Bluebird
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say, stay in there, I'm not going
to let anybody see
you.
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I pour whiskey on him and inhale
cigarette smoke
and the **s and the bartenders
and the grocery clerks
never know that
he's
in there.

there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say,
stay down, do you want to mess
me up?
you want to ***** up the
works?
you want to blow my book sales in
Europe?
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too clever, I only let him out
at night sometimes
when everybody's asleep.
I say, I know that you're there,
so don't be
sad.
then I put him back,
but he's singing a little
in there, I haven't quite let him
die
and we sleep together like
that
with our
secret pact
and it's nice enough to
make a man
weep, but I don't
weep, do
you?

-Charles Bukowski
My favorite poem from the Master.

She was the purest kinda drug.
The cleanest kinda high.
And the worst kinda side effects.

A beautiful woman
is the most difficult
equation you will
never solve

You once said you love me.
But I knew that wasn't true.
You had your eyes on the castle.
And I just wouldn't do.
Fill in the blank lover
Is all I was to you.

my hate is not a match
burning out in a flash
my hate is not random
nor unfocused and undisciplined

my hate is glacial
cold and pure
it's patient
it cuts
jagged
waiting
silent friction
scraping
inch
by
inch
the pieces fall around us

It shapes who I am.

It's raining.
And here I am
in the dark.
And all I have
are my regrets.

Alone on an island
Lost in deep space
Your ship on the horizon
A faint glimmer of
your distant star

Felis catus is your taxonomic nomenclature,
An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature;
Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses
Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion,
It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display
Connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.
