There once lived a snail
Who hurried, to no avail
Slugs close on his tail.
I'd love to receive.
A nice letter addressed to me.
To savor a while.
Lynn Stillman Jun 25
Take me to "somewhere".
Heard it's the in place to be.
I've seen the billboards.
Lynn Stillman Jun 26
Let them sing their songs ,
about how great life can be
I can only sigh.
Saying you're sorry,
would light up a part of me.
My arms wide open.
Saying you're sorry,
should not be like pulling teeth.
Painful as can be.
I'd give anything.
to once again hold your hand.
Feel your soul In mine.
I need approval.
Since I was young with pigtails,
I've needed that stamp.
I wished on a star.
It politely twinkled back,
nudged it's closest friend.
On a global scale,
people are starving to death ,
for some compassion.
Wish I knew some way
To get you to hear what I say
Then maybe I'd stay
You are gone for days.
You turn the tables on me,
when I ask you why.
You say I'm the one to blame.
For just needing you to stay.
As the years go by
I will love your precious heart
Just like from the start.
Tears redden my eyes.
My face is a storybook.
Narrated by grief.

You've become distant
A stranger I barely know
I'll still be around
Lynn Stillman Jun 24
Closing time tonight
The barkeep pours out a heart,
filled up by strangers.
Didn't realize
When you said you'd love to help,
there'd be strings attached.
On the river Styx
Satan skis, towed by a boat
****** at the wheel
Lynn Stillman Jun 25
The edge calls to me
No apologies from life
It is merciless.
Loaded mini vans.
Summer sun heats up the beach
Bare feet running fast.
Lynn Stillman Jun 20
Fear not little one
Everything in the darkness
Is found in the light
Dreams can comfort you
One minute alone and scared
Next, in someone's arms.
Lynn Stillman Jun 24
I talk to myself
Not a bad thing so I've heard
Sometimes too bubbly.
I can't tell you why
I just don't feel like talking
Just be here for me.
Lynn Stillman Jun 29
I have many scars
But they all tell a story
They are my tattoos.
Laughter at your pain.
Deep inside you feel the rain.
Your tears fall in vain.
Lynn Stillman Jun 21
You don't see my tears
Too wrapped up in your anger
To see that their for you.
The rain masks your tears
They form deep lines on your face
Your face like a map.

Eighth grade , yearbooks signed
Drivers license , first paycheck
Then prom king and queen
Fell off the wagon
Extra piece of chocolate,
quickly turned to three.
I was in a state
When you first met me
Too wrapped up in my cocoon
Then you made me see
That I had a purpose
My life It was worth while
Helped me lose bad memories
I had put on file
More than just a gesture
For me it was life changing
Showed me that my thoughts
Just needed rearranging
So thank you my dear
For all your kindnesses and love
You showed me that I have the strength
To conquer and rise above.
You have a place in my heart
It's reserved just for you
You are my soul mate
I believe that is true
You brought me out,
of a place deep within
Accepted me for who I am
I won't go back again
You showed me compassion
Just how much you cared
I then opened up
My world to be shared
So thank you my friend
I now sing along with you
You are a godsend
My nightmares are through.
Lynn Stillman Jun 21
Driving in the car today
Dog on the sidewalk
Trots to the beat of the song
On my radio.
The clock is upset
Hands wringing, face distraught
Second hand feelings.
As the laughter fades.
Tears fall into the abyss.
Clown shuffles away.
Lynn Stillman Jun 28
I've found the entrance
Secret and out of the way
Dreams live there they say.
Lynn Stillman Jun 22
The door to my heart
Left ajar for trust in you,
and all its lessons.
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
I just wonder why
Future was so less scary,
in the days gone by
Lynn Stillman Jun 20
Lonely days and nights
Lead to barren months and years
To a future, bleak
I hope you can find
All life has to offer you
Each rock turned over.
Lynn Stillman Jun 27
Several years ago
Maybe twenty I don't know
Future was ******* in a bow.
But those plans fell through
The way they sometimes do
My path was overgrown with weeds
Couldn't follow all my leads
But that was then , this is now
I think I've found out how,
to get through another day
even when clouds get in the way.
It is friends that cleat my path
It's the truth I've done the math
Their kindness is all I need
To thrive with a newly planted seed.
The path up ahead
We see in different ways
I see weeds and brush.
Lynn Stillman Jun 19
What the future brings
Predictions are made in vain
Time holds fast the clues.
Lynn Stillman Jun 29
A place in my heart
Open to the human touch
It's the food of life.
Lynn Stillman Jun 26
Dissecting one's mind
So frightened by what you find
Thoughts of you in kind.
Lynn Stillman Jun 18
I know just who you are
You hate and belittle me
My mirror image.
Lynn Stillman Jun 18
Before my coffee
Poured juice on my cereal
Newspaper blurry.
Lynn Stillman Jun 20
With my headphones on
The rock and roll a kingdom,
of which I am queen
Lynn Stillman Jun 18
I am mystified
Dreams come in bits and pieces
The night but a blur.
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
On the other side
A door waits to be opened
All questions answered.
