I take a sip of the
ocean
Hoping its perfection will soak into my veins;

Dreaming of its beauty
wrapping itself around me like a blanket.

But perfection is just an illusion
and in the end
the only thing I swallowed
was salt water.

Here I am basking in the sun
wishing it was your
body
warming me.

Even my sun kissed skin
doesn’t taste as sweet as
you.

Our song is playing and goosebumps appear at the tug of my sweater;
your warm hand glazes my back
You squeeze me closer and I melt into you
You complete me.

This garden of ours was built slowly, but with patience we prospered
What once stemmed of dandelions now blooms roses
The sun reaches out to hold us in its arms, but together we are too bright
We outshine it.

Music from your car blares, and our laughter envelopes the streets
The energy of us consumes me
As we sing along, the song begins to drift away.

You give me a look, your green eyes capturing me in them
We hold hands for a moment appreciating the stars.
But even with the sun and the moon on our side, time is not
And our song gets lost in our memories together,
and a new one begins to play.
