just like the squirrels

simple pleasures
kids play with their new puppy
the neighbors cookout.

The wind
brings trees to life
an unseen partner
in the dance.

infatuation

politeness faded
"I'm sorrys", a thing of the past
silence between us

love leaves me battered
black and blue from neglect
ego beaten by shame
