"barker" poems

The idiocy, Sheer insincerity Of political apologies. It WAS meant to offend. You chose the words carefully. A dog's-whistle in your mouthpiece. Your career is your priority. You are a glorified carnival barker, With a reputation as an intellect, But many do detect ******** in your overblown prose (except those who are equally verbose). Will your papa be disappointed If you are never to be anointed? Your education makes being PM a career choice, So power for it's own sake should really be a piece of cake. So how about it, Boris? Will we hear more Horace? How much do you want it? Enough to blow your own Trumpette?

He Wants To Be Prime Minister Because He Can
Sometimes, when you listen to their enounciation. You realize, just how beautiful they speak in their British accent. Every word expressively spoken. That you're mermorized by each vocal. Maggie Smith, the lady of class. Cary Grant, the man of taste. Oh, that British voice. That you might chose , if had you that choice. Or seek ways to adapt them to yours. Michael Redgrave/Michael Rennie/Vanessa Regraves All of them had that lovable voice. Then you notice the beautiful Julie Andrew. Words spoke so you see the greatness of the phase. Which we notice too in Richard Attenborough. Who reminds many of Richard Burton? Yes, the British accent. You just got to love it Similar to loving Honor Blackman when she speaks. A great difference from Jacqueline Bissett. Except written about them with great respect. Who can't admire the British Accent? Yes, there's the French. And I'm not kicking it. Then , there's Spanish. Which has more trying to learn it. But this is about the English and the various style of vocals. Colin Barker and Prince Williams the Royals speaks so wonderful. Just like, the man called Michael Caine. I just have to mention Deborah Kerr. That also goes for Joan Collin. It's something about their style of speaking. Maybe because you understand every spoken word. Which is level toward the great Timothy Dalton. And Samantha Eggar and **** Jagger. Plus, the late David Niven. And honorable mention to Julie Christie. Jane Asher, Hugh Grant and several more. Have you wishing to make their voices be yours. Yes, the British Accent just so lovable. And the greatest things about it. You don't have to be famous to be adored.

Misshapen I, assume this Harmful Trot Another Term to disappoint your Name This I Bow; Multiply my Penance lot Never again will I repeat this Shame For Honest Will, assist your Son's Best Worth Though I know spouting Flames is not the Way Purse this Regret; And shake the Stubborn Earth Then leave this Barker alone for him to stay Yet hopefully, in Prayer bid my Tears You may Consider my Innocent Plan To Heal, Flow and Live; Like your Boy's Best Years To prove Un-Condition by your demand. SONNET TRIBUTE SUNDRY - NINETY-TWO - TOM DALEY: M'AM DEBBIE DALEY - FORGIVENESS
There's soon to be a hangin' They've raised the gallows high The Barker Boys are getting their just deserves They'll soon be swinging side by side They're testing the trap doors as we speak A sound that always gives me the chills Them boys should of left well enough alone And let God do his own will You see they killed a man in Texas Over a cheatin' game of cards Caught those murderous thieves this side of Dallas Where it is they didn't get very far Didn't get very far in their run Sure enough didn't get far in this life The mean streak runs deep in their blackened hearts Straight to the Devils right side So here we are at the day of the hangin' It's quite a crowd that's gathered now The party atmosphere is contagious But ain't that what a hangin's all about They faced each other in death The same way they face each other in life With a twist of one rope to the left And a twist of one rope to the right

The Hangin' (Of The Barker Boys)
The curves on a brachiosaurus make Queen Latifah seem like a beach towel. The jaws on a tyrannosaurus rex make Jay Leno augment his chin. The spikes on a stegosaurus make Travis Barker shave his head. Latifah Leno Barker hunt for dino flesh like aboriginals chase mammoth with sticks stones and fire dances. Yeah, I'd pay to see that.

Rocko's Prehistoric Life
Jacques and Emile's veins pounded in their skulls as they scrambled down the ladder and through the labyrinth of sewers to rejoin their fellow assassins beneath the Parisian thoroughfares. They'd tracked the **** Captain's moves for past a week and knew precisely what he drank and where he ****** They were ready when he Stumbled down the brothel stairs. When Jacques stepped left for a clearer shot he found a bucket with his foot. The German wheeled and spotted them - raising his whistle to his mouth, but before he had a chance to blow, A silent report from Emile's rifle crashed into his trachea And he crumpled like a rag. Back in the tunnels Jacques bragged like a circus barker, "You should have seen the look on Gerry's face before we brought him down." Emile had seen his face alright, but thought only of the whistle that would have doomed them all. What do you when the world goes mad and **** tanks roll into the Champs Élysées? Who do you **** and why and how? Jacques was sound asleep and deaf to his comrades' whispers - pondering what to do and when. The decision came quickly and a different sort of mission was planned and Emile selected to execute it. What do you do when the world goes mad? August, 2013

Beneath Parisian Streets
Over the holidays, I was watching Lisa’s sister little Leeza, she’s 14. She has a rebellious fashion sense and a joyful innocence. She’s still fearless too, and on-God, I hope she never loses that. Too soon though—the disco’s coming to town—the world’s coming for her. It’s the same for all of us, I suppose, but in Lisa and my cases, covid shut it all down. It’s a rite of passage—the shoes, the bodycon dresses and the makeup. Those carry negative connotations, I get it, but there’s an excitement too, about finally getting to dress like an adult—a woman—in one of those bodycon, cut-out dresses. I know the pressures on women and their bodies, but at her age, it's not all stress, cattiness and comparisons—it’s just innocent teen fun. She and her posse can take hours just dressing and doing their make-up—together. It’s probably the best part of their night. Leeza’s dad (Michael) saw the little group of teens, all dolled-up and launched, like a SpaceX Starship. Pacing the living room, he quietly opined to Karen (her mom), “I don’t want her going out dressed like that.” Karen was right there with him to cool things down, “No, *** at her age, it’s about self-expression, learning and girl bonding—these connections are really important in the girl-world.” I’m not worried about Leeza’s physical safety. These girls are watched over and gently curated. Their every movement is orchestrated and security escorted—hell, Hamas couldn’t get to them—much less some gropey boy. There’s just this new awareness these days of how unhappy some people are—and a lot of them are teen girls. I wouldn’t want to see Leeza mired in the sad, brain-draining social media pressure and self-esteem traps. Teenhood is scary—I was feelin’ positively parental. Then I looked at Lisa, and I was reminded that they’ve done all this before, and she has a big-sister, role-model too. . . Songs for this: Good Time Girl (feat. An Ode to Nigel
# The carnival is loud. The voices rise in competition, each one pulling for the crowd’s attention, each one demanding to be seen, to be known, to be applauded. But none of it lasts. The bright lights will flicker, the tents will come down, the applause will fade. And the ones who built their names on the roar of the crowd will be left alone with their silence. You feel this, don’t you? The moment after the rush, when the thrill of being seen is not enough to keep you full. The moments between performances, when you are left with yourself. You have felt it. And because you have felt it, you cannot unfeel it. That is the nature of truth. It does not beg. It does not force. It simply remains, waiting for you to turn toward it. But not all will turn. Some will sell the last of themselves to the carnival, to the barker’s voice, to the fleeting thrill of attention. Some will press their hands over their ears until they no longer hear the call at all. Some will attempt to crucify what unsettles them, to keep the show running. And yet, truth stands. It does not chase. It does not barter. It does not make itself smaller to be more easily held. It remains, whether you turn today, or tomorrow, or never at all. For life does not demand. It does not entertain. It does not offer a show. It simply waits. *And in time, the waiting will be yours to bear* #

The Quiet Turning
I got a job at the Carnival, All the fun of the fair, With its Carousels and its Wishing Wells And The Ferris wheel up there, With a Gyro Tower and a Gravitron You could hear the squeals of glee, As they whirled about, and one fell out, Nothing to do with me! My only job was to strap them in And I went from ride to ride, They told me to familiarise Myself with every side, I loved the whirling Octopus And the Swinging Pirate Ship, But of them all, the Matterhorn Was the one I found most hip. I ended up on the Enterprise At the closing of the night, ‘Just two more rides,’ the man announced, ‘For a journey into fright!’ I strapped them into each Gondola As the twenty patrons paid, And heard their screams as they soared aloft, I could tell they were dismayed. The ride came down with a grinding halt And I went to let them out, But no-one sat in the Gondola’s Then I heard the Barker shout, ‘Last ride, last ride in the Enterprise,’ And the twenty folk got in, I said, ‘What happened to all the rest?’ But he cried, ‘Don’t fuss now, Tim.’ The Enterprise had begun to spin And carry them all aloft, Then disengaged from its base and floated Over a farmer’s croft, The sky was an inky black that night And dotted with glittering stars, And I swear today, I heard him say: ‘They’re heading on up to Mars!’ David Lewis Paget

The Carnival Enterprise
It’s not mystical, the winter solstice. Think of pink fish, red fish, the sun, a pond, Part water and part reflection, beneath Fresh ice, so slowly sinking, not frozen, just cold, About to touch bottom and death, their thoughts— Of carnival barker and circus clown And Superman all rolled up tight—about To be extinguished, with summer so far Away, you start to think it is death, not The kids not splashing in the shallows, and Not the less than dire necessity Sophisticated poetry, read so Professionally, so dainty and so Doily-like, that it seems like ashes scattered, Lost in some larger lake’s ichthyology— But still byzantine enough for fish to fathom, The depths their special province now that ice Has capped the pond and crested creation.

So frightful beautiful harridan your extended & startling tongue red rapturous rolling eyes dark, dark skin, sword, sickle & trident already stained, dripping ... & lapped by the dogs at your Divine feet. Around your neck glazed eyed silent, threaded, beaded blank faced, your victims skulls, surprised no doubt, at your swiftness, caught in mid-flight in activities bold & terrible. Lieutenant William Calley, Captain Ernest Medina, Lieutenant Frank Barker, So, so many from Charlie Company guilty on that fateful day in My Lai 4 South Vietnam March 16 1968.

The Skulls That Will Hang on Kali's Neck ...
Of all the things inside my head I wonder which I’d choose The shiny saucers on my wall With patterns on them all. Some painted by Susie Cooper With dainty flower heads And others Brambly Hedge With hedgehog tucked in bed. Then in blue and white china And Churchill on the back Picturesque moments of bridges Willow chintz and that. Finally the many flower fairies Their delicate floaty wings Sitting on a tree branch, Cicily Mary Barker Who loved all tiny things. Love Mary ***

Here’s to scrumptious nights. cats and boots and cats and boots We went clubbing last night, to recalibrate ourselves on the dance floor, where magic happens. cats and boots and cats and boots and cats and boots To focus on sensory experiences, the beat, and share in the fun and tangible sense of freedom. cats and boots and cats and boots Feel the wave, show your energy, be the wave cats and boots and cats and boots be disheveled, swing your hair like a weapon abandon, silly, self-protecting vanities cats and boots and cats and boots flashing lights on dancing figures make it all seem slo-mo and extreme. cats and boots and cats and boots It’s been too long since we’ve done it like this. Work-worn, I’d lost my lucidity and stumbled badly on a quiz. Lisa pushed my books onto the floor, declaring, “Get UP, we’re grabbing some bliss.” cats and boots and cats and boots and cats and boots and cats and boots failure has a reality, a gravity and pull all the more shocking in relief. I’d started out the evening gloomy and ashamed - a figure of regret - but I’m better now, buoyed and recharged and soon I’ll have a plan - hopefully. cats and boots and cats and boots and cats and boots and cats and boots There was a guy there, on the dance floor, who looked like a young Leonardo DiCaprio. We made eye contact, nodding and smiling at each other in motion. We gyrated, together, sort of, for a second, in our separate orbits - no conversation I just watched him for a moment or two, sexualizing him like eye candy. Just seeing him was sensual fun and I wondered what he smelled like. He had a gritty, sweaty, idealized beauty, like a dancing ‘David’ that no Michelangelo could ever capture in stiff granite sculpture. The music ended - momentarily - we knew it would start up again and we were there for it - til 1 or 2 am anyway - then it recranked. cats and boots and cats and boots and cats and boots and.. Lisa grabbed my hand, jerking me onto the dance floor almost before I could set down my drink. Eeek! “Slow Down!” I yelled, but my complaint was lost in the din and my involuntary laugh. cats and boots and cats and boots and cats and boots and.. . . Songs for this: Dance To This (feat. cats and boots
I will arise and forage not for eggs nor bread for a bowl of porridge that gets me out of bed. Smooth like silk with added milk not lumpy mind ‘tis good to find it thick and grey. No better way to start the day. If the spoon stands upright no need to get uptight it passed the test of thin or thick. Got the Tick. The Best. Top Recipe: Take Slade Prison Add Ronnie Barker & Richard Beckinsale Stir in Fulton Mackay Mr. Barrowclough to serve. TOBIAS

PORRIDGE ODE - sorry - OATS
Letters get jumbled and mumbled words spill forth a fifth of gin would help me begin to sort these thoughts into a sensible order but I can't afford a fifth and my sixth sense warns me that alcohol will destroy me so I set out blind unable to find the sentiments in sentences or paragraphs and, someone laughs out loud. Me, I'm not so proud now can't tell you whether or how I feel and though I want to be real with you deal with you on an equal basis my face is lost in the jumbles mouth that still mumbles stomach that rumbles as the the acid builds filled with some fear that if you try to come near I won't and don't know what to say or do and do you never stop and think how much easier it is to write out words of love in ink? I think a pen is a godsend to those who could not lend their mouths to their words and in words I can write, I can write us of night in the bed pen it in red pen it in blue that's what I'll do, Send to you my love, written in lines and written of times when the mighty pen holds all the aces even then my heart beats fast as I pace the floor real slow and the ink don't want to flow and I think there's something wrong with me calamity. I need some help to wander then I need some more, to pen the words to make you soar and will you marry me? oh the pen wants a wedding shedding its ink into what I only think but have never said penned in red. If I used a marker wore a parka had a part time job as a fairground barker would it be the same as any time I hear your name. I freeze and could you please unjumble me unmumble the words I cannot say and let me be a different pen and in the fountains where I spout let me shout out everywhere that you're my girl but when?

Roll up Roll up This will cure all your ills Throw away the crutches Dispose of your pills Keep away from the tent boy Keep back from the curtain This is just what you need To stop all the hurtin' Roll up Roll up Mind the glare of my teeth Avoid my forked tongue Hide from what's underneath This elixir's a wonder More a distraction I'd say Takes your mind from your troubles At least for the day Drink a little, drink a lot It doesn't matter much You will soon discover You can throw away your crutch This potion will cure cancer Grow new hair on your head Help the flowers in the garden Make you better off in bed Roll up, Roll up Buy a bottle maybe two It's magic like no other See what it can do The idea is now planted Is it fake or is it real? Will it deliver on it's promise? Is it really such a deal? Listen to the barker Listen to his spiel Sounds like a politician Now, how do you feel? Don't look behind the curtain You'll hate what you will find Roll up, roll up and see It may mess up your mind Take a drink and you'll get bigger Take a drink and you'll be small Take a drink, I'll raise your taxes To pay for my new mall Roll up  now to the counter Roll up here and see That things with this much promise Are never cheap and rarely free
