And warms the winter glow
Putting out a candle stick
The way you hold a pencil
Writing down imaginings
About how you see the world
Thoughts love interrupting
Speaking over yourself
How the cards were dealt
Wish I could find an excuse better
Than being an introvert
Blurred lines drawn in the mud
Turned into fleeting words
Swept up by footsteps

Helping myself to seconds
Was so windy walking home
You were by my side
So everything else went out the window

Now I’m looking for the words
What I told you I would do
But now I’m alone again
Seems to sweep over me like a broom

Making a pile of dirt
Destroyer for some hope
Liar and then you repeat
Dying for some trust

Making all these mistakes
Nowadays dawn feels less fresh
Like the dream left off where I wanted out
Which begs the question
Although save that for another day

Resting on a coral beach
Cutting my feet on yellow teeth
As the sun sets
We dance to that mystery stuff
Despite the current
For the river and the sea
Like a dark cloud above
Following you like a hot shower
How could I forget
Already said that to you
