Clothes have outgrown me many times over, but this sadness never does. One size. fits all. There should have been an obituary for cancer,  not you. Wishing these slits within my skin could have been replaced by a reality check from you, “You chose to exist.” My name causes a sigh to escape from lips, that do not feel like they belong to me, the girl, whose words always had to be special. The schematics of hospitals like a birthmark in my brain, born into sadness, a gut feeling as a child. Never trusting time due to what it delivers. Death, being the only thing I desired. But you,  who I love, endlessly- robbed by it. Whose ebb for life glowed so feverishly. Stopped comparing depression to lace, restricted the belief that suicide is poetic, seeing things as they were. More often than not, applauded for feeling emotions deeply. Every second that dies, the shift of my heart quakes. This world is not tender. II. Sad. I have known the flowers I wanted at my own premature funeral, knowing how many bouquets honored you that day. split open my veins like a dimension reminiscent of days where I anticipated deathbeds. My family wondered, can we make it through another day? Death scares me for what it has taken, yet, I’m not afraid to die- it’s all I deserve. So I await the day pain erupts from my throat, acknowledging the days a soul lived inside of my body- footprints that walked, belonging to me. But I learned so well. How to suffer with a smile, dreading the beating of my heart how unfair— I don’t want to take these deep breaths You deserved,while I masquerade as a member of the undead Never outgrowing the desire to rot with the phantoms residing under my bed. III. Jokes played by the universe. punchlines delivered, how could anyone to stand to be in the same room as myself? How could anyone look over skyscrapers and sunsets, and not be infatuated with concrete consuming them? How I shared a sigh of relief during the thought- of knowing people would thrive without me, or the power of a belly laugh, resembling a laugh track audience drowning out 3 AM suicidal thoughts.

Three Minute Warning A messenger delivers A three minute warning As I lay in bed at 10:30 am (Resting in preparation for, not from, our oops, early morning hike). Breakfast will be ready in 3, Get your **** in gear or else It will be cold, I'll be mad, And you will answer to a Higher Authority. No problem cause I already know All I need is two. Splash water on my face Now I'm presentable enough to the human race, current company probably won't be happy, But I ain't telling her, are you? Shave! You crazed? It is a three day weekend, Every day a July Fourth, Celebrating freedom from the European tyranny, Of shaving smooth  every day! Splash water on my head, count with me, Five brush strokes as you can plainly see Is a classic case of overcompensating In my geling n' hair stylin' Brush my teeth, well, I hope 2 full minutes of rinsing with  CVS Green stuff, mouthwash, will have to suffice. Blast my deodorant both sides, Long and strong, wearin' now My bold blue *** husk of musk, Cause I am a very considerate fellow Who happens to really have stunk. Clean T- shirt and shorts, Yes, clean underwear too, Leaves me a whole minute to write this scribble. My flip flop noises coming down the hallway, Are the butler announcing our joint arrival, Me and my poem. Lest you think this is paean to men Another grand male boast, Be advised this ditty be writty By a man who, while no longer gritty, Just put jelly on his scrambled eggs And ketchup on his toast! Mmmmmmm there might be a poem Lurking in that too...

all my life i've been preparing faces to meet the faces that i've met friends family the man who delivers newspapers at our doorstep each morning i've laughed at their silly jokes as they tossed their heads from side to side in naive stupidity and their sheer ignorance a pompous lot, the human race i tell you i've acknowledged their staunch morals and tried to make them my own as they scorned at the girl in a skimpy dress and chewed on mutton bones gluttonously all my life, i've been trying hard to blend in with people who've shown me that i don't belong with them and tonight when i shed gallons of tears i have only my bed and pillow to share i've learnt that my sadness is my very own

What is my soul? Is my soul the way I laugh? I laugh from the deepest part of me, joyfully celebrating my life. Is my soul the way I cry? I cry from the deepest part of me, embracing the pain my life delivers me. Is my soul the way I listen? I listen from the deepest part of me, learning everything life has to teach me. Is my soul the way I speak? I speak from the deepest part of me, telling life exactly what I think of it. Is my soul the way I hate? I hate from the deepest part of me, turning away all those who've hurt me? Is my soul the way I love? I love from the deepest part of me, Eternally bound to those people I care about. Is my soul solely my own? Is it possible to speak, to cry, to love alone? Is my soul a piece of God in me? Is my soul only mine because I have faith? Is my soul?

Soul
Babels of blocks to the high heavens towering Flames of futility swirling below; Poisonous fungi in brick and stone flowering, Lanterns that shudder and death-lights that glow. Black monstrous bridges across oily rivers, Cobwebs of cable to nameless things spun; Catacomb deeps whose dank chaos delivers Streams of live foetor that rots in the sun. Colour and splendour, disease and decaying, Shrieking and ringing and crawling insane, Rabbles exotic to stranger-gods praying, Jumbles of odour that stifle the brain. Legions of cats from the alleys nocturnal. Howling and lean in the glare of the moon, Screaming the future with mouthings infernal, Yelling the Garden of Pluto's red rune. Tall towers and pyramids ivy'd and crumbling, Bats that swoop low in the weed-cumber'd streets; Bleak Arkham bridges o'er rivers whose rumbling Joins with no voice as the thick horde retreats. Belfries that buckle against the moon totter, Caverns whose mouths are by mosses effac'd, And living to answer the wind and the water, Only the lean cats that howl in the wastes.

In the dimly lit chamber, we set the scene. An owner and his pet, a game of primal and prey. She kneels like an eager dog, a collar around her neck. He stomps his feet and keeps her obedience at play. The owner, like a magician, keeps tricks up his sleeve. He wants his pet to learn— to be his student and please. Commanding her to crawl, to fetch and beg. Waiting for him to call her a good little pet. She barks and whimpers, a puppy in passion. Spins three times and licks her master’s feet without a whine. The pet surrenders to her master’s might. She delivers his sturdy leather boots in a straight line. With a flick of the whip, the pet curls in elation. Her master chuckles at her sounds of temptation. Submitting to the cynicism of ******* and discipline. She is flogged like a plebeian, forgetting she’s a citizen. Pet and master, a bond so strong. The two are bound by zeal, craving one another. She wallows in the comfort of her belly rubs and treats. And runs around with a rush of red in color. She goes through treacherous training. And yelps if she’s ever caught complaining. Waiting for a tasteful gift: the eternity collar. When she is ready, he puts it on with honor.

An Owner and His Pet
See, it’s more of a… hypnosis, A deep slumber of an everlasting fantasy. Trust me, I love it. Like a whisk into a different parallel world Filled with flashing colors that swirl and twirl, in fact, kind of similar to a dress on a ballroom floor. Not just any ballroom floor though. No, this, like Van Gogh’s Starry Night a masterpiece that cannot be replicated, and to step foot on it is one of careful deep sea excitement I wish to step there. However, I am a tad ungraceful and my feet are about as elegant as a scuba diver’s flippers. So I might just impersonate one and dive deep into the sea of the unknown and secret homes hoping it delivers an innate whisper of the anticipation, the excitement of this hypnotic, starry world. Deeper I go, into this never ending oceanic abyss With the darkness just as tongue twisting as it gets Looking for something, anything, to salvage my reason for going this deep, this late, Because I have a tendency to procrastinate about the tasks most essential to my fate. But, if you want, you can accompany me and we can scuba dive together into the deep sea of the not yet discovered and shining beacons of wonder And if we’re lucky, we might find the lost city of Atlantis. And while we’re there we can search and search for the spoils and riches of the hidden majesty and wouldn't it be just lovely if we find a treasure chest, something? With an eye for design we can admire it’s beauty but we have to open it because that’s the secret in the treasure. To open it. And the contents are the spoils. Open it.

Resplendent rose, luminous green, Lucid paradisaical palette, The jewel delivers It's dyed, distinctive sheen Graciously, unassumingly Casting a pink and emerald crewel Coalescing into traces, Cuisine for sunbeams Brushing nature's easel -- Bedecking the constellation lighting on earth, Realizing among tureens: Scalloped edge profusions offering The spoonbill waif Sweet adrenaline, Fueling it's sojourn in the atmosphere. Bird of prey, humming minstrel, Airy, iridescent meddler Between red blooms, Distant gem's sparkle Gracing redolent, languid afternoons Cloaked in shimmering velveteen, Beating velocious wings, remaining still.

Abigail slides the glass door shut. As beads of water percolate off her body and land on the faux stone tile, the smell of chlorine from her swim and the smell of coffee from my brewing *** blend. My uncle, Abigail's father, and my mother are seated at the sticky, spilt soda kitchen table beside me. "Go get ready for dinner," my mother's brother says, sending Abigail's bikini'd frame through doorway and around the bend. The brew idles, and I'm all porcelain and sugar substitute for a moment, then back by my uncle and mother. "Abigail has gotten so thin," my mother says. "Is she eating?" my mother asks. "I know it's tough for girls her age. When they're looking to marry," my mother says. I want to bash the smoking cup into her face. My uncle says she's been training for a marathon. My neurons get tidy and taper off. So, it's out of the kitchen and into an empty living room to park my *** on an empty piano bench. I set the coffee on top, and press eight of my fingers down on black keys. I hear toes-to-heels, toes-to-heels. I gaze over my shoulder. Now, Abigail's in a black, black dress. Mid-thigh. In her left hand, red fuck-me-shoes with a heel that could turn a curious man blind; in her right hand, black pantyhose and cherry lipgloss. "You should have swam," Abigail delivers with hushed precision, like she'd been reciting the line throughout the duration of her swim. Abigail has long brunette hair, and it's sticking to her neck. Deep permanent dimples frame her lips. She's a nurse in Waco. Each time I see her, I think about Bukowski's 103-pound "Texan". It makes me rash, violent, a heady monstrosity, and trembling sick. "I forgot my trunks." "That's no excuse." I would respond, but she's sliding the hose up her leg. In the living room. While my uncle talks a second mortgage around the bend. Her right leg crosses her left, an overpass and an interstate. My forehead overheats in a flash, and I feel like she's staring back at me. When my leering eyes shift from her toes to her eyes, the pupils beckon: "All roads lead to me."

The ivory poacher stalks his prey each day he walks the silent plains a gun slung high upon his arm no warmth within his gaze Elephants nor rhinos sought but two or one extensions of an ivory tower painted red a bullseye meaning meant for dead The ivory poacher sights his barrel warily delivers narrow slivers of a weathered corpse thundering down to the earth an ivory tower in his hand or two if it's an elephant a clean pristine white he holds high and on his soul a red bullseye

When did my feelings get so deep Why did they take that big long leap Going from friend to crush What a rush And I don't think she knows Since when did her smile make me go weak Since when did her tears make mine start to leak Why does this happen when I'm always so strong When people called me Superman I guess they were wrong And I don't think she knows When she talks I cant help but watch her lips To notice their shape and curves when they dip Wait, why am I looking? I don't even know And I cant help but wonder if she even knows Her beautiful eyes are nothing like ours They're so deep and bright you'd believe they were stars They pour forth emotions in raging rivers They could make even me believe that Santa always delivers And still she has no idea Her body is perfection though she denies it It makes my head spin with every glance I give She could put any man under her spell But she doesn't know how I feel and I don't think I'll tell I love how she looks and who she is And how she makes me feel like this I love how she's beautiful and smart with a heart so strong And how she lives every day like nothing could go wrong Still she hasn't got a clue Now school is at an end on the 11th at noon I wonder if she cares that I'm moving soon We're parting that day after schools many months I just wish I could have kissed her just once Now that I've said it with my poetic skill I don't think she knew, and now she never will

She Doesn't Know I love Her
Far too many tides have you held him, Calypso, now let him go: thus commands Athene daughter of Zeus, She who cannot stand his wails any more. The fleet-footed Hermes delivers the writ of the heavens. Does the wail of a mere mortal trouble the mighty Athene more than the heart of her kin?  Will you Hermes not accept a bribe and tell Her you never found me? That Calypso's home is too hard to find on sea? The will of Zeus cannot be altered, bow or the bolt will make you kneel. Twenty years has he suffered, let him go this prisoner of his deeds. Eternity   awaits you: while his soul, death. Let him not regret his life in afterlife. Thus did I leave on high-tide who steal to my own palace like a thief. Twenty years play in my mind, but the strongest still is Telemachus's smile. I leave her who cared so much to win my heart yet only the Zephyr - Brought me cheer, that carried the smell of home and Penelope fair. Here I leave the immortal who will die for me: for her who I know not if she loves me yet. Who Athene brings don't fail me in life, even if they falter.

Goodbye Calypso | Odysseus
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Infinity's Mirror by Nat Lipstadt Two mirrors, set in opposition observe created notional blending, a reflecting pool of bonding's of unglued, contrary compositions. Mirror to mirror, his imagery, fuses to Sylvia's images, hers, faintly recollected, now living face, face to face, with his past insurrections, alters his future visions. From cold water lake she's drawn, impaled by refracting regrets, retrieved, drawing her words upon him, an awakening slap to drink, beloved, tragic magic, infinitely captive. But this old man's tiddlywinks, land-locked words, blunted instruments, needy for release & salvation, are neither silvered or exacting, just stains on a dulled, tarnished brass spittoon, except for the brunt'd bunting of lines across his roughened terrain'd face, black and white, pen and ink etched illustration of howling agitation. His words worn down, hardened, red faced, purloined speckled pellets, damp to roll on down her rutted, almost ancient, tear streak paths, disbelieved superstitions, sacrificed for one of her living morsels of words. Man, here to her, pledges allegiance, audaciously defiling her poetic sanctity, a visage endless repeated, delivers her shiny poem-poised countenance, even though no forgiveness from time can a mirror afford for either, from her words, confession born, terrible truths beyond, beyond the finite. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mirror by Sylvia Plath I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions. What ever you see I swallow immediately Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike. I am not cruel, only truthful--- The eye of a little god, four-cornered. Most of the time I meditate on the opposite wall. It is pink, with speckles. I have looked at it so long I think it is a part of my heart. But it flickers. Faces and darkness separate us over and over. Now I am a lake. A woman bends over me, Searching my reaches for what she really is. Then she turns to those liars, the candles or the moon. I see her back, and reflect it faithfully. She rewards me with tears and an agitation of hands. I am important to her. She comes and goes. Each morning it is her face that replaces the darkness. In me she has drowned a young girl, and in me an old woman Rises toward her day after day, like a terrible fish.
Heartstone is a reflection in music on a ‘lost’ poem. The poem described in its two short verses a summer’s day, a landscape, a fossil found and placed in the palm of a child’s hand. The poem inspired a seven-movement work for wind, brass and percussion with solo piano. Here is its poetic programme note. Chert The piano draws an arc of rhythm rising then falling. Above two choirs of wind and brass exclaim, fanfare, mark out shorter, determined gestures of sound. The procession, almost a march, becomes a dance. Alone Two choirs of wind and brass become four couples whose music weaves from complexity a simplicity: Chromatic to Pentatonic twelve becoming five. Prase Four stopped horns, five extended tonalities. Together they wander a maze of Pentatonic paths; alone, and in pairs, as a quartet they discover within a measured harmonic rhythm. Tension: resolution . . . and surrounding their every move the piano insists an obligato, a continuum of phrases, absorbing into itself the warp and weft of horn tone. Sard Oscillating in perpetual motion the full ensemble occupies a frame of time and space. Flutes, reeds, double-reeds brass, piano, percussion mirror-fold on mirror-fold layer upon layer overlapping. Yarns of threaded sound. Tuff Without a break the mirrored oscillations patter pentatonics on tuned percussion of marimba and vibraphone whilst a batterie of drums lays down shards of beaten rhythm against this onward folding of tonality change. In the background a choir of winds flutes and single reeds waymark this recursive journey gathering together cadential moments and the necessary pause for breath. Marl Relentlessly, the motion is sustained, piano-driven, a syncopated continuo, rhythm-sectioned amidst layers of percussion. Adding edge, a choir of brass and double reeds amplify the piano’s jagged rhythms providing impetus for phrases to become longer and longer, ratching up the tension, ever-denying closure until the batterie delivers a conclusive flourish. Paramoudra Pulse-figures of winds. Motific cells of brass. Both negotiate a stream of fractal-shaped tonality expanding: contracting. A blossom of fanfares folding into pulsating layers of tuned percussion, flutes and reeds. A dance-like episode absorbs a chorale. Four horns in close harmony against the continuing dance. A duet of differences flows into a cascade of chords in closed and open forms. The piano supports brass-flourishing figures before a final stillness. Heartstone In gentle reflection the solitary piano – a figure in a landscape of collapsed harmonic forms - presents in slow procession the essence of previous music.
here at sunset we meet again
I have been renewal through the Living God. My life has changed for the better through Christ. He is my strength, my soul gets renewal through him. He is my provider, my best friend, and my King. When he draws me nearer, I am raise up by him. He protects us from harm, and delivers me through hardships. He walks me through the hardships then uses me to bring others out. He is the Light that I see at the very end of the tunnel.
And our brother, too, the metal shaman Reaches up, plucks knowledge from the stars We chant, guttural grunts, primal urges And fierce grinding teeth clenching and screeching The shaman dances and Reaches up, plucks knowledge from the stars And we SCREAM shrill Bare our necks and bring the knife across, **** A sacrifice to the metal beast The shaman stares straight up, Plucks knowledge from the stars And the blood leaves us Hair turns grey Daily exploits lost in deepening wrinkles The macabre ritual culminates... The Shaman, unappeased Laughs like Hyena, cackling REACHES UP AND PLUCKS KNOWLEDGE FROM THE STARS! The existential cacophony diminishes Din dimming Beast is empty Bits flow like blood Ones and zeros in a jumbled pool The shaman delivers The family sits around the glowing box A tribe in an ancient ritual Flip the switch, change the channel The children plucking out their eyes Little blind Oedipus Smashing faces through the tube To the life on the other side Celebrities, products, and reality shows Forget thought Present your mind To the beast A cinematic **** Send Damsels to appease the Minotaur Change the channel
Drip, drip. The lovely red. Drips from the veins. Inside of your head. Drip, drop, drip, drop. I think your dead. So much blood. The pretty red. Onto the concrete. Blood stains on the walls. Drip, drop, drip, drop. Heard in empty halls. The pleasant drip. As your heart stops. Like rose petals on snow. Such lovely red drops. Blood let's us live. Blood also can **** It delivers the poison. Brought in by the pill. Dripping, dripping. None left inside. Without anymore blood. Your carcass is dried.
