If I looked inside your heart
What would I find
Would I see the pain
And the dreams you left behind

Who would I see
A child or a mother
An innocent mind
And a so like no other

Did you have any where to go
When the lights at the end
Of your block didn't glow
Did you have any where to hide
When you were scared
While the storm raged inside

If you looked on the mirror
Would it be who you hoped to see
The lines on your face tell a different tale
While the stars point out your dreams

Did you take a chance in New York City
Where the Marque lights shine so bright
Or did you try your hand in Vegas
Before your money was gone
And they threw you out into the night

Here comes another way
For them to break me down
Here comes another day
Another chance to wear the crown
Here comes another day
For them to break my walls
It's the only thing
Protecting what's left of my heart

But I'm not that different
I'm not so unjustified
Theres not much to compare
Between you and I

When will they see
When will they learn
Why don't they build
Instead of burn
Would they see me
If I was the last one standing there
Would they pass me by
Would they care
If they saw me

One more wish
For one more day
One more try
To find my way
I can get by
On my own
With just my bag
And a heart of stone

But I'm not that different
I'm not so unjustified
Theres not much to compare
Between you and I

When will they see
When will they learn
Why don't they build
Instead of burn
Would they see me
If I was the last one standing there
Would they pass me by
Would they care
If they saw me

They're so afraid
To see what I can be
Would they think differently
If they met the real me
Underneath this rough
And weary ***
There's a heart
That wants to learn to love

When will they see
When will they learn
Why don't they build
Instead of burn
Would they see me
If I was the last one standing there
Would they pass me by
Would they care
If they saw me

You ask if this is over
And I'm not sure what to say
I know we can't go much further
And I know we've had to pay

But who am I to tell you
What will be or won't
I can't see the future
And I'll tell you that I don't

But sometimes I can swear
That there's still something there
Trapped behind the words we say
I know the pains too much to bear
And it seems it gets no where
But I'll give you an answer
If we make it through today

Though all the fights and anger
Can't lift my spirits high
And through all the danger
We both still close our eyes

I'm not some kind of soldier
To come and save the day
And we both get only older
As our hair is turning gray

But sometimes I can swear
That there's still something there
Trapped behind the words we say
I know the pains too much to bear
And it seems it gets no where
I'll give you an answer
If we make it through today

Some times I'd like to go back
To when we still believed
That our love would make us stronger
And not drive us to our knees

But sometimes I can swear
That there's still something there
Trapped behind the words we say
I know the pains too much to bear
And it seems it gets no where
I'll give you an answer
If we make it through today

Tonight I need some sign
Won't you let me know if I'm still alive
Tell me if I'm only dreaming
Yeah tell me if I'm still breathing

Cause I feel so weak
And everything looks so bleak
The clouds can hold back the rain
But my body can't take the pain

So if you want
Would you lay with me tonight
Yeah if you want
Would you hold me close
And dry my eyes
Yeah it seems so wrong
Cause I don't
No I really don't want to go

Today was better
Than it has been for a while
And I could laugh
Yeah people even saw me smile

And it's such a pity
Yeah man it's such a shame
But if you want to baby
You can tell everyone my name

Yeah if you want
Would you lay with me tonight
Yeah if you want
Would you hold me close
And dry my eyes
Yeah It seems so wrong
Cause I swear I don't
No I really don't want to go

What would you do
If you were me?
How many mouths
Would you try to feed
Would you walk on water
To rescue those in need
What would you do
If you were me?

What would you say
About these times
Would you cross over the lines
And put down their signs
Would you make darkness hide
And let your light shine
What would you say
About these times?

Because I'm trying Lord
But I'm just a man
I could use a word from you
To tell me what you had planned
Do they know we're there
Do they know we care?
Help me to see
Everything I'm called to be
What would you do
If you were me

You've done it all
I've heard before
You forgave the rich
And you loved the poor
And they were so amazed
When you calmed the storm
You've done it all
I've heard before

I've heard the story
A thousand times
The lame could walk
And He once was blind
But there's still one thing
I dont realize
Why you would die
When the debt was mine
I've heard the story
A thousand times

Because I'm trying Lord
But I'm just a man
I could use a word from you
To tell me what you had planned
Do they know we're there
Do they know we care?
Help me to see
Everything I'm called to be
What would you do
If you were me

Every day I see people
Pass me by
Their looks are all the same
Some are angry and some want to cry
Some just need a hand to hold
For when life gives in
And it leaves them in the cold

My bed is in New York City
And I think that's where I'll stay
To say how do you do
To a stranger on the street today
I'll die in New York City
But I know no one will know my name
But if you come to New York City
You'll be sorry that you came

I see rich men in ties
And hobos down to their last dime
Pass each other by every day
The ballpark's always opened
The flowers are always in bloom
If you need Romance
All you need is money for a hotel room

My bed is in New York City
And I think that's where I'll stay
To say how do you do
To a stranger on the street today
I'll die in New York City
But I know no one will know my name
But if you come to New York City
You'll be sorry that you came

I guess I missed the feeling
I can't believe I'd stoop so low
That I'd give anything
But the end I already know

I know this song all to well
I've read this book before
And I may be put through hell
But I'm coming back for more

I can't pretend no
I can't do without
What you have against me
I can't figure out
Times have changed
And were both much older now
And you spin me around and around
Like a broken record

Should have known
We couldn't just be friends
Should have known
You couldn't stay away

I love it all
Until the end
I guess I'll learn one day

I can't pretend no
I can't do without
What you have against me
I can't figure out
Times have changed
And were both much older now
And you're spinning me around
Like a broken record

I try so hard, and I get so far
Only to fall away again
I try so hard and get so far
Only to miss you again
Maybe one day I'll learn
Before I get burned

I can't pretend no
I can't do without
What you have against me
I can't figure out
Times have changed
And were both much older now
And you're spinning me around
Like a broken record

Imagine there's no virus
It's easy it you try
There's no one wearing face masks
And no one ever dies

Imagine all the people
Living free without a care
Ah

Imagine there's no violence
Is it something you could see
In the streets there are no riots
But love for humanity

Imagine all the people
Who live and let live
Yeah

You may say I'm crazy
And it may be true
But if I can see a world beyond this
Then maybe one day so will you

Imagine there's no possessions
It's easier than it sounds
No one's killing just to have it
And the world keeps spinning round

Imagine all the people
Who finally learn to share
Ah

You may say I'm crazy
And it may be true
But if I can see a world beyond this
Then maybe one day so will you

If the shoe fits
Thats how the story goes
And rumors get bigger
If they have the water to grow

But I dont care anything about that
It's just a waste of my time
I'm tired of making your "headlines"
That poison your readers minds

Well you sip your champagne
With all of your friends
You slander my name
But that's not how it ends

Cause I'm gonna be me again
I'm not gonna try and pretend
To be anything but me
I'm gonna be the one
That's busy having fun
While you wallow in your "i told you so's"
Yeah I'm gonna be me
The me that no one knows

I take a walk down the street
And someone says "hey that's him
You better watch out for that one
Cause you don't know what he did"

Between a thousand different voices
I used to run and hide
But for the first time today
I stopped listening to what they had to say
And I guess I'm doing alright

Cause you can't judge a book
By the cover it shows
A millionaire could be a philistine
Underneath all his clothes

Cause I'm gonna be me again
I'm not gonna try and pretend
To be anything but me
I'm gonna be the one
That's busy having fun
While you wallow in your "i told you so's"
Yeah I'm gonna be me
The me that no one knows

You think you know someone
When they're all you think about
Listen girl I'm telling you
You see me down but I'm not out

I know how you tried
To cut me down to size
And all your friends listened to you well
Well life gets lonely and it only gets colder
When you're making your way through Hell

And I was such a fool
To think I'd never be over you
But if you could only see me now
You'd realize you'll have to find
Yourself another clown

I'm not a part of this circus
And baby you're not my ring leader
I once was a man without a purpose
And you were a real attention eater
But baby those days are long gone
The curtains are closed
And the show can't go on

Spent five years running down the road
I lost my wheel with no where else to roll
But I don't stop and try to reminisce
And I don't worry about
The things that could have been

I'm not a part of this circus
And baby you're not my ring leader
I once was a man without a purpose
And you were a real attention eater
But baby those days are long gone
The curtains are closed
And the show can't go on

Sometimes I can still see the lights
Flashing around our heads
Baby there's gonna have to be an act
That can top everything we had

I'm not a part of this circus
And baby you're not my ring leader
I once was a man without a purpose
And you were a real attention eater
But baby those days are long gone
The curtains are closed
And the show can't go on

Take this life
I selflessly bestow
Upon the joy upon the sorrow
For dreams I have none to borrow
And time I have not to spare!
You are just, those who deem
And those that see or those that seem
That life is more than breath
And realms are more than dreams

Dreaming is the fashion
And they hold their own passion
And hope after all is the thing
But if hope has gone before
And journeyed long
In a timely matter passing
And the good days
Have surpassed me
In the forsaken days of Yore
Has life in its favor
Been a mere misadventure?
Then life my friends is the theme
And my thoughts are the thread
Which grasps the seams of
My own dreams.

Kind stranger!
How convenient we should meet
While fate has taken matters for its own
You must seek what I have found
And you tread on familiar ground
In another world I know your face
A time before in a different place
Where I was, you were not present
And who I am, you one day will be.
Hank Love Sep 2020
I moved to the city
When I was still a child
And people then
They knew something was wrong
They'd always stop and stare
And cut me down to size
Saying "the boys too different
He doesn't belong"

It was 7 years ago
When I came to know her
Someone who saw the man inside
The only one who could see
The man behind the myths
And who could hear the truth
Behind the lies

No one even knew
What I felt for her
No one cared enough
To ask me why
I think the thing
I loved about her most of all
Is how much better I saw myself
In someone elses eyes

One night a man came to my door
With a badge of silver in his hands
He showed me her picture
And he pointed his finger
He asked me why I did it
But no one ever knew about our plans

No one even knew
What I felt for her
No one cared enough
To ask me why
I think the thing
I loved about her most of all
Is how much better I saw myself
In someone elses eyes

We had plans to run away together
Go somewhere where we knew
We would not be hurt
We would Leave town and run away
And start a new life with another name
Until a jealous ex
Boyfriend found her first

No one even knew
What I felt for her
No one cared enough
To ask me why
I think the thing
I loved about her most of all
Is how much better I saw myself
In someone elses eyes

Four roads meet,
The map tells the car to turn right,
But the car across from them must turn left.
I am not in either of the vehicles.
I'm not sure how I've gotten here either.
Nor am I sure which road to take.
The map in my hand has grown worn
And makes it to where I cannot see.
My heart is the angel on my left shoulder
And my mind is the devil upon my right.
The heart, though silent, speaks to me
In a way that only I can understand.
But I can hardly hear that voice,
When the mind screams
At me in great volumes.
The passengers inside the vehicles
Pose as distraction, as each of them
Tells me a different direction.
One path is barren,
Filled with pain and sacrifice
While the other is paved in silver lining.
And the third is marked with the footsteps
From my past.
And I stand separating each of them.
Should I take the easy path,
I must ask myself if it will always be
The straight and narrow
The whole way through.
And should I take the barren path,
I fear that it will be constant.
So today I stand in the crossroads.
Tomorrow I may take one path,
And the next perhaps I will take the other.
But today, I pray that I at least take one step.

With A thousand thoughts
She lies awake in bed
While I'm asleep having nightmares again
Is this love, oh is this love?

In distance we're only
Two inches apart
A thousand miles away
In both of our hearts
Is this love, oh is this love?

Is it the house that's a mess
Or something more
Is there something in the way
Between her and the door

Is this what they call love?
Is this what I've always been told?
Not everything is what it seems
And not all that glitters is gold
Is this what they call love?
Or has someone burned the page
No happy ending from what I can see
No more butterflies only rage
Is this love

Tell me Is this love?

I wonder what she would think
If I told her that I was on the brink
Of walking away
But I couldn't go back the way I came
Is this love, oh is this love

I wonder what she would say
If I told her that I feel the same way
But id tell her that I'm tired of pacing the floor
The flames still burning but it don't hurt anymore
Is this love, oh is this love

Is it the past
That's creeping up again?
I'm knocking at her door
But she won't let me in

Is this what they call love?
Is this what I've always been told?
Not everything is what it seems
And not all that glitters is gold
Is this what they call love?
Or has someone burned the page
No happy ending from what I can see
No more butterflies only rage
Is this love

Another thought is left unsaid
I thought i saw you in the car ahead
The suns in my eyes but I can clearly see
No matter how hard i try it's just not meant to be

I told myself no, oh no
Said it was better to be all alone
Id never stay mad at myself for long
And my heart wouldn't break
When I hear that song
All these memories have no place to go
All along I told myself no..

Love was a risk and the stakes were high
I took a chance and gambled with my life
And I told myself not to fall so far
Now I'm telling myself not to fall apart

I've got your name on my heart
Never thought I'd play this part
And now nothing can soothe my soul

I told myself no, oh no
Said it was better to be all alone
Id never stay mad at myself for long
And my heart wouldn't break
When I hear that song
All these memories have no place to go
All along I told myself no..

This is a musical number i wrote for a scene  on a play i am writing titled Mister Gates and the Return From Nowhere. In this scene Mister Gates is being followed home by bums.

BUMS:
It's a cruel, dull life
In the slums, (In the slums)
Considered by the village
We are bums, (we are bums!)

You have silken sheets
And warm feather beds
We have city streets
With a rock to lay our heads!

(TO MISTER GATES)

Please, Mister! Please!
Could you spare a moment of your time?
A portion of your love
Indeed Could make a world so fine!
Please, Mister, Please!

Mister Gates:
I work all day,
To the common man I'm a slave!
And yet the people here
Expect me to give it all away!

Bums:
Think about the children,
Do you have any of your own?
Winter's here again at last
And we are forced to roam!

Our stomachs all are empty,
But our dreams they are full
We are down to our last shilling
A life of a *** is absolutely cruel!

Please, Mister! Please!
Could you spare? Be so kind!
A portion of your copper
Would feed their children and mine!
Please, Mister Please!

Mister Gates:
Senseless lot!

Bums:
Mister, please show some heart!

Mister Gates:
Filthy slobs!

Bums:
By the rest of the world, forgot!

Mister Gates:
Dreadful sobs!

Bums:
We haven't got alot!

Mister Gates:
Why don't you get a job!

Bums:
Please, Mister! Please!

Mister Gates:
I tell you, I will not! GOOD DAY!

(Door slams)

I walk along the avenue every day
Right up to my street
Then a voice calls behind me
It sounds familiar and it sounds so sweet

"Hello, how are you? Did you miss me? It's good to see you again!
I'm sorry for the way things turned out"
Well baby I tell you it's no skin

It's no skin, no baby
Off of my hide
It's no skin baby
But it sure was a ride
Things happen for a reason
And it might be a sin
But its no skin

I stroll into work
And I'm running late
A voice yells behind me man
And things don't look too great

"Boy I tell you
Just one more
If I catch you late again
I'll send you out that door"

Its no skin, no boss man
Off of my hide
It's no skin no boss man
And it's not worth the fight
There's plenty of other places
That would let me in
So it's no skin man

I get home from work
And I wanna lay my head
My landlord is a drag
And has other plans for me instead

"You're late on your rent
You know I can kick you out
But I'll give you one more chance
For you to figure it out"

It's no skin, man no
Off of my hide
It's no skin man, I tell you
I'll get along fine
I could end up on the street
And God knows what I'd do then
But its no skin man

It's (Still) the End of the World As We Know It

We're still here, that's weird
It's not exactly clear
When my friend
When will it ever end
I don't know don't care
Everything is just too much to bear
Guys are girls, girls are guys
Seems the world is all in black and white
There's pollution abortion
Can I take a portion of your time

Religious people sitting in bars
Thats a hook hey look
There's people crashing into cop cars
Oh hey that's great
Here comes another earthquake
Sirens go by smoke fills the sky
People wonder why nobody cares
Well it's true, they do
But they only care about themselves
Another states underwater
People are riding on top of book shelves

Covid is a motive
For people to cause destruction
Burn their automotives,
Build their explosives
Oh no what do you do
When men in suits are running after you
They think you're up to something
They think you know something
Are you talking about the alien invasion
And how you won't warn the nation?
We're sitting ducks
Just waiting to be ****** up
Into the sky

I wonder how I wonder why
How it ever came to this
And why it always gets dismissed
The people cry with no one there
To dry their eyes
Turn on the tevelevision
And you get more lies

It's still the end of the world as we know it
It's the same thing we've all heard before
It's still the end of the world as we know it
But I dont think the world can take much more

Hair black as night
And eyes as oceans blue
I won't forget you

The tears we've shared
And the rubble we've crawled through
I won't forget you

And the moments
That never revealed themselves
The things we promised
That we would do

I won't forget you
I can still see your face
I won't forget you
And your voice is one
That I could never replace
And there's a place in my heart
That will only be owned by you
I won't forget you

All the miles
That used to separate
Seem even longer than they were
It's true, I won't forget you

And all the moments we shared
Staying up so late
The minutes seem longer without you

And all the promises
Were they all in vain
I gave you everything I had to give
But I still couldn't stop the pain

I won't forget you
I can still see your face
I won't forget you
And your voice is one
That I could never replace
And there's a place in my heart
That will only be owned by you
I won't forget you

Oh that Jack babe Has a knife dear
And he never leaves a trace
But have you seen his face dear
He looks like a monster
Well it looks like they have a case

You know when that Jack strikes
With his knife babe
There's never any time to scream
You could run, oh, but he'll be behind you
While you're praying that it's all a dream

There's An alleyway ahead huh huh
Monday morning uh huh
With a body and its quite a sight, eek!
And someone's creepin within the crowd
Could that someone be Jack with the knife

There's the docks huh huh
Down by the water don't you know
Some say he works there during the day
And there's a teacher that someone fingered
But that teacher drowned himself in the bay

Now did you hear about Mary Kelly
They found her body on the floor at home
Seems she went out
One night with her friends babe
But she never came home alone

And now the boss babe
Seems he got a letter
From the man
Yes Ol Jack himself

And that letter
Is stained in red dear
You could see it for yourself

I said Mary Kelly Annie Chapman
Look out for Mary Nichols
And Elizabeth Stride
Now that line forms on the right babe
Cause old Jack might strike tonight

Look out old Jack is back

I feel exactly
Just like you
Under my skin
My blood is blue

Our color is different
But we are still the same
I wish you thought so
It's such a shame

I have my rights
Just like you
You have feelings
I've got them too

Well my friend
It stays the same
That everyone thinks
That we're to blame

Love doesn't have color
Love has no pride
Why can't we just
Put race aside

I've been hurt
I've been accused
For committing a crime
That I didn't do

They throw their stones
They wave their signs
They say I don't belong
But I think it's time

To feel
Just like me
To heal
Just like me

Cause love has no color
Love has no pride
Why can't we put
Our race aside

Well my friend
I got killed today
For going down one road
And I lost my way

But things are different
Up above the sky
Still I can't help
But wonder why

Cause love has no color
Love has no pride
Why oh why can't we just
Put race aside

I'm just a fool
On a subway train
Talking about the one
That got away
The people in the station
They know my name
And the girl I'll never see again

I wish that I could cry
But I'd sound so naive
I could Find a way to lie
And say she never loved me

She played my games
And I broke her heart
But she gave it to me
Right from the start
I'm just a man
And I make mistakes
I'm only human
But I'm less than that today

I'm just the fool
Who said goodbye
Even though that's not
What I had in mind
Everyone knows
That I'm to blame
They call it a loss
And say it's a shame

I wish that I could
Fall on my knees
And shout to the Heavens
"Woe is me"
Shame on me

She played my games
And I broke her heart
But she gave it to me
Right from the start
I'm just a man
And I make mistakes
I'm only human

All these plans and dreams
Dissapear behind the scenes
In the smoke of a refinery
Staring back at me

All the sleepless nights
Put away upon a shelf
Trying to find a place in life
And make a name for myself

What do I do now
Or do I just give up
Throw in the towel and walk away
And say enough's enough?

Just let me be
Who I want to be
I could never shine
In someone else's light
I could never find what I'm looking for
In someone else's eyes

Would you just let me be
One day you'll see
That I was made for so much more
Than what you're making me
Just let me be

Saying goodbye, turned around
And left it all behind
All the wishes I made upon a star
Waiting for my light to shine

But now I know it's not me
It's not who I'm called to be
Everything that you see now
Is everything you'll ever see

But something feels so wrong
It's not how I had planned
Things happen for a reason
And maybe you'll understand

Just let me be
Who I want to be
I could never shine
In someone else's light
I could never find what I'm looking for
In someone else's eyes

Would you just let me be
One day you'll see
That I was made for so much more
Than what you're making me
Just let me be

We're blindfolded on a roller coaster.
We are unaware of where or when
The highs will come nor the lows.
However, we are aware
That they will come eventually.
Of course, on a roller coaster,
There's always the sense of excitement.
Which leads me to believe that
The reason we love what
We fear the most?
Is simply because it shows us
That we're all still alive.

I can't control myself
And the feelings that I've never shown
Like a wild stallion never to be tamed
And forced to roam the earth alone

No I never thought
That I could ever be
Someone's Christmas present
Held in your captivity

Wild hearts can't be broken
But right now I'm feeling blue
You can lead a horse to water
But he won't drink when he's missing you

So I think im gonna live my life
Thinking about everything I left behind
Dreaming about a place ill never see
And people I'll never love thats kind

And I think im gonna run away
And maybe eat my weight in hay
Cursing those people
That make us out to be purses
I think im going to live like horses

I can get mean
If you stand too close to me
It's just in my nature don't be alarmed
Because like you I have a broken heart

Deep down I really want to feel
My ribs getting hurt by a thousand heels
And somewhere to get myself warm
When nights gets cold

Life is never easy
When it's only you in the field
New horses come around
But they don't feel how I feel

So I think im gonna live my life
Thinking about everything I left behind
Dreaming about a place ill never see
And people I'll never love thats so kind

And I think im gonna run away
And maybe eat my weight in hay
Cursing those people
That make us out to be purses
I think im going to live like horses

Tonight I'm gonna
Have myself a ball
I'm feeling crazy
And I dont care at all

I might be the only one drinking
Maybe I'm a bit too loud but it's all right
Look out world don't try to stop me now
Its Saturday night and I'm coming alive

I'm floating on air
Walking on a thin line
And I feel ecstacy
Swimming through my veins

There's no stopping me
Cause I'm on cloud nine
And I'm gonna have
A real good time today

I've been running on fumes
Most of my life
Ive Never asked
This world for much

But tonight
It's all about me
I'm not gonna stop
Until I get enough

I'm feeling so high
I never wanna come down
I kind of like it
Up here in space

Yes I'm a shooting star
Shooting up the sky
And I'll never be
In one place

I'm floating on air
Walking on a thin line
And I feel ecstacy
Swimming through my veins

There's no stopping me
When I'm on cloud nine
And I'm gonna have
A real good time today

I want to feel
But all I feel is cold
I want to love
But the feeling is getting old

Someone like her
Just can't see
Someone like her
Can't ever love me

I want to feel
A women's skin
Every time I get close
I fall back down again

I want someone
Who won't chain me up
Don't box me in
I want someone
But it all depends

These eyes have seen much pain
And this heart is worn
I want a love just not undercover
A love so pure the veil is torn

I want to feel
But all I feel is cold
I want to love
But the feeling is getting old
I want to love

Love is a movie.
You'll want to see what happens next,
                 But you'll hate the end.

What I did is mixed superstition from all over the world and put it into one humoured poem.

I have always had a thing for Luck.
I try to walk under one or two ladders
A day, if possible.
It's been rather lonely since my shadow
Stopped coming around.
I used to see him once a day or so.
My reflection has started giving me
The silent treatment
After I broke his heart.
I hear the city is repaving
The sidewalk cracks
My mother will be so relieved!
The black alley cat
Found his way back home,
So I am alone.
Except for my thirteen friends
Who only visit me on a Friday night.
I'm a little upset though
Because one of them spilled the pepper
And The bread I was fixing to eat
Fell on the floor upside down.
Nothing is going my way,
I've lost my keys
I could have sworn they were on the table.
My German friend is great
He never fails to wish me a happy birthday
Although it is still a few months away.
Yes sir, life is funny sometimes.
Lucky me!

where keep thou thy place of lodge
within the eyes of the lord
beyond a master fair
a secret there is
the chosen few declare
among thine own brethren
whom, ere thou, a servant
work, thine own way of prayer
many know, tho  nay  hast knelt
in  thine own temple
where even solomon dwelt

Neither the measure of a man's influence on worldly matters, nor his knowledge of the world will spare him from being crushed by it. Only the fear he has for He who created it is suffient.

To those Battling Bipolar, depression or anxiety, much as myself.

Doubtless you should
So easily forget!
We are that
What you cannot see!
How long shall life suffer you
Until you realize this!
We are the soft incantations
That which you place inside
The inner core of your mind!
Controlling your every thought
While you so soundly sleep!
We will change you.
You will not walk outside
For even during the daylight
We hold our shadow!
In you, we confide
Your every fear,
Towards that which you love most.
We are here, you see,
Tho we cannot so easily
Be summoned.
You have known us
Yet are afraid to call by name.
We, the soft voices
Daunting your every way of life.
The sole purpose
You may sleep in a well lit room.
We are your enemy
And when others have turned away,
We are the only friend you have.
We, are you.

I got bored trying to **** time.

The Doctor will be here soon.
I just have to wait a few more days.
"Hes not coming for you." Shut up!
He's got my discharge papers.
He'll sign them, and I'll get to go home!
I get to leave! He promised.
"You're not getting out of here." AHH!
You know, being in here for a few days,
I thought I'd go a little crazy.
But what's three days shy of ten years?
Look at me! Have you seen
What darkness does to a person?
It makes them mad.
My friends aren't with me anymore.
They got well. But I'm not alone.
Hey buddy. Are you my friend?
Why are you saying
The same thing that I'm saying?
Stop staring at me!
Ten years is a long time
When the only people you talk to
Are the ones that aren't even there?
"We're here." Go Away!
I'm ready to go doctor.
What? What do you mean
Mentally unstable?
What do you mean I have to stay?
No! You promised me! You lied to me!
"Why did you **** him?" Shut up!
"He had your papers." Leave me alone!
"You're never getting out of here now."
*******! *******! Empty promises!
"You belong to us." AHH!
"Say Hello to the nice people."
I don't wanna! I don't wanna!
I don't wanna! I don't wanna!

I'm sorry....Have I said something?

Keep your distance
Stay away
It's the same old thing
On a different day
Tell me is this all how it  ends?

Be sure to wear
A mask on your face
Everyone's running
But this isn't a race
Tell me is this all how it ends?

Doors are closed
We have no jobs
A poor man has
A rich man robs
Cant you see?

It's not over yet
I'm calling your bluff
This isn't a game
We've had enough
Of your mind games
We're not down and out
Keep moving on
I promise we'll see
A brand new dawn
And we'll make it through
Your mind games

How long are you gonna
Keep up this charade?
Were living in a world
Full of masquerades
I dont know anyone anymore
What are you hiding for?

We're not really living
In fact we're scared to death
But we'll keep fighting
Until we take our last breath
Yeah and maybe then
Maybe we'll see an end

Doors are closed
We have no jobs
A poor man has
A rich man robs
Cant you see?

It's not over yet
I'm calling your bluff
This isn't a game
We've had enough
Of your mind games
We're not down and out
Keep moving on
I promise we'll see
A brand new dawn
And we'll make it through
Your mind games

Its Friday night
My old mans probably
Turning up another bottle
While he chews on the fat
My old lady's in her apron never satisfied
She slaves all day and that's a fact

My baby sisters around somewhere
Turning every head in town
You know the cats really go
For some heels and a show
Wearing that gown
And some rings in her ears

Were just your modern day people
Just your model American trash
This house is not a home
And this street is my steeple
Your average age product of the working class

Well you can find me
I'll be on the square
Looking for a pretty thing
Without a care
We can get a little *****
We can have some fun
Lighting up til half past none

Were just your modern day people
Just your model American trash
This house is not a home
And this street is my steeple
Your modern age product of the working class

Modern day Kid

Wrote this about Billy the Kid about a little kid and his dad who play Billy and Sherriff Pat Garrett

A little Kid
With a little gun
Pulls the trigger back
Just for fun

He says "I'll make you famous
Don't you deny!
But an outlaw like me
Someday will die."

There is a man
Standing six feet tall
With a shiny old badge
And a hat of straw

Says "Now before you go Kid
Any last words to say?"
But his mama calls
And he rides away

A little girl
Lives down the street
With skin so dark
Whispers words so sweet

She says "I am a damsel
And I'm in distress"
He steals a kiss
And blushes red

Little Kid
With a little gun
Pulls the trigger back
Just for fun
He gets on his bike
His mama calls him in
The Little Kid rides again

You may hide under here
Or perhaps somewhere there
But do rid yourself
Of Momo's stare.
If it is on a page
Perhaps in a book
It's best not to find
And best not to look.
If you hear her name
It's good to not share
Do rid yourself of Momo's stare.
If you are able to see
Through her long dark hair
You will find the eyes
Protruding from every side
And every where.
She wears a smile from ear to ear
That is the way they describe her
At least that is what I hear
You must beware the glare
Of Momo's stare.

Mona Lisa
Do you hide behind your smile
Mona Lisa
Can I stop and stare a while
Your pain is a work of art
But there is no way to disguise
Your broken heart

Is it lonely
On your side of the glass?
Are you happy there
Or has the feeling come to pass?
Do you know a strangers touch
From a helpless romantic
Who doesn't know that much

Mona Lisa
You will never feel the warmth
Of a bright new day
Mona Lisa
You can never smell a field
With fresh cut hay
Mona Lisa
You will never know my name

Is it lonely
On your side of the glass?
Are you happy there
Or has the feeling come to pass?
Do you know a strangers touch
From a helpless romantic
Who doesn't know that much

I guess there are those
Who live inside their radios
To escape from the pain
In the world that weve all come to know

Then there are those
In need a womans gentle touch
For when life pulls us down
And it all gets to be too much

They hide in their rooms
Hide in their minds
Can't seem to read between the lines
When the hard times fall
You know music says it all

They play it in the bars
Among the broken hearts
In the jukebox on the wall
Where the long shadows fall
You know music says it all

Underneath the stars
The city lights dont shine so bright
So hold on to the love
And hold on with all our might

You may be just
Another face in the crowd
But you can't see the sunshine
If you never come around

They hide in their rooms
Hide in their minds
Can't seem to read between the lines
When the hard times fall
You know music says it all

They play it in the bars
Among the broken hearts
In the jukebox on the wall
Where the long shadows fall
You know music says it all

When you've taken the fall
You know music says it all

When the curtain calls
You know music says it all

My beloved human,
Do not weep for me
Or become stuck in yesterday
While I was still here.

Do not remember me
For who I was
But for who I am now
With the promise that
God loves even animals.

Do not look to the ground
With pity or regret
I know the many tears you have shed.
Look up to the sky and smile
For I am always with you.

Just on the other side
Of the rainbow bridge,
There is a wondrous place
Where you play ball every day,

And a place where there are
Dozens of mailman
That are there to be chased away.
Cats are there and hamsters, too
Somewhere far beyond
The sky so blue.

A place where there is no pound
To be locked away.
A place of bright blue skies
And never gray.
We will make endless walks
Beside the crystal sea
Oh my human what a place to be.

Oh my beloved human,
Don't shed a tear,
For I am always near.
My beloved human,
Create a smile for me,
And think of the beautiful place
That I am meant to be.

Hold on to the memories
Of you and me
Tucked inside your heart so tight
That will keep you warm
On cold dark nights.

Somewhere far beyond
This world, you'll see,
There is a beautiful place
Meant for you and me.
My beloved human,
Just on the other side,
You'll find me.

One tragic afternoon
As I recall
Traveling home
My body weary
And soul stricken with grief
I opened the door
As my eyes they did deceive me
I froze- and stared in disbelief.

In a series of bewilderment, yes,
My blood ran cold
And my body trembled with fear.
There she stood
With her piercing eyes
Much as a smile
That seemed only the dead could hear.

And with every reason  I tried to find
I found none,
And with every question I held in my brain,
One by one they shortly fell,
For why she was here only she could tell.
My heart felt ready to burst,
As my very thought was
She would drag my very soul, to Hell.

There she was
A look of all evil,
Her black clothes
Flowed with the every
Spoken thought of sin.
How poorly did she hide behind this mask
As I truly saw such evil within,
As she stepped closer
Her eyes caught mine
And met me at the door
With a grin.

She was a bird
That fed on knowledge
And poured it into our mouths
Waiting patiently for us to fly.
She is a warrior
Who wears her scars as medals
For she is on the winning side.
She is a bear, ferocious and strong.
And God help the man
Who pose as threat to her cubs.
She is a mother, brave and beautiful,
Who sacrifices so much for her children.
She was a magic doctor,
Who's kisses made
The wounds heal instantly.
She is a friend when there are none
To be found.
She is my mother.

"You will never fulfill your dream
If you do not finish that book."
I'm tired. I'll work on it more tomorrow.
"What if tomorrow never comes?
Then what?
Do you want the title to become:
'Hank Love's unfinished works'?"

Of course not, but I can't necessarily
Writeif nothing comes to mind.
"That's because you gave up
While you were ahead.
You thought you had
All the time in the world to do it in.
But today's words
Will be tomorrow's reminder."

I remember how I found you
In a cold area all alone
Longing for your voice to be heard.
I picked you up and brushed you off
And went on to show you to the world.
Many people were unappreciative
While others were quite glad,
As they saw the voice of reason
And the talent that you had.
I remember how I had you to myself
You were a great idea,
And a greater friend.
How I wanted to put you on a shelf,
And protect you until the end.
I wanted to show you to everyone,
Let them hear what you had to say.
Many people brushed it off
But you were the reason
Some people were still alive today.
We went on to share a message
Of hope through good
And bad times ahead.
Our story moved through those in need
And even got others out of their bed.
You are my friend
And I'm glad I found
What other people lost
Or could not seem to find.
I cherish the bond we have
And depart with the life we left behind.

My Own Version of Clementine (Oh My Darling song)

In the mountains
Thro the valleys
Lived a girl with hair so fine

She had soon been
A poorly widow
And her name was Caroline

Oh my darling
Oh my darling
Oh my darling Caroline
You never saw the roses for you
That I held poor Caroline

And the husband
Whilst he laid there
She remained clung to his side

Never leaving
Always pleading
That she would soon never cry

Oh my darling
Oh my darling
Oh my darling Caroline
You never saw the roses for you
That I held poor Caroline

And the warm days
Turned to winter
And the thorns fell from the pine

When they found her
Thro ice that bound her
And laid to rest dear Caroline

Oh my darling
Oh my darling
Oh my darling Caroline
You were lost but never lonely
Found again, poor Caroline

One voice cries in the wilderness
One voice cries alone
One voice calls the storms to cease
One voice to atone

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

One man walks like a miracle
One man represents
One hand stretched far to the east
The other to the west

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

Friday morning, like a velvet rose
Up the hill, comes a brand new day
Free at last, ah they took your life
But they could not take it to their graves

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
