Intimacy, trust, and security,
Were the pillars of a bond, once clear to me.
But in the silence after it all fell apart,
I found the echo of a truth in my heart.

I was afraid to be alone, to fade,
Made her the essence of who I was, afraid.
I valued the comfort of another near,
More than the stillness of my own fear.

Yet in the break, a light cracked through,
An awakening to a version of me, true.
No longer dulled by a numbing ease,
I found strength in the colors, in the breeze.

I learned to be me, not just exist,
Companionship balanced, no longer dismissed.
Security gave warmth, but rigidity froze,
Empathy lacked, and that pain I know.

Now, I stand with colors bold and bright,
Not bound by shadows, but in my own light.
Companionship valued, but not at cost,
For in myself, I found what was lost.
My hope for things to come
