Tick tock
Preston Taylor Apr 2018
Throw up your marble
Your graven stone
Hammer that metal into its place
But wind will still return your statue into dust
Time will lose the memory of your grave
Metal will rot as all things do
Into the ash of a plant that will cease rotating
Around a star that will one day explode
But today is for the living
And until the sun no longer shines
I will make its light count for those
Who are alive

Flight
Preston Taylor Apr 2018
Behold the sleeping giant
Laid out before me like a feast
Watch the curtain pull back
Rays of dawn coursing forth
The vaulted sky streaked with the waking dreams
Cities made of mist
Countries populated by restless wonds
Through the restless eyes shifting beneath heavy lids
Painted with all the possibilities that life brings
Feel that burning skyline
Crack open the chambers of sleep
And release crackling thoughts into the air
To coalesce and crystallize with actions
Only to return to that unconscious life once more

Mourning Calm
Preston Taylor Mar 2018
Crack like a shot
Crystals fly into frozen air
Reflect low flung light of a near forgotten sun
Skin across coiled wires
Pumping with vital blood
Hot energy flowing like high voltage lines
Fleet across like an arrow
Swift and sure and deadly
Hot breath stains the air for a moment
Before winds cutting like a knife rips it away
Freedom of life comes at the price
Of unstaunched wounds
Of cries thrown into uncaring silence
Here there is only the moments
No future or past
Stretching out into the unending still of far horizons
Curvatures that can never be caught
Only glimpsed

Forget
Preston Taylor Mar 2018
Transparent as a glass vase
Gross lacking of substance
Clear at a glance
Murky liquid spills forth
Frothing in anger
Broken thoughts tumble about
Stirred by currents of regret
Left to long
Going to rot
Spiderwebbing cracks race across the face
Bland narcissism no longer enough
The vase shatters and is ground away into dust

N&V

N&V
Life as a null value
Purpose but no cause
The symmetry that is so apparent
Reflecting upon nothing
The sacred geometry
Moving planets, shaping stars
Crushing people beneath it irrefutable logic
Systems upon system
Interconnected by far flung spaces
Razor wires of chance and probability
Dance upon our actions
Telling a story no one wants to hear
Collected voices screaming at an empty sky

Dive Below
Preston Taylor Mar 2018
Listen to the sounds of life all around
The constant babbling of energies
Overlapping and layering
Ebbs and flows without end
The rushing sound of watering that has no beginning
Just one continuous flow to the horizon
Slip into the quiet of the stream
Let the noise of all that motion
Lap around your hips
Feel the tugging of the ever changing movement
Put your head back and hear the deafening silence
That point where hearing reaches such a cacaphony that nothing can be heard
And sink into the still waters at the centre of the river
Watch the refracting light spiral and sway
Feel the heavy sleep of ages loop around your eyelids
And let go

— The End —
