I have become my demon
There is no escaping
It followed me on Earth
And now it has found me in the clouds
All of the places I love
And people I love
And things I love
No longer swell
But rather struggle to raise their chests
Beneath the weight of the demon
The lust for perfection has overthrown
The Spirit who'd lured me to patience
The pain of lust is an addiction
The burn and tremble
And yearns for attention
Satisfy the demon
Who feeds from what I starve
The clouds would passively serve protection
But the demon hunts
And chains my wrists
Behind the back hunched in weariness
It brings me to its lair
And wrings me of the act of disobedience
Until I have nothing left to confess
I carry the cloak of my master as I return to Earth
But not a day passes I don't wonder
What life is like on Mars
