Oleander
Melanie S. Moorman, 2/3/15

Such beautiful pain
Such largeness and gain
Hardened by walls
Built up time & time again

White scented petals
Fill the air - so smooth
Fragrantly wafting -
Singing to the Moon

Lovelorn and tired
She's dressed but uninspired
Her mood changes
But her song is the same

Will you come out tonight?
He says with a longing
Will you put on that dress?
A place your body belongs in

She smiles seductively
He knows what that means
His desire shall be curbed
By a meandering dream

Playfully she calls
But he hears - not too well
Lost in his fears
Where his love for her dwells.

In lover's lusts we sit within
I with my ***** and you with your gin

We planned to sail around the world
You wanted a boy, I - a girl

Somewhere, somehow - we lost our way
Or perhaps, I was just scared of my feelings

For I had never met one who could
Make my heart beat so wildly

Or cause me to lose my words...
After all, I am a writer - no, poet
But a writer - yes

Words are my milieu but with you
With you - I lose my ability to express
What I feel and so I acquiesce

To something silly, ridiculous, really
Knowing all the while you were the Love of my Life.

I wanted you for my husband
I think you wanted me to be your wife.

Standing on the Precipice of Time....

Watching the birds fall from the sky...

Life is getting lifeless... listless, unruly

And who or what is killing the bees?

Flowers that have lost their fragrance...

Words that have double meanings -

Life is filled with uncertainty - surely.

I observe the mountains as they melt

Into the ****** sea

Fish are floating - not swimming

Animals disappearing while lifeless, lonely trees

Seem to glare at the sun

Begging for air - no oxygen to spare

What has happened to this paradise of ours?

Did we fall asleep and slumber too much

While wasting the hours?

Did we think it would last forever

While we tended it not...

Consuming, consuming - eating & drinking

Leaving it all in a pile to rot
I've just been writing and writing more - more or less as an exercise to practice writing everyday.  I am a writer and have been since I picked up my first crayon; only in those days it was just scribble-scratch on a piece of yellow construction paper.  Still, I knew my thoughts had meaning - I just did not have the ability to put it in an understandable format yet.

Woe unto you ole foolish man
You have stepped on my dignity
You've ruined my plans.

The sun comes out
And you walk about
But you never really go anywhere

I met you on that dating site
The one whose name is not quite right
You were lonely, in despair

I thought you might be interesting
Thought you might have a good story
How wrong I was, and now I'm sorry

Incontinuity - a specialty of yours
Is actually continuous and causes our wars
A truce!  You say, without reservation

I stare into space and sit with a blank face
Weary of this space and tired of this race
I resign to resign from this without hesitation

Woe unto you ole foolish man
You have stepped on my dignity
You've ruined my plans.
Just another angry chick poem written to dispel the anger & disappointment at self, really - for letting someone waste my time like that!

Follow me down to the water's edge
Sharpness and hardness softens there

For a heart that is hollow
Filled with a life full of sorrow

Needs to release its wanton despair.

Follow me down to the river's end
And trust no one on your way there

I'm looking to touch the sun
I'm searching for a little fun

Time to live life without a care.

Follow me over to the creek with rocks
Skip, hop, jump - wear your nicest frock

I promise I won't look - should you disrobe
'Cause I know truth bare naked, doesn't need clothes

Let us move on like the ticking of the clock

Hurry up and swim with me before the tide rolls in
Let us linger in the ocean and release what's never been

Having said all that our hearts wish to bear
As we lie beneath a moonlit sky, trembling, scared

Let us remember these moments and the love within.
Sometimes I'm proliferate in writing and sometimes I just draw a blank.  One thing I'm sure of in writing, though, is this:  Just write - don't worry if it's "right" - see it as a comet ride and just enjoy the flight!

So, therefore, some of this writing is just a writing exercise and not really meant for public scrutiny.... if perchance you enjoy a line - I thank you for encouraging me!

Coco is sitting on my lap as she adamant about that
When she is sweet, she is saccharin
With black, velvet fur over her perfectly shaped head
The one with the bat-shaped ears -
She even looks like Batman from behind

Armani, he doesn't like his name very much
For if he did, he'd come more when he is called.
I'm not sure I really like it for him either.
He is truly a pygmy lion and his demeanor is his roar
He let me hold him earlier - but jealous Coco had to interfere

They are both beautiful - in the stereotypical cat way
Individual in their personalities though
Unique in their expressions of themselves as frisky felines
They demand attention  -
especially when they have something "important" to say

They will tear up the apartment in one fell swoop
And I refer to their claws as weapons of mass destruction
Seems their claws provide them a means of revenge
A means of recreation as well as means of diffusing stress
Cats stress?  Oh, my but yes!

Don't be tardy with the food and certainly,
Don't be ***** when they've pood
If so, you will know their wrath as described above
Cleaning up another mess can cause YOU some great distress
Which will all melt away as they purr at your caress

I don't think that I've found a more rewarding position
Than caring for a cat, despite their disposition
Of Mice and Men, though a great, great tale
Has nothing on Coco and Armani or their magnificent tails
I acquiesce that I am their guest and so, will behave in part

To give love and affection, some discipline or direction
To know just how I will behave
This is "how you train your human"
The way of the master, the feline brigade!
I know this needs work and well, since adopting these 2 kittens, brother and sister, aka "The Dynamic Duo" - I just had to write something to express my awe and distress.

Can anybody tell me what is Right with this world?
Even those in church refuse to budge or curse
The evil that is inside - man, woman, boy, girl

I for one, attest
That sin is at my breast
As I abandon my shame to a wicked, nasty tongue

Still I would never judge
Should plagues beckon at my door
While windows open - close no more

I've never gossipped in such a way
That threatens to destroy all a person's trust
Seemingly in righteousness, your barb has now been ******

Onto the canvas that was my soul
Now shattered, as if it never mattered
In twisted torment, in the name of your holy robe.

Don't let them sway you - you must stay true
Don't let them consume you - you must not be confused
Don't let them make a case for something you know is not real
Don't let them come between us or our fates you will seal
We are but stars in a dark, blue night
Our brightness blinds the wicked one's sight
We have love between us - as it's been through the years
We have warmth and sunshine to calm all our fears
Envious people regret nothing they do
They squish and they squall about others' as they muse
Grievous people stirring up angry words
They twist and they howl, scaring even the birds
No one can alter our fates as they do
But we can eclipse them - yes, me and you!
I wrote this to assuage my pain about my oldest daughter coming between me and my youngest and those she caused to do the same.  My youngest daughter and I were basically inseparable until about 3 years ago.  I still have hope that we might be close again.
