reality comes
and kisses me
right between my eyes
as your wisdom whispers
it's poison truth
the idol slowly dies
Virginia H Jun 2016
innocently,
she stumbles into the unknown
confused-
she becomes undone
trying hard not to cry
hoping to just get by
one more day-
just- one more day

their words-
they tell her to run
she learns-
to make herself numb
without a drink
with just one blink
she can turn it off-
she's no longer soft

over time-
she digs a hiding place
her own secret space
to bury the sorrows
she forgot
but the sad sorrows
begin to rot
and slowly decay-
but never
really go away

then up
from the sadness
a tree begins to grow
that will slowly produce
the bitter fruit
of self abuse
each bite helps her to live a lie-
without it
she would surely die

sometimes- she climbs her tree
to get away
but it whispers-
of painful yesterdays
and twists the memories
to feel like injuries
will the aching go away?
maybe some day...

in her dreams-
a dancer
takes her by the hand
singing- "Precious one,
you are not ******-
to a life of misery
we will uproot
the sorrow tree
and you will be free,
completely free!"

Where are the words
To help her express
Confusion...regret
Acute emptiness
Silently she inhales
Confession falls from her hand
Unable to repent
What she can't understand
Holding her breath
In silence she waits
Nonsense surreal
She cannot translate
Tears from her heart
Inks a tattoo on her face
And the fallen mirror
Still remembers her disgrace
Shame - sorrow - anxiety
Cuts at her feet as she turns
Surrender - forgiveness
Her soul's silent yearn
A cleansing exhale
With relief on her breath
She tiptoes towards joy
Inner peace - happiness
The Dancer will teach her
The steps that are key
For leaping to freedom
With eyes that can see
