She went to school with braids in her hair
Her mother knew not of her despair
Braces covered her teeth
Teen life was never fair
Her name was Adare
To the boys, she did scare
They pushed her down in the snow
Her face came up with a rosy glow
Her skin was so fair I thought it would tear
When she walked the halls
You could feel sadness in the air
Bullied every day, she had to beware
The years had slowly passed
Socially she always came in last
In college, she did blossom
Now a star of stage and screen
Such beauty few have ever seen
She hasn't forgotten her past
For she knows beauty will never last
I shared her ups and downs
So she still keeps me around
Now you know where I can be found
I promised to protect you from the ghosts and ghouls
The faint of heart
The lonely fools
Even older men who drool
When it came to beauty, only you ruled
I was to protect you from a lonely heart
From those soon to depart
Make you aware of those that didn't care
Protect you from a life that isn't  always fair
Pain without gain and the criminally insane
Fame without acclaim
But it wasn't my aim
To protect you from thee
That I hope you see
Cause you belong to me
Skin and bones skin and bones
No one to help me
Cause I am grown
My mind distorted, overthrown
No one to help me, all alone
My field of dreams now overgrown
Skin and bones skin and bones
You've got me turning to stone
No love, no kindness to be shown
Lost in a world all alone
Thoughts of you still remain in the creases.
They, too, tear me to pieces
Those that came before me ignore me
In my defeat, I shall retreat
Skin and bones skin and bones
In my mind, no ones home
Close my eyes when I die
Only then will I have arrived
Dear Lord, welcome me home
Skin and bones skin and bones
I stand alone
Future unknown
Without substrate
Words of wisdom won't penetrate
Where five used to roam
I stand alone
Now a dethroned king
Even the songbirds no longer sing
Only old memories stored in my head
Can bring back the dead
Once a promising life
Now filled with nothing but dread
Stormy seas
Our only reason to be
The ebb and flow
Of the tide
Mimic the world of you and I
Our worlds always seem to collide
Only with the calming of the sea
Can we ever commence to be
The ghost of me
So plain to see
No future to be
Yesterday was my past
As you now see
Never made to last
What we had was a blast
Written about and stored away
Never again to see the light of day
I came and went
Back to the Lord
I shall be sent
She is a lady of the sea
Preoccupied with everything but thee
Orphaned by the sea
Nowhere else to be
Weathered by storms
Stoic be her norm
A lady of the sea
She shall forever be
A lady for all seasons
But mine she'll never be
