His island
Susie Sep 24
He's wasting away, his skin clings to his bones
He no longer talks doesn't answer his phone
His eyes are lifeless, there is no soul
His mouth is a shrivelled, sunken hole
His body is unwashed, his hair is matted
He's finally given in to this never ending battle
Helpers come to visit but he's lost to the poison
He doesn't want to go on, he can't see a reason
The pills form a pile at his front door
There's faeces and ***** soaked into the floor
His chair is an island, the ******* the sea
The ***** is his medicine, the cigarettes his relief
He sits in his pants, he has no dignity left
He feels so utterly useless, completely  bereft
His children just use him, abuse him for money
He just wants them to love him unconditionally

The Cliff
Susie Sep 24
His nerves are tangled and he's wading through treacle
His thoughts are mangled, his brain matter is faecal
His limbs are made of lead, his digits are stiff
He wiggles his toes and gazes over the cliff
The waves crash below and a seagull squawks
He contemplates the drop and the fall on the rocks
He feels the sun on his face, the wind touches his cheek
It feels so comforting, when everything's so bleak
He takes a step forward and feels himself fall
He feels brave and free, a master of it all

The Bridge
Susie Sep 24
Her nerves are tangled and she's wading through treacle
Her thoughts are mangled, her brain matter is faecal
Her limbs are made of lead and her digits are rigid
She's sick to her stomach and her skin is frigid
She contemplates the drop and the fall into water
Soon there'll be an end to this endless torture
But then she feels a hand touching her shoulder
It's Jon Bon Jovi but he looks so much older
She steps back from the ledge and towards Jon's embrace
Her body softens, a smile forms on her face
This moment is too surreal for her to ignore, seconds before she stood at death's door
She's says thank you to Jon for crossing her path
This bizarre encounter has made her laugh
The fall to the water is no longer in sight
She looks to the future and it feels strangely bright

Home
Susie Sep 24
You are now part of this land
A land forever in your heart, wherever you roamed
The trees and the mountains embrace you
Rest peacefully under the stars

The Frenemy
Susie Sep 23
She never forgets your birthday, always buys you a thoughtful present
She's the hostess with the mostess
every time you go to visit
She's reeling you in, mascarading as a friend
She's gathering ammunition, it's a means to an end
Her venomous remarks seep like poison through your veins
When her words cut you deep, she's tallying up her gains
But your soul feels unsettled, your gut instinct never lies
For this person that you trusted, is a foe in disguise
