When love turned spiteful
When questions had no answers
and we fell to earth.

People amaze me
Too many loaded questions
Pointed at my head

No sleep comes tonight
My mind toils till mornings light
Without my consent

Poetry is moods
A sampling of everything
Tasting of good foods

Lion says to elk,
"You've lived through another day".
Elk says to lion ,
"You're not who you used to be,
cuz your pride gets in the way".

Sweeping hands of time
Slowly they would stroke my face
Now they're quick to harm.

Used to go to church
Money's voice spoke over God's
People bought and sold.

Closing time tonight
The barkeep pours out a heart,
filled up by strangers.

I woke up today
Feeling very positive
Don't think I'm okay.

Went for a fast food meal.
Told the kid behind the counter
I'd like the chicken and a large
green beans . He said the green beans
only come in small and medium.
I said okay I'd like the medium
He said we're out of green beans.

No true connection
That is what I have with you
Thinking the phones dead.

If the birds could speak
They'd talk about life and times
How they're free to be

I talk to myself
Not a bad thing so I've heard
Sometimes too bubbly.

Thought I'd slam the door
So you'd stop ignoring me,
You didn't notice.

To not feel useful
It's a fact of life for some.
Old and in the way.
Life and laughter for the young.
Singing the songs left unsung.

I was there for you
Then when your problems left you,
you left me behind.

Nearly drowning once
I'll never forget that day
Feeling so alone.

When I was nine years old,
and if the truth be told
My best friend was a German Shepherd
with a heart of gold.
We spent our days together
in any kind of weather
Around his neck a bandana
his collar made of leather .
Possum was his name
And we played every game
From fetch the ball to tug of war
Days were never the same.

Different story
When you're the **** of a joke,
when you're made fun of

I'm not depressed
I'm challenged by happiness
Can't feel my happy.

Jesus came to earth
Got a complete makeover
For his Facebook page

There once lived a snail
Who hurried, to no avail
Slugs close on his tail.

Your names in the clouds
Written there by an angel
Hoped she'd get her wings.

There's nowhere to hide
When dark clouds are threatening
Can't rain proof your heart.

Better days ahead
Troubles a second language
I'm not fluent in.

What would happen if
Our eternal flame went out
Would you know me then?

Too many hours spent
Fretting over seasons past
Change, the offender

I know the feeling
of being left out in life.
Stinging sensation

I believe In love
and in a higher power
Don't believe in me.

It's become quite clear,
that loves a gift rescinded
when doubts are a given

"Uh oh" all you said
when my life became a mess.
"Walk it off" you say

Beauty walks away
It really enjoyed its stay
Face now a new day.

Searching for pieces,
of a mind shattered by loss
The puzzle so real

Incoming tears fall
A barrage of past failures
Dropped by hate of self

Can find no reason
To leave the comfort of home
When pain is right here.

Does anyone else
Build walls to keep the world out
Or is it just me

Homeless veteran on the street
Trying to make ends meet
A struggle every day
For little or no pay
The VA feels like a sham
Why don't we give a ****
He tries to take things in stride
Losing hope, dignity and pride
One of the richest countries in the world
Who pledge allegiance to a flag unfurled
Can't lend a helping hand
To those who fought in a foreign land.

Whether I'm living this life,
or just existing.

Or merely exist

Money's like making bread
You're either rolling in it
Or you really knead it.

No relief today
Sun feels Inches away
Pavements heat rises

Love was nearing the rocks
It had set sail years ago
Map old and yellowed
Devotion waited ashore
As storms of distrust moved in.

Unrequited love
It laughs and spits in your face
Takes without giving

A 911 call
Victim is so blue
Bleeding from the heart
Died while enroute to reconciliation
Buried in a deep and painful longing

"You don't ever talk"
"I've heard enough out of you"
"Why can't you listen"?

Daylight never waits
Why am I cooped up inside?
Phones ringtone on mute.

I often wonder,
what they'll put on your tombstone.
"Here He Lied".

I'd like to know
what you put into this love.
I always crave the taste.

Dreams unrealized
The years rudely brushed past me
I'm empty of hope

This sadness I feel
Is here and it's real
They say it's a phase,
but it's been days and days
No answers to my questions
just hollow suggestions.
