Poetic License
Remember me Jun 2019
So Shakespeare wrote in metre, blank and rhyming
such a challenge melding sense with timing.
Some twenty-first century poets meanwhile
ignoring rules difficult to reconcile
wanting the easy flow of a raconteur
said to hell with iambic pentameter.

But the goal remains as before,
to blow your mind clean out the door
and however it goes
you know it's not prose.

An oxymoronic ode
Remember me Jul 2019
I might be a devout atheist
I might be an extreme centrist
but as a senior minion
it is my unbiased opinion
that fun poetry is like civil war
if it was popular there'd be more.

Matters of the Heart
Remember me Feb 2020
A heart should not be fickle,
certainly not the left ventricle.
We need a reliable transporter
of blood to the aorta.

The heart should be steadfast,
not letting what was said last
set it amorously thumping,
but just diligently pumping.
