Broken Glass
Kim weser Mar 2019
Broken Glass is what I feel like I’m walking on,
The glass gets broken every time you’re gone,
It’s fragile and I try to handle it with care
But it gets shattered with your stare.

Broken glass seems to line my pathway in life,
The shards are so sharp and they cut like a knife,
It’s colored and reflects light in such a way,
That it looks different during the day.

Broken glass represents my heart,
Every time glass gets broken it rips it apart,
I try so hard to piece it back together,
But I guess it’s destined to be broken forever.

Broken glass represents my soul,
As long as it’s broken it will never be whole,
The glass surrounds me and keeps mounting,
Because it’s hurting me I keep on shouting.

Broken glass is the definitive that defines who I am,
I’m cut and bleeding and I don’t give a ****,
It’s cut me to shreds time after time,
I’m ready to pick up the pieces and keep them as mine.

Dear John
Kim weser Mar 2019
The postman delivered your letter today,
You told me that you could no longer stay,
As I read it I shed some tears,
It was bad; it was just as I feared.

The letter was your dear John,
It explained to me why you had been gone,
You found a way to break my heart,
But you told me how you loved me from the start.

Our love I thought would last forever,
But now we’re no longer together,
My soul aches and longs for you,
I’m glad you had the guts to tell me the truth.

Soul mates no longer are we,
You have finally gotten me to see,
Thank you for setting me free,
You called me today at a quarter past three.

I wanted our relationship to last,
But the time for that has past,
We will never see each other again,
So I no longer have to pretend.

The Cafe
Kim weser Mar 2019
The cafe has many familiar smells and sounds,
I can buy my coffee there by the pound,
The cafe has fresh bread baking,
Homemade pies they are in the process of making.

The cafe allows me to sit and drink my coffee in peace,
At the counter sits the police,
The cafe has such wonderful smells,
Mr. Jones waves and lets us know he’s doing well.

The cafe sales pies by the slice,
It’s a place I can go get advice,
The cafe is a friendly place in my hometown,
It serves the best fried chicken around.

The cafe is where all my friends like to gather,
Mrs. Smith’s in the kitchen making fresh pancake batter,
The cafe is where the kids grow up,
The kids who never leave town get stuck.

The cafe houses simple town folks,
You can get your favorite ice cream float,
The cafe stays close to my heart,
Right here is where I got my start.
