Mother earth is dying
This much we know is true
She needs someone to make a change
Maybe me and you

There are fires spreading
And it's time we choose a side
For us to figure out
Do we feed it or do we fight?

Look at the headlines
They may be just another face
But they're one of us
They're part of the human race

Put down the signs
Build up the bridges
Show us how we're alike
And stop pointing out the differences
There's another chance
It doesn't sound so absurd
When we stand hand in hand
Across the world

Give them a call
So they know someone will hear
And show them all that they're not alone
We are only human
We all make our mistakes
And we all have our sins to atone

Put down the signs
Build up the bridges
Show us how we're alike
And stop pointing out the differences
There's another chance
It doesn't sound so absurd
When we stand hand in hand
Across the world

When hardship falls
And you don't have a leg to stand
But if you look beside
We'll be there to hold your hand
Well I hope and pray
That one day we will learn
That to be free it's something
We all have to earn

Put down the signs
Build up the bridges
Show us how we're alike
And stop pointing out the differences
There's another chance
It doesn't sound so absurd
When we stand hand in hand
Across the world

Put down the signs
Build up the bridges
Show us how we're alike
And stop pointing out the differences
There's another chance
It doesn't sound so absurd
When we stand hand in hand
Across the world

A library is for those who have eyes to see what's there to not be seen, and the ears to hear that which is not spoken.

Today, I covered the mirror.
My day no longer starts
With the same face that I used to see.
Today, I put away the scale
That, every time I would step upon it,
Would mock and laugh at me.
Today, I put my phone away
To hold a door for a man I did not know.
Today, I pay attention to the words I say.
So I don't have to reap what I sow.
Today, I did not spend several minutes
Trying to brush my hair.
I used to worry about what people say
But today I really just don't care.
Today, I only wore one set of clothes.
I did not change throughout the day
Instead I was content with what I chose.
Today, I took a breath and I let it go.
The pain, regrets, the burdens,
That I thought I would always know.
Yesterday is over,
And today I can't wait to see.
How tomorrow  will be different
From the life after me.

Well I see him on the TV
He acts like a prophet
With the Bible in his hands
But he sounds too Hollywood
And I don't understand a word he says
He says the Good book says
To love thy neighbor
And I almost believed his lie
But the hurricanes are coming
And he won't let us in tonight

We all need someone to make a difference
We all need someone to shed some light
We all need someone to listen
And teach us all what's wrong from right
We all need someone to make a difference

Well he's been homeless
For ten long years
Carrying his cot through the crowd
He's got a son he doesn't know he has
And he's making someone upstairs proud
People usually go from rags to riches
But this time it's the other way around
He's waiting for the clouds to open
But the rain keeps coming down

We all need someone to make a difference
We all need someone to shed some light
We all need someone to listen
And teach us all what's wrong from right
We all need someone to make a difference

Well she's standing on the corner
For the fifth or sixth time today
She don't have much other choice
Cause she's still got bills to pay
The state came and took her son
It's been three years ago today
She says her knees always hurt her badly
But she still makes time to pray

We all need someone to make a difference
We all need someone to shed some light
We all need someone to listen
And teach us all what's wrong from right
We all need someone to make a difference

No title, just a verse I wrote inspired by Jack The Ripper

Eight poor women
With not a chance in life
Are in good company
With a man and his knife
Seven poor women
With no idea of fun
See a shiny blade
And now it's time to run
Six poor women
Who are so sure hes through
Meets the same fate and stranger
With nothing else to do.
Five poor women
Who try to run and hide
Board their doors
But its he who turns out the light.
Four poor women
Who beg the police to take
Their scream is short and dare I say
The last little sound they make
Three little women
Who try and stick together
He picks them off one by one
And writes another letter.
Two little women
Who will no longer try and fight
No will , no run,  and thats no fun
For Jack always loves a fright.

You ask if this is over
And I'm not sure what to say
I know we can't go much further
And I know we've had to pay

But who am I to tell you
What will be or won't
I can't see the future
And I'll tell you that I don't

But sometimes I can swear
That there's still something there
Trapped behind the words we say
I know the pains too much to bear
And it seems it gets no where
But I'll give you an answer
If we make it through today

Though all the fights and anger
Can't lift my spirits high
And through all the danger
We both still close our eyes

I'm not some kind of soldier
To come and save the day
And we both get only older
As our hair is turning gray

But sometimes I can swear
That there's still something there
Trapped behind the words we say
I know the pains too much to bear
And it seems it gets no where
I'll give you an answer
If we make it through today

Some times I'd like to go back
To when we still believed
That our love would make us stronger
And not drive us to our knees

But sometimes I can swear
That there's still something there
Trapped behind the words we say
I know the pains too much to bear
And it seems it gets no where
I'll give you an answer
If we make it through today

When I gazed upon the sunset there
Above the ashen, crystal air
It stood as a statue, great in size
A kindred giant in a dying light.
Never have I seen
And never again I fear.
A Pillar there what looked as gold
Which balanced the Heaven's
In its beaming hold.
And I thought for a moment
Should that pillar fall
The sky would crumble
And crush us all.
But a pillar in the sun, I should say
Shall keep us warm on a freezing day.
