Isn’t it strange how we hide ourselves from others?
Use laughter as a smokescreen for our sorrow,
cover up our insecurities in search of validity,
how many times must we lie? to maintain our disguise

We are the ones who feel the most; the downtrodden few,
we hide behind the many; thus sacrifice our individuality
This isn’t done in fear, it’s done for security from tears
How many times mustn’t we cry? To maintain our disguise

‘We’ is I; but it may be you as it may be others,
‘We’ represent the few; the sufferers of mental turmoil
Unknown to the many; we are among you,
In the hope that we’ll rise, to cast off our disguise

But when the horizon is opaque; storms are bound to come
When support paths are unavailable; mental states diminish further
All the while the statistics dominate and the individuals fade
How many times must must ‘we’ die? Maintaining our disguise.
