Strong, beautiful , a woman of color,
Made in the likeness and image of the father.
Why then are you bothered by the color of my skin,
What should be important is the character that lies within.
Physical features are often use to determine how we get our bread and butter, causing us darker women to enhance our color to a tone much lighter.
What if I am black? What if I am a colored Woman? I have rights, same as you do.
Whether black or white, I am created by the same God as you.
Free yourself from the mental prison, the prison where you allow the deeds of your ancestors to determine how you treat us,
Let our drive to rise in unity be highly contagious.
Adios inequality, adieu marginalization
Hola equality, salut acclamation.
Welcome acceptance to pump through your veins
Be who you wanna be and do not allow your inner thoughts to be a life stain.
Shoulders tall, head high, lifted above the whispers and gossips
Be a proud colored woman with the drive to rise when she slips.

Looking over our shoulder as time passes by,
AK goes off and corpse scattered like peas,
Some really gone, some pretend to be gone,
Tears of loved ones flows until it is all dry,
As they sang a dirge lamenting the departures.

Why? Why cause so much pain?
Why defy our generation from the safety we deserve?
Allow our blood to flow freely through our vein.
Please, Please put the guns down, it was meant for those who protect and serve.

Our children needs to go to school,
We need to get to work without feeling like a target,
Don't we have the fundamental right for safety?
Instead we have to keep walking pass the crimson pools,
Pretending its a rainy day and praying for sunshine.

If you were to put the guns down,
Our countries will be a much better place.
So why not put the guns down and make our countries a better place?
If you were to put the guns down,
Then there will be less corpses lying around waiting to be discovered.

Don't shoot, just listen, guns down.
