Lynn Stillman Jun 23
Homeless veteran on the street
Trying to make ends meet
A struggle every day
For little or no pay
The VA feels like a sham
Why don't we give a ****
He tries to take things in stride
Losing hope, dignity and pride
One of the richest countries in the world
Who pledge allegiance to a flag unfurled
Can't lend a helping hand
To those who fought in a foreign land.
Don't misunderstand
We'll agree to disagree
Viewpoints right or wrong
Things may seem unfair.
But that helps in our growing,
way we view the world.
Lynn Stillman Jun 29
Foot in mouth virus
It's caught by saying dumb things
It's drug resistant.
Those that have seen us
And the distance between us
Wedding vows they heard
Say we were always on course
For the breakup that occured.
Lynn Stillman Jul 13
Vulnerable like,
your skin before a sunburn.
You might just get burned
You're afraid to show,
your deepest condolences.
Your soft underside
Questions fill my mind
Where did we go wrong
We had plans for the future
We had our own song
Days are long and empty
Nights thinking just of you
I won't run away and hide
But just what can I do?
You promised me forever
Into the sunset we would walk
Now I fear it was all a game
All a bunch of talk
Yet I still yearn for you
And the good times that we had
When I think back in time,
things were not that bad
So I'll wait by the window
For any trace of you
And for you to dry my tears
Say our love is true.
In my shoes you've walked
What you want me to believe
Your soles barely scuffed.
Lynn Stillman Jun 21
Need to free myself
To break through these walls I've built
Time has thickened them.
Lynn Stillman Jun 23
Does anyone else
Build walls to keep the world out
Or is it just me
War
Lynn Stillman Jun 25
War
My thoughts have waged war
and they take no prisoners.
Will be no detente.
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
I'd bet anything
If our leaders had to fight
Wars would not exist.
The haunting sound
The distant song of the whale
They're beseeching us
You're not on my mind
You're a faded memory ,
of what was to be.
Why
Lynn Stillman Jun 22
Why
Why are you not here
To turn on Moon and starlight,
the nightingales song
Lynn Stillman Jul 12
I am exhausted
From the arguing with you
Chicken crossed the road
We are arguing minutia
While the mushroom clouds outside.
Lynn Stillman Jun 28
Wisdom comes in blurbs
One minute I'm spitting facts
The next I'm dry mouthed.
May your dreams come true
and bring great prosperity
And not love in vain
May love be your charity.
I would buy a star.
Then I'd name it after you.
May my wish come true.
Lynn Stillman Jun 21
I have three wishes
Wish I had an extra one
I'd give it to you
Well now I only have two
Might as well give one to you!
A glance in the sky
The stars mockingly twinkle,
as I make a wish.
Lynn Stillman Jun 29
Your name is familiar
It's on the tip of my tongue
Sorry, swallowed it
When I am with you,
the words just don't come out right.
Like my tongues not mine.
Lynn Stillman Jun 26
I was gonna write,
all about my speechlessness
Couldn't find the words.
Lynn Stillman Jun 21
Can't let my guard down
Barbed words find their way to me
They aim for my heart.
Lynn Stillman Jul 12
The words they are few
You're barely speaking my name
But then when you do,
it's to belittle and shame
Now everything is fair game.
I can't write today
Many things come into play
Just nothing to say

When tomorrow's here
With gods hand to guide and steer
Pen in hand, thoughts clear.
Lynn Stillman Jul 10
We stand face to face.
In different time and place.
The years down we chase.
Where did the time go
Yesterday I was a child
Running free and wild
Then I only knew a life
Neatly ******* in a bow.
You
You
I thought you should know
You're every feeling I show
Why the stars they glow
You
Lynn Stillman Jun 24
You
Different story
When you're the **** of a joke,
when you're made fun of
You do not love me
You just love the idea,
of being in love.
Lynn Stillman Jun 24
I was there for you
Then when your problems left you,
you left me behind.
Dreams are within reach
You just need to be willing,
to stretch a little
You may think I'm fooled.
You are kidding but there's truth,
camouflaged in jest.
Refreshing and cool.
That's how I'd describe your love.
A glass of sweet tea.
Friends may come and go
You may think you've lost your way
But you've found yourself.
You feel things deeply
So gently, I'll stroke your soul,
caress your heart.
It's your time to shine.
Your footing is sure and true.
Now chase down that dream.
My feet never touch,
the solidness of the ground,
when you take my hand.
The sound of your voice,
Is all the music I need.
Number one top song.
Lynn Stillman Jun 30
The youth of today
Will do well and be okay
Stay above the fray.
Lynn Stillman Jun 27
My heart's door unlocked
You kicked it in anyway
You had the key.
Zoo
Zoo
A day at the zoo.
Monkeys are staring at me.
Whose observing who?
