Wasn't it sad to see the face
Of the child looking out the window
As  the rain fell down and the car drove away
But he is seeing brightness in the distance
Not sure if it's car lights
Or the dawning of a new day

Is there sunshine through the rain?
Either way it's the motion that's important
And the progress-- the moving traffic
The rising sun, sparking a minute fire of hope
Lying somewhere in the cluttered heart
         So many things to feel

But the glimmer is something like a warmth
And lends itself to some degree of courage
And the sweet desire to thrive
But he fears that tomorrow will be more of the same
Oh, you rascal time! Precise and always moving forward
         Never missing a beat

But I often miss your passing
What could have been, if I had given it my attention?
As I ponder this, I once again miss time's passing
         And what could have been
At any given point  of awareness
We are always introduced in the same manner

It's you again, looking so familiar
         Shall we be friends?

The morning sun, oh feel the warm
The brightness as it gives itself
To the proudest and the lowliest form
              As radiated celestial  health

It does not discriminate or choose
              But freely gives to all
              Consistently and does not refuse
              The Creator's ancient call

Thoughts that bombard you and steal you breath
Movement uneasy and slow
Somebody is making announcements of death
From a place where the living won't go

Can't say for sure whether near or far
But like a merchant with something to sell
You're offered delusion and a hitch to a star
From somewhere just this side of hell

Here's how to think, now, they say choose A or B
There are only two plates on the table
Don't go into the house only dead men can see
On a foundation of sand, weak and unstable

Seems far away, yet close as my skin
Beyond the barrier of sight and sound
I hear, I see new patterns begin
Where the old assumptions can't be found

Letting go can tear the soul
But holding on can break the will
Of reachin' for a future goal
That waits to live, that the past would ****

Nights in solitude and doubt
The daylight gives you hope
Sometimes so sure you know what it'a all about
But with confusion you still cope

Till you release thoughts so stale
The break and fall apart
Clarity lies behind the veil
Where faith hears the Word within the heart

When the time is right
               When it falls into place
               Beside the still waters
And the green pastures of grace

Beyond the wistful wind of thought
Lies a destiny, a dream once sought
Listening to voices within and without
Collision of reason and reasonable doubt

Waiting for Wisdom to make the path plain
While passing our time on a hobo train
Bound for somewhere , right or wrong
Arriving right where you got on
