The Christmas Crow Caw
Barry Dec 2020
Calling out to the flock at Christmas
Reminding those still perched of things that must pass
Our glorious nests almost empty at last!
Wishing the wings of time to bring peace at last
acrostic poem (a poem where the first letter of each line spells a word).

Locked Down
Barry Dec 2020
A sour taste hangs in the still winter air
For from the mouth of those up high ..
We hear the meticulously crafted words!
Pleasing to the demands of the loyal flock
While others, wait for a desperate message of hope!
To calm the hideous feelings of fear, gripping the souls of so many
Each too scared to seek out the comfort of a warm tender embrace
For we might send them to a place of no return
Our once moist eyes .. drying as we bear witness
To what holds us all hostage every second of the day!
A tiny unseen foe!

A winter walk
Barry Dec 2020
With winter comes beautiful fresh snow
A time to experience its wondrous glow!
Leisurely strolling brightly lit streets
Keeping spirts up and warm
Inviting friends to come along!
Nicely chatting, breaking smiles
Giving to each other a gift of time!
acrostic poem (a poem where the first letter of each line spells a word) Walking is the word

The importance of you
Barry Oct 2018
The importance of you

I often forget when talking to you
How really important you are
Not only to me, but to everyone who knows you
And also to those, yet to know you!

I forget when I was your age
Which was quite a different time!
The struggles, I had knowing myself
Let alone, letting others know me!

How I feared the questions from those close
How it felt like a judging probing knife!
Dissecting me up and down!!
The pressure exploding in my head!!

How I wanted to retreat and hide!
So the questions would not pierce me!
And damage my pride and inner self!
Wounds, I could not yet mend!!

For I was still in search of who I was!
Not certain who I might become!
And fearful that I could never measure up!
To those who would dissect me!

I forget that I was like you!
In those younger days!
Uncertain, like jelly in a mold
Still not set, seeking a future to take hold!

I forget that my path forward was not yet set!
For I needed to grow, beneath my own skin
To give it a chance to breath and gain some type of form!
So I could move forward and shrug those gazing razors aside!

I forget, that I was so like you!
And now, I am the one, throwing that pointed tool!
Forcing you to retreat and hide from those sharpened daggers!
To save your delicate growing inner being, from none other than me!

The one who loves you to the core!
Forgets how much, we are alike!
And pushes impatiently with a point on that fragile mold
In hopes, it will hurry up and take some form!!

Forgetting how important you are!

A work Culture??
Barry Oct 2018
A work Culture??

Our heads are down
Out of sight!
To keep the image in flight

We try to smile
And say YES!
We stand together

While we pray for the clock to strike
So we can escape the eerie doom!
Our minds clouded with that public cry

We are great!
Respecting and caring for all, as we are equal!
No tyrants shall find their rein here!!

The message rings of a cloudy truth
The words are so grey and bold
The vicious and young rally round the voters booth

Drunk on todays flavored Kool-Aid
Wearing that hidden truth
So that they might be picked!!

Yes they shout!!!
I made that magic cut
Without much toile!!!

I am in that wave of glory!
With those that carry the  lofty vision
That glory, power and mighty Hand!

Look there! is one of those
The heads down!
Not wanting to play this game!!

The slayers game!
The worker feels the pain!
Trying hard to hide in this realm!

Let’s slay them!
They chant out loud!
There will always be another!

Let’s sing to our new culture!!
So that vulture can wine and dine!!
On the bones of those who believed!

Our work culture!!
Built not for those that believe!
But for the glib chameleons!!

Glory for those, that use the mask
To create great tasks!!!
That  squish the non–believers into drunken submission!!

In the name of our culture!!
We lead that murky way!!
Our personal path, to one’s own  glory!

It must be me!!!
Barry Oct 2018
It must be me!!!

It cant be them!!

For I am the one, left alone!

They go and dine and play!
Inviting, to each other, to be together!

They close a door!
In more ways than one!
a wink, a smile and a secret nod

All coleauges in glee!!
For the lone one to see!!

At first they pass me by!
Coat in hand, so I might not see!!

Now the coat is on!!
They are off, but not in a whisper!
No mention of an invite!!

Talking straight through one!
As if they are a forgotten ghost!
With looks that carry a hidden message

Fearful, I must carry the plauge
I am left to sit!!!
To be alone!!!!

I coleauge I am not !!
Maybe a pest!
Or
even better a  dreaded Foe

No need to hide I say!!!
I can understand!!
I might be different!!!

So no need to hide!!
I shall be pushed aside!!
And Its really ok!

There are no tears to be had!!!
Its really not that sad!!!

If I left they would be glad!!!
When I fell, no one was sad

When I left to meet that knife
No one mentioned my strife!!!
For no one noticed, I had left!

So the feelings, felt
Need not have meaning here!
For they are busy, with each other!

So It remains best!
So please do not hide
On my simple account!

For it must be me!
