete and asphalt and building plans giving smiles to homeless man and woman dreamers flowering in the night lights that were supposed to replace stars I am ready for the woods to takeover the hoods for bear feets to take over the streets for napkins to become extinct to write with my god-given red ink so that my being will dye into stone and dirt To leave my DNA on my mothers belly and hear her cry As she covers my mouth closes her eyes tearful from radioactive winds let her know that I loved her and hugged her every chance I could I am ready to give up me for we have not given back enough We have devoured the essence and forgotten how to seed and harvest   the nothing has become us which is why Earths flesh is colored rust like  blood mixed with scratching dust we have bruised the body and wonder if we can blame something someone else but US Every time the finger points the object of our deflection disappears Rearrange the letters she was trying to help us HEARt Rearrange the letters EARth is trying to make us Heart I'm trying to make us Ear These MTHFCKRS are among US. Dr. Patricia Green Receives Word From The Lord (Yaweh Will Destroy America)
We humans have messed around With Mother Nature and her eco-system For years and years Decades and decades Centuries and centuries Felling gazillions of trees Turning forests into concrete jungles Filling ponds, lakes, rivers and seas With tons and tons of toxic waste Releasing enough carbon monoxide into the air To wreck the entire troposphere The list of sins against Nature goes on and on With no end in sight Given all this, who are we to complain When Mother Nature has had enough And unleashes her fury on us Through earthquakes and tsunamis Avalanches and volcanoes Hurricanes and tornadoes Floods and droughts And so on Remember, Mother Nature has blessed us With oodles of riches In the form of plants and trees Mountains and forests Ponds, lakes, rivers, seas and oceans And last but not the least, oxygen! It is time we show her some gratitude And more importantly, respect and compassion And stop messing around with the eco-system Remember the famous old saying Live and let live It doesn't mean infrastructure shouldn't be developed We can build roads We can build a railway network We can build houses We can build schools and colleges We can build hospitals We can build libraries However, as my grandfather used to say There is a limit to everything And we should also plant trees Build gardens and parks Switch to renewable sources of energy And cut down severely on emissions A balance should be maintained After all, messing around with Mother Nature Will only bring about our own downfall There have been enough natural disasters Caused by human negligence Let's not add to the list Which is already longer than the river Nile!

Why We Shouldn't Mess Around with Mother Nature
Walking in a circle is, in the fondest sense, going absolutely nowhere, even though it feels better than walking completely backwards. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I have never even been face to face with you and mine grows weaker and weaker with the length of time between the moments I get to touch you. The strange thing is that, prior to meeting you, I have a hard time describing what it was I was even doing - the storms you have hurled into my quiet life is all I know now, and I never realized just how flimsy my own infrastructure was. I have seeped into the walls you throw dishes in and the floors you roll around on, and I feel everything your fists do equally, if not more. Who knows my body better than you? The places I dip and divide and slope and bend; who has held me down with nothing but words and sweaty silence that lay thick enough for us to cut with butcher knives? My stomach is trained to clench is desperation when your name is mentioned and I am nervous around anyone who shares with you; a picture is worth a thousand words, but your name is worth one million, and you've never spoken mine aloud but I have murmured yours, like a mantra, repeatedly, groaning in the way wounded animals do and trembling with that same fear. I can't count on my fingers how many nights I traded sleep for a reason to talk to you, and all too well do I know how many lifetimes are crammed into the seconds before an anticipated phone call. People might wonder how I even survive when you aren't around, but how many ways can a dog entertain himself when the master is away? Oftentimes, in a state of unwarranted panic, I claw at my clothes as though you are lurking underneath, and only rarely are you there, metaphysically. I am not the only person the rain falls on; I understand that there are plenty of others who are lulled by the charm of someone who knows nature of a human being in the way that otherworldly creatures might, but in this instance I know that everyone is haunted in their own exclusive way, and you are always flickering in the periphery of my blurry vision when my bedroom lights are out.

Clever minds that stretch The many elements which live as our backdrop Too often everyday is spoiled By unnecessary people, gathering ammunition For climbing invisible platforms of command These are cast aside by simple smiles and welcomes And it was. Even if the task was invisible to me at first My soul felt at home amongst these new work mates My responsible position was underwritten Given gravitas and a freedom to which I wasn't quite used The time was charged with familiar but different It was fraught but strangely healthier in paradox The honest fight was taken with gestures of family proportion Success had waned but the unity of 'knowing' was the strength That continued to support that Company In spite of the turmoil my personal facets were given air To run and to adjust, to temper and to manage Poor communication was completely disastrous The confusion of three currencies And the balance of understanding left us guessing Never mind agreement or translation Through all this, looking back my heart is lifted Not by the freedom or the ability to achieve ...mostly, It is the strength from our leader, That calm, silver haired man When many were distraught you kept us going And fed us with hope and built our confidence, Not always with the obvious But gave us the ability to win through by believing , Believing in us and building back our motivation and teasing out The raw infrastructure of our true capabilities Never before has anyone, apart from my Mother Believed in me as you did. To tackle the toughest of tasks Anything that the industry, the public or our customers Could throw at us, we dealt with it. Sadly you could do nothing at the final demise but take the role Of a father giving news of an aged relative sadly moved by A force greater than yourself I know had you the influence, the power and the funding............ You were always more than a boss Chris Your transparent enthusiasm raised our spirits And in times of worry I hope we lifted yours too. I think of you often, thank you for being a friend After we were no longer professionally connected. I see your generous smile and your warm handshake I can hear your laugh now It's always a treat to catch up over a beer. I now find you in my phone, in my photographs But mostly in my heart for being a great bloke You taught me so much. Speak soon, with love, Max

Three-legged spider on a ***** tile Eyeball rolls, clean in hand Massive metal door opens, up top a hill Graveyard of ever-ringing cells. What's real creepy to you? Enclose the city, lock us out ..for good Condemned as doomed, living dead Big guns survive in metallic domes See the crass ******** shoot us down! Wanna talk about what's creepy, huh? Plunderers now lay down new laws Can't fight the sick, red sway Random acts of violence bay Armoured eyes see all from lofty towers. Creepy autocrats hide the truth, right? No soaring when blood runs rivers Tripping over rotting corpses Decaying stench of hope dying Help will come, we must believe! Do you believe lies to your face? Infrastructure's down, no services Power's out, no more flushing Car carcasses aflame on every corner, yet How come big brother's eyes still move? Are the gullible ones really stupid and feeble? Sun shines, but nothing grows Rain seeps red away into sewers Crops of twisted metal, hoards of guns Skeletal trees adorn our landscape. Why hold askance your glance skyward? The gates will open to let us in Surely, they witness our hardship! There must exist a life beyond this strife Uproar, bombard, gas, artillery....then no more.... Can you ever cease to have temerity? In face of adversity, calamity and injustice We should NEVER cease to be exasperated! Hope must prevail; faith must live; Thoughts expressed; love and respect must survive. Can you afford your spirit just to let go....? Think about it. Creepy autocrats eternally rank ... My heart broke 700 times I'm glad you found your closure It feels like it opened a cavity in my chest A billowing hole ******* the air From out of my lungs and Away from my brain Away from the sanity I've created Where I thought I felt secure But instead the infrastructure was so weak That the simple memories you mentioned Left a mark on me yet again As my heavy heart weighs me to my bed And I wish so desperately to be alone I feel as though I'm dying I must accept reality as it is I know that all too well That's why I agreed to meet To see you To see me To see us Now We're different than we once were And while I understand how and why My soul mourns the moment And I know I should just live it fully Because so soon it'll pass And once again We'll be strangers on the street One heart armored with reinforced steel The other a sloppy mess of Broken shards and what ifs Rotting until it turns to ash And new flowers bloom from its death

Emotional Residue
There should be a genre of poetry called waste verse tasteless and terse like the khaki pine needles that litter the space underneath your porch. a neglected place, where the broken blue bottles and dew marry in early morning , attended by a congregation of woodchips, beers cans and guinea pig **** dancing easy with the morning breeze, and carried like the currency of an early dreamer's reverie, morning. morning. morning is gluing a teacup together knowing that it will be broken tomorrow. and day by day, the absence in form will grow until that once teacup becomes nothing but empty space, with its base designated in place of the back porch ash tray. when i turned back one day, there was nothing left of its body nothing left of it that i could see but paint dust, a couple of cuts and some blood covered by a bandaid that doesn't stay on because feet sweat a little too much. morning is repetition for comfort but breaking routine is starting to feel more appealing than keeping it, because I know one morning I will wake alone, with a rusted infrastructure and fractured backbone, and have to look upon a screen with thousand texts that read, "there are other fish in the sea" well, **** you, maybe he was my sea. i mean, he is my sea, maybe. there is a genre of waste verse called poetry, and the simple syllogism of it all leaves me reeling. but after i finish my cigarette over the khaki pine needles beneath your porch and go inside, "good morning", i say. "good morning", he said. i cannot remember what was so important just a few moments ago. morning.

As life in Israel flourishes For Israelis, it's not so fine-- As many conditions deteriorate-- For the poor people of Palestine. Chances of a two-state solution Dwindle, which is not a good sign As settlement expansions increase, Affecting the people of Palestine. For Palestinians imprisoned in Gaza, The infrastructure is in a decline. Will Gaza be uninhabitable for The poor people of Palestine? Defining what is their land, Israeli Lawmakers draw a hard line: This land belongs to the Jews, they say, Forgetting the people of Palestine. Cuts in economic aid And hospital care will undermine The health and quality of life Of the poor people of Palestine? Will an Israeli apartheid regime Be the ultimate design, Or will there be hope for the poor Struggling people of Palestine? -by Bob B (10-22-18)

In March of 2010 a 46 year old white male was brought to this hospital after a severe 'episode'. He was placed in the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit .  He was diagnosed with " Major Depression ". . The oceans are dying, Coral reefs are bleached, Ghostly acidic in the seas, Climate is changing, not for Nero, But for subjects who wait in whirlwinds Eye, underneath uncapped mountain peaks, And water is draining underground.  Where is Reason, where is sense uncommon?  Not with Elected hands who are wringing to lords of zero, Whose legions are sent off, engaged in foreign wars, To scathe, faraway dramas brought back home, Politicians squabble, as they reel, cashing in, Seals of unapprovals, witness hollow, low rings, Infrastructure crumbles, above our dry heads, And Nero plays his fiddle, in a land of perky dead, John Lennon said NYC was in reality the new Rome, soon set to burn, in a decade or so, Nero knows, Nero plays, could give a feck' Humanity is Nero playing his fiery fiddle There is only one issue of news that matters, Not bread, or circus, Kardashians, or deflated Footballs, it is our survival, the earth, heating up, Is angry and we are small, deaf, blind and numb, A mankind of fools with Nero playing his fiddle.

Nero's World
Yes, mechanical leaf mover, create the shrillest sounds known to man. See if it doesn't just slowly make the world a ******** place by taking away the joy of crunchy leafs, which gradually become moist, squishy leafs, then, after a long period, emerging from a snow covering thaw and lie there, fully exposed, recumbent, depriving the dormant seed of grass its sunlight, preventing grass, freeing up water for infrastructure needs more urgent and rational than supporting the most boring of decorative plants encompassing our lives. I guess what I'm saying is that, not only are your sounds annoying, they're just another of the short-sighted endeavors our present society insists on. You are the "circumcision-for-hygiene-purposes" of our urban planning. **** you, leaf blower. **** you and the excruciating environmental ignorance you represent. I SAID **** YOU, LEAF BLOWER, YET YOU PERSIST! You need to let that leafy-foreskin grow, covering the shaft of ground. Rid it of the pleasure-impeding growth of grass! Let the earth cry out for the sensation of tiny points of pressure moving delicately along its surface. Let the ground erupt with wild flowers, or at the very least, the trampled exuberance of plodded soil and the desperate levels of human debris that would collect upon it. Or are you trying to hide our wastefulness from us by removing something which is nothing, a nothing, invisible barrier? You've already succeeded in giving my apartment complex the ambience of an industrial production complex which I suppose it always was. Maybe your attempt at concealment has been a revelation. Or maybe I just can't think straight, because there's been a ******* leaf blower circling below my window all morning and now a heavy, riding lawn mower is coming to cut the grass that hasn't grown since September but has been watered every day even though it froze last night and it's almost November.

For fuck's sake with the leaf blowers!?

I write this from a library under the watchful gaze of Voltaire, Having read that the future of Earth's water is being debated in Morocco. Isn't there a Utilitarian part of us all that strives to save our home, And rejects the notion that we must **** where we eat to make progress? Gambling becomes dangerous when you begin to stake declining resources. There is no turning back, and there is little optimism from Millennials who shall inherit the rotting infrastructure. Nothing is dramatic or blown out of proportion when the President can't acknowledge that there's something seriously wrong with a giant hole in the ozone. Herr Trump, where is the ice going? Would you sell the penguins for profit? Tell the Polish Brigade that legal workers will restore this country's ideal greatness. Tell them sincerely. Reagan spouted that it was Morning in America, and I imagine the Trumpites feel the same. What is morning, anyway, when you can't see the sun for the smog?

Marrakech. (On the Future of the Environment.)
early morning and the same sun rises over distant lands and close-by skyscrapers searing rusting infrastructure with its harsh orange glow spreading westward, stretching over asphalt pathways that connect, divide, structure, and destroy alighting wearied faces of automobile drivers careening through their morning commutes, consuming caffeine like ******* while they deftly maneuver their 2,000 pounds of steel behind, along, aside, and ahead of their neighbors this, is New Jersey, where all roads lead to Newark and there is nothing left but roads approaching the colossus, the cars cram and crawl into curb-side cases narrowly avoiding calamitous collisions and condescending traffic cops doors, fly open and a mad flurry of arms and legs, boxes and backpacks come whirl-winding out onto the entryway rushed goodbyes and abrupt adieus color the palette of the doorway dripping inside, bleeding into the harshness of late businessmen and screaming families. Shoes Off. Laptops Out. and pray dearly that the TSA doesn't shove their fingers inside of you today. arms up, legs spread exposed to the imperceptible energy of American exceptionalism the magnetic arm swings, impregnating its subjects with the Joy of Fear and the awe of empire swings again, and releases the hapless passenger from its total control Through. Checked. Complete. Pass Go, collect $200. and into the international installation itself. Enjoy your flight.

not quite Rome
When a rain-storm surprised the city Passers-by looked down with pity At a large group of nutters Inspecting the gutters An unfortunate planning committee. They decided today was good timing Below-streets they soon were climbing Where the gutters connect To the sewers they checked And all got a very good sliming.

Infrastructure
A love like pomegranate seeds — I am condemned to a mortal marriage with Death, waiting for his hands to touch me in the winter; I am stuck inside an autumnal equinox, waiting for the spring. My mind is a brothel — filthy and thoughts floating in and out but not looking for any sort of commitment. But you say that my brain is efflorescent and something lovelier than I would believe. There are cities in the palms of my hands, once teeming with life like the Great Barrier Reef, but now moan the silent sounds of desolation within a Chernobyl wasteland; but you are roaming the ashes atop my fingertips like a lost child trying to unearth the memories of her mother beneath the rubble of a shaken faith, despite knowing she was lost forever in the wake of brutal destruction, kicking me left and right as though I were the collapsed mountain of infrastructure in the wake of early September, 2001. I say all this to confirm that I do miss your voice and its fluidity on the phone — I miss your voice even though I know you'll hang up, and I wish I felt that way about living. I only want you to hold my sticky heart like melted candy.  I want you to stop sighing and slumping in your chair like the names of every Holocaust victim is engraved on your eyelids. I want you to smile like an innocent child, for once.

oh my darling, oh my darling
We are the calloused hands of agriculture The sun burned neck of labor The bruised heel of infrastructure We are those who go without praise or applause Who wake up early And go to sleep late So that our sons and daughters have food on their plates We are hated for our pigment We are hated for our accent Pigeonholed as rapists and smugglers But really, we do the **** pendejos would never do And we do it with pride on our sleeves And love in our hearts Because sometimes our families are countries apart We take jobs that are not glamorous And let racists hammer us And use that hammer to sustain our families
