The Things We Do
Hank Love Feb 2020
He rents a room
Cast in gloom
Trying to find a voice
That's not his own

Hes growing tired
The medication won't work
Hes still alive
But he's alone

The things we do
For fame and fortune
The shadows we see
Against the wall
And the voices we hear
That scream in our ear
Is enough to make a grown man crawl

He locks himself
In the bedroom
He hasn't seen the
Sunshine for days

And hes trying to find
Some peace of mind
Working on the role
He wants to play

The things we do
For fame and fortune
The shadows we see
Against the wall
And the voices we hear
That scream in our ear
Is enough to make a grown man crawl

He's got a laugh
But hes not happy at all
And he smiles
From ear to ear

Yes they think hes mediocre
The man they call the Joker
But all he needs
Is a kind voice to hear

The things we do
For fame and fortune
The shadows we see
Against the wall
And the voices we hear
That scream in our ear
Is enough to make a grown man crawl

I wrote this song for the beautiful life we lost so Early Heath Ledger. I wrote this song to honor his life and all of the things he had to go through.

You're worth more than just pretty words.
You're worth the truth in them.

Never to be hurt, is never to have loved.

The birds that bear no burdens
Do not cry when they fall instead of soar
You will not see them gathered on your branches
They will not greet you when you walk outside your door

The birds that bear no burdens
Will not say where they are bound to fly
You will not hear them greet the morning
And they will not be there to say goodbye

The birds that bear no burdens
Will not occupy your view in the sky
For the birds that bear no burdens
Have much more freedom than you and I.

There's a bench in a park
That I know so well.
And on that bench is a man,
Taking his last few breaths.
Passerby's stop to look at the man,
And feel pity for him,
Yet do not send for an ambulance.
He is wearing clothes
That are not his own.
"God help my poor soul," he cries
On that cruel October night.
And this man,
Whom I've never met before,
Shares with me a kindred spirit
That I have not felt more.
And this place, I only know in dreams,
And his time, was long before mine.
Farewell to the late Mister Poe
And to the dreams you left behind.

Hear the clanging of the keys,
The Dreadful keys!
What a mood of sorrow
The wretched piano brings!
How they clang, how its tune
Would drive me mad all too soon!
And the heavens hold their ears
All hours of the night
While I sit in tortured silence
In meakness and in blight!
Even the gruesome metronome
Have I grown to envy now
Its constant ticking with my heart
Has left a feeling so profound!
Hear the constant banging of the keys
The ghastly keys!
I have grown tiresome
Of the unwelcome tune it brings!
Through every grueling sound
Has left me anxious now
And how I rue the day
From this horrid instrument I found!

Amidst the far, and flowering brush,
Dwelt a place, where,
While we were much older,
Still had we remained children
At purest heart.
The fair aroma reconciled my passion-
The constant burning in my soul
Which I had long forsaken.
There it swelled, and my heart,
While it remained volcanic,
And while the blossoms of the field
Were very well endowed,
In childhood hour,
While my spirit still dwelled,
In the passing hour, I did not.

My dearest love
Where are you bound?
Stay and hear
My dismal song so pure!

Is it by fate
We are drawn together?
By no means!
For fate alone cannot endure

Tho as long as you have captivated
My soul in dreaming
My eyes enchanted by maiden fair

I beseech you look no further
To gander at love as no other
For you will find
Nothing there!

What is love?
A forbearance tried tho true!
Where is love if not the present
An emotion grand and Heaven sent
Stay and hear the rhythm
Of my heart
That beats for you!

Wouldst thou feel loved?
Then let not thine heart
From yesterday be worn!
In the world, be one with love
And thine feelings aside not be torn.
The being which thou art,
And things thine eyes have seen,
Take gentle care of thine own heart
And thy wits about thou keen!

Who are you (Who am I)
Hank Love Feb 2020
I'm not a rich man
I don't have a hat above my door
I dont have a bed with silk sheets
Or fancy shoes to throw on the floor

I may not have enough
But what I have is mine
I'm not anybody special
But I'm still in my prime

Who are you
When no ones looking
Where are you
When no one's there
Are you a king on top of the world
Or a pawn without a care

I dont have a house on a hilltop
But I can see the lights just fine
And the stars that always show
With the birds above the sky

I may not have enough
But what I have is mine
I'm not anybody special
But I'm still in my prime

Who are you
When no ones looking
Where are you
When no one's there
Are you a king on top of the world
Or a pawn without a care

Before you dare fall in love,
You have to remember to
Love someone through their storms.
You've already experienced the rain
The only difference is that
You didn't have anyone
To hold the umbrella.

I want to see the world
As the world sought me out to be-
A monster. A villian.
The unethical and absurd lies
Have made me what I am.
While they were in reckoning
With something they were
Yet to understand
And lived in utter horror
Of the monster they created.

Today
Hank Love Jan 2020
Shes living today
Like theres no tomorrow
Smiling the best that she can
She went outside for
The first time in ages
Said Hello to a stranger
Making new friends

Today was a good day
And shes having
The time of her life
Showing me a side I never knew
But I never knew how
Someone could live today
Like it was the last day of their life

She had plans
And she had her dreams
They've all dissapeared
Behind the machines
She said goodbye
To the Broadway lights
But now her name is written
In the stars in the sky

Today was a good day
And shes having
The time of her life
Showing me a side I never knew
But I never knew how
Someone could live today
Like it was the last day of their life

I'm nobody.
A face in the crowd.
A *** in a box cart.
A friend to some,
And an enemy to others.
A razor, if you stand too close to me.
I'm dirt blowing in the wind.
A ***** on prom night.
I'm nobody.

It is a man who poses ignorance when he presents to others a question which reserves the right and necessity to be answered. However, it is a man of high intelligence, what astonishingly answers said question with an answer. With such a quip taken into account, it can be said that there are great multitudes of men what posess public wisdom, which lead lives of secret and unforseen idiocy.
