My Winter Coat
Marilyn Jean Sep 2020
Here, both wind and cold rain came without a surprise
Yet, the long, weird Summer ended only yesterday
Quite a boring story but it is time for my evening walk
No dog on a lead for me, but my ever wandering mind
My tour is short, unchanged, call it my routine
It feels dark around, yet I don't want to hurry
A few lighted rooms behind windows, yet everything sleeps
Wrapped in my old winter coat I go on my usual route
I could almost mistake what day or what year this is
This scares me a bit for one second, but I dive in denial
So much has changed since last winter, but my coat
Not surprising that comfort comes in this old warming friend
In the pockets, long-forgotten items seem to come to life
Finding once again my fingers as I walk around the streets
Or through my mind very slowly
Then, I am home again, till tomorrow

Lost Dreams
Marilyn Jean Mar 2019
I dreamed dreams I could never share
They haunted me more than I ever said
When I tried to share them here anyway
Often my mind was neither pink nor square
Yet, I decided not to fight, rest nor care

The Blue Corner
Marilyn Jean Mar 2019
Today, it was not going to be
Yet it grew back too fast in me
******* up all joy and pink will
Letting me with a little chill

This too is me and who I am
Happy Mary is never a good dam
Under such a mighty grey cloud
She quickly surrenders to the flood

Sitting in her mood's blue corner
Where she is the only left mourner
Silently crying atop of her mind
She waits for a sharp turn in wind

This is nothing frightening nor bad
Maybe she was born to be a bit sad
Or just was made to like a good cry
Yes maybe this is just the reason why

Simply so, leaving her with some scar
Yet all is good under her bright star
Next like the sunshine is coming out
Fresh from her corner soon she breaks out

Now even, it might happen as I say so
Knowing that her mind can very fast thaw
Having watched one hour died, gently blue
For, again; she wins making it back anew

JOY
Marilyn Jean Feb 2019
JOY
Silent
As the ladybird
Yet bright
As the sunshine
Triumph

Messy
As thunder
Yet sweet
As honey
Elation

Amazingly soft
As silk
Yet warm
As summer
Happiness

Melodie or colors
To a blind or deaf
Like a gentle bliss
Deep at heart
Felicity

Mysterious
As the rainbow
Yet pretty
As the doe
Delight

Restless
As the clouds
Yet full
As moon
Rapture

Wrapping
As a cloak
Here and now
Expected or not
Exultation

Fun and celebration
Smile Baby, smile
For Joy lives
Now, there it is
A treat

Memory
Marilyn Jean Dec 2018
Do not visit me here by day light
Turn up wrapped in haze at night
See, I never ever forget
Holding you dear in my heart
Once the night gives up next time
I shall  feel like summertime
With at heart a spell sublime
Forever sweet and buried out of sight
Visit my dreams, sometimes

Home
Marilyn Jean Dec 2018
There is
No bell, no key and no door
To this place
Needless to travel
Ring, call
Nor enter
For, here it is
The secret place
Where
A silent, peaceful fire
Of love
Burns tirelessly
Home

We The Poets
Marilyn Jean Nov 2018
We, the poets
Come here
Calling our hope
Lost or found

We, all the same
Here, write, then go
Because, who knows
Why not?

We, lost or not
Singing for new love
Like blue birds
Only us

We, like children
Our lines here hang
Softly for all
To see

We the poets
We hide
Write and cry
So true

See, how we are
You or me
Them and us
All the same

Happiness
Marilyn Jean Nov 2018
Happiness wears its velvet smile
And comes singing a gentle song
Always turning the sunshine on
Soon lighter than bird feathers
Softly floating in the moon's light
Happiness truly fills all around
Nesting inside my fluffy heart
Very much like a newborn baby
Peaceful, lovely and ever so pretty

Then out of the blue, all lights down
Affected ever so gently for no reason
But this happiness settling here in me

— The End —
