Earthquake hits from out of the blue
Sending tsunamis of emotion
Washing unobstructed
Over an unsuspecting world

The cleanup will be massive
Widespread and intense
The mayhem brings obvious truth
I should have kept my mouth shut
I've lived this a few times...

Now and then
I feel the scales of justice tilt my way
It’s an uncommon feeling
A subtle breeze sifting its way cautiously through the trees
All at once I feel it’s might
Fairness brings a power not often experienced nor appreciated

In this sometimes-squalid world of ours
Truth and justice seldom arrive on a white stallion
More often they’re stolen by self-righteous greed
Gale force winds of injustice
Contributing to enormous storms of pain
Bringing heartache to many unfortunates

The blindfolded lady
Too soon gone, but not forgotten
That takes time
For her leaving is a bitter pill
That glorious feeling of righteousness and truth
Must be ripped away, it’s not freely given up

Sometimes I feel naked
Down to truth and bone
Life is often unfair
And though we must fight for what’s right
We can’t let what’s wrong
Consume us

Treadmill of life
I want to get off
Not forever
Just long enough to smell the roses
Maybe longer

After a time
Aspirations of youth
Mostly fade
Replaced by the
Reality of our existence

With hope and destiny
Flashes of insight
In a moment
Provide light to a darkened world
And feed a yearning hunger

Life
In all its wonder
Is meant to be experienced…
In freeing our hearts
Our souls must follow

I could be an angry storm
Or perhaps a playful breeze
I could take you up up up
Or drive you to your knees

I’m a high-pressure system
Keeping the rain away
For today I’m very sure
I need some sun today

The weather has been ugly
Rain and rain for days
I stare up at the awful sky
Hoping pitifully for sun’s rays

There’s a pounding in my heart
Like a thunder lightning storm
I can’t believe what I’m seeing
A vision, not the norm

Candy canes and lollipops
Dissipate the gloom
Fantasy fulfilled
As she walks into the room

Something I always wanted
A girl beyond compare
Sometimes near, sometimes far
But never ever there

Not here this time either
As she disappears in the mist
Not a smile returned my way
Not yet a single kiss

The low-pressure system arrives
As the rain begins again
I’d like to go outside, but
My plan is to stay in

Can’t the weather bring the girl
Some wisdom on the run
Some clarity and composure
Bright sunshine and some fun

The weather outside is raging
As I’m fretting staying in
Like a happy ending for me
Would that be such a sin?

Tomorrow is another day
Forecast is for rain
Staying in and sleeping
Sounds like just a pain

Waiting out the weather girl
Or whatever she might be
Hope the weather clears enough
For me to finally see

What she is and who she is
Would that be so lame?
So frustrated at this point
I’d settle for a name…

Tis Halloween Eve
Not a night to be out
You’re lucky to be here
Of that there’s no doubt

But don’t be too sure
As you’re making this scene
That by entering this mansion
You’ve broke away clean

For the walls they have ears
And the pictures have eyes
And the good hosts will give you
A ghoulish surprise

So have a good time my friend
In fact, have a ball
You’ll be leaving tonight
Or never at all…
