TO DARKNESS
RUPAM MITRA Nov 2021
O Darkness! You are the image of gloomy silence. Never lovable -
Though much admirable for your fearful presence. You wrap yourself in the smoke of black despair to hide the day's wounds.
An owl screams for some unknown reason. And you are crying quietly,
I suppose-
simply not because you are dark,
but for a lover
who is in love with your black heart.

The Shadow
RUPAM MITRA Sep 2021
I can remember the day
When I saw my own shadow
And I was shocked.
How dark it was!
Did it resemble the darkest past
of our primitive society?
Or was it the materialistic shadow
of future mechanisms?
I was scared,
I abandoned myself
to utter darkness,
And the shadow soon disappeared.

The Rebel
RUPAM MITRA Nov 2020
Who is the man
bleeding profusely?
The Rebel!
His miserable appearance
reports so. He rebels
not for power,
but for bread.
Patriotism?
A cruel joke!
An empty stomach
hardly digests
the juicy fruits of Democracy.
And Nationalism?
An idea based on fallacy!
All that is fair
is foul for him,
And all that is foul
is fair for him.

To The Civilization
RUPAM MITRA Nov 2020
I'm tired of your civilized rudeness! Every chamber of my heart is engulfed in smoke.
And poetry? She is plagued by the complexities of Metaphysics.
The rhythm is lost.
A feeling of death is everywhere in the midst of life.
O Civilization! Why should your kids play the Roman fools, and die on their own sword?

DON'T BLAME HER
RUPAM MITRA Oct 2020
Don't blame her for being merciless.
She is your mother!
She provides you with comfort and makes your life easier.
It's you who stab her heart;
She weeps and asks you not to **** her kids. But you fight wars and make her wretched.
Now she proceeds to her own satisfaction.
Don't blame the angry mother!
