As I knelt down
Looking at the broken bread
My mind was taken down memory lane to the night just before he was betrayed
How he instructed them to always do this in his remembrance
It resembled his body
Which was given as a sacrifice for our sins
His flesh was left wounded & stripped for our healing
All this torture for a crime he did not commit
His only crime was love
Which saw him pay a debt he never owed
Because we owed a debt we could never pay
Starring at the cup with his blood
My tears dashed down my cheeks uncontrollably
I was reminded of how my salvation came before even my birth
How my sins where forgiven even before my repentance
I remembered how just a drop of it shook the foundations of the earth
As I received his blood & flesh I felt a deep conviction
That indeed I was purified
Because I had received the Lamb of God
Who takes away the sins of the world
I felt a renewal in me
A new man being created in me
Because for me... Holy communion ceased to be just a religious ritual but it became a spiritual exercise & encounter
