poem for Noam (Chomsky)
Chris D Sep 2020
a labyrinth of complicity
so complicated
you'll never get out
a cavern of isolation
so deep
they'll never hear you shout
a system so pervasive
you'll never achieve
true doubt
a foe so powerful
you can't even have
a fair bout
imagine that you
lack the imagination
to really change the world
for the revolution

"nature poem"
Chris D Sep 2020
mother nature
gave me a stone from her heart
for singing the last lullaby
to the last panda bear
she said i could sell it
on the black market
for a lot of money
to spend on
saving the icebergs
but i told her "no"
because my financial advisor
has other ideas

baptised free-floating
in cherry blossom ice cream
lost and found again

no lemon air cone
tastes as good as your mouth does
when you haven't brushed

3
goldenberry slush
will make me forget myself
only when it counts

laminated mints
won't dissolve until you've lost
everything you love

latent humor, with a wry sensability
a bashful yet wise gaze
fronted by big shiny brown eyes
a profound sensitivity
with a vantage point that is both
docile and commanding
how could this be?

credit crunch
Chris D Sep 2020
stinking of abandoned houses
and sedan ripened lotion
criminally fragrent
and blown out of the most
blistering proportion
dotting the suburbs
with used needles
all the better
to puncture the inner sanctum
relapsing on over the counter
anti-venom
like always
while fainting as the cops
waive your arms in the air
saying "i did it"
for you
well it wasn't you
so don't take other people's
credit

You treat my axels so badly
And yet when I see my hub cap
taking a seperate route
I have to smile
You alarm me
with your vibe
But it's a vibe
I'm not privy to truly understanding
Alone in the lot
returning greetings
with awkward white boy handshakes
Stress and sweaty impatience
yield to bliss and utter evisceration
And as I drive away I think:
I'll have to make eye contact
with that cop another time
Because right now
he's got too much "pig energy"
and I'm just trying to chill

"sneaky, sneaky"
Chris D Sep 2020
you said you could tell
but i never left a trace
when all the dust had settled
you said you knew
but there's no way in hell
you saw through
those saddled lies
the one time
i failed to tie
the loose ends
i went over your head
and brought him the big bill
saying i think this got stuck
under the cash register
"good boy," he said

politics on ice
Chris D Sep 2020
north korean barbershop quintets
singing a sour noted ballad called
"the people's will has failed us"
in the loneliest spot
of an unfinished graveyard
for model citizens
this gave me enough courage
to pull the trigger on a new
book in my wishlist
called "so you want to buy your
own country: 6 easy steps"
i knew i had it in me
to read the whole thing
but when i got to chapter two
i'd heard enough
and went to work
becoming a mover and a shaker
getting my hands
on everything i could
for the revolution

"kosmik pinball"
Chris D Sep 2020
chargin out there
in some kind of a
weird hurry
absolutely nothing
on your mind
your Sunday power
waining
and  cosmic rays
hailing the arrival
of your failing rising sign
your horoscope'd hangover
beating the drum for you
all this sounds real enough
to me

"poetic suicide"
Chris D Sep 2020
Tossed like a raincoat in the sun
Going straight for some backwards fun
She looks like a flower
in the barrel of a gun
Leave her alone
for once
