PIECES
Tom Turner Sep 2020
When love
is lots of pieces
of someone
I hide my address book away
for that rainy day
when love
again becomes pieces
of lots of someones.

FOR CT
Tom Turner Sep 2020
Everyone has a song
deep in their soul
It’s the dream
that makes them whole.

Makes them believe
in God and love
and all that’s good.
You are my song.

THE TIDE
Tom Turner Sep 2020
The March deadness
Blows down the beach.
I sit.  Without the nerve
to walk on, but with nerve enough
not to walk away.

Water at my feet.
Tired.
I will not run-walk away
The tide is slowly coming in.

BEGINNINGS
Tom Turner Sep 2020
BEGINNING I

You’re a strange world
laughing eyes
softness
tears for crushed flowers

You make a strange world out of me
when you touch me
and make me
begin to think
of kids and kites
and going to church again
on Sundays
and breaking promises
I made to me.

BEGINNING II

The sun and you
are going,
the pain is coming
and I am
beginning II rain

BEGINNING III

I am beginning
to believe
it’s time to quit.

Believing
Hoping
Hurting.

Traveler
Tom Turner Sep 2020
Watch for me.
I slip by easily,
a breath of wind
on April nights.

Watch for signs of me
in the road
to know that I have been –
dust, disturbed
by feet shuffled restlessly
in places I have pauses too long.

And if you look to find me,
do not look where I have been,
for I do not return.

Please Don't
Tom Turner Sep 2020
Love,
if you should decide
to someday
try me again,
please don’t.

I could not
again
be what I was
with her

and I cannot
again
be what I am
without her.
Tom Turner Sep 2020
Two loves diverged in the words, and I
I was the one that said goodbye.

And now, for countless nights
Long since gone by
I sit and wonder why.
