Poems are made by fools like me
But only God can make a tree
My favorite poem is Trees by Joyce Kilmer....this is the last two lines of the poem

My first recollection of life was "Hey Jude" on the car radio
I thought that was the coolest thing I'd ever heard
But at three years of age how much living have you really done
And from experiences what have I learned?
Looking through electric blue

Then I was ushered through The Seventies
Outside a world in turmoil, inside me a battle raged
As this introvert digested all that he's seen and heard
And at decade's end was coming of age
Still looking through electric blue

So came The Eighties and poser's dues were due
This dillatante joined an air band every Saturday night
Loved'em and left'em
Does that light have to be so bright?
Still looking through electric blue

Through the Nineties and as the Millenuim approached things
                          seemed out of place
Kids are kaliedescoping everything
A change of guard I suppose, but I don't leave my post willingly
But I do leave a legacy in my poem tome
Still looking through electric blue

I forgot to mention the most important event
And before I close it must be said
That even though one day I will die
I will not be dead
Now looking (with a new perspective) though electric blue
Thank you Nadine, for the title

I try to escape
From you there's no place to hide
Following me from the inside

I rub my eyes twice
Your walkin' through walls like a ghost
How do I let you go

Along comes silence
And the prison that that brings
Time to think of things

Got to get on home
Falling down the well beaten path
Fallout aftermath

Catch me I beg you
Don't just stand there and wait
In cadence of gait......

  do something

Sinner and saint
Struggles writhing in my head
Are you really dead?

Am I in a dream
Only as it may seem
I am music, I am the notes
You once were the wreckage on which my soul floats
Now I am the maestro, I am also first chair
And now the crescendo (and you are not there)
And it's okay that it's not you (I've found someone new)

All colors came from three
The primary Trinity
Amaranth, Burlywood and blue
Phlox and Pesimmons to name a few
Magenta, Tawny, Zaffre and Zomp
It's bomb blast and bombast and pomp

Under pacto arco iris
We have our first kiss
The world will always welcome lovers*
Especially the giddyness from under the covers
And so it is an eternal dream
            we seek
"If I spend $2.98 on a dream
It should at least last a week"
*from the song "As Time Goes By" from the movie Casablanca....end quote from Theodore "******" Cleaver.......pacto arco iris (Spanish) is the covenant God made with man to never flood the Earth again (I use that covenant here in a broader sense of all the covenants God made with man)......Notice the hope in stanza three contrasted to the futility in stanza one.......Also there is a trinity of music (stanza one) colors (two) and love (three).....Copyright 2020

My heart's hedera [†]
Like two paragraphs
It breaks [selah]
     between you and I
It breaks [selah]
and aches just to look at you
It breaks [selah]
     when we fight
And you leave for the night

My heart's hedera [†]
Now twain
Let no one put asunder [selah]
What God has bade
It breaks [selah]
An acceptable sacrifice
[Ampersand] we are humbled
Broken and contrite

My heart's hedera [†]
It bereaves [ampersand]
As it reads a meloncholy missive
It breaks [selah]
and at the end of our dirge
It beats for one last time

(And like a hedera [†]
But also a pariah
For further breaking
and lamenting of this idol factory
Consult the prophet Jeremiah)
Copyright 2020.....† in punctuation is a dagger.....A hedera is suppose to be a leaf, but looks more like a heart (at least the ones I've seen)

Even though it was a stolen kiss
You have the most kissable lips
Soft and receptive
And I’m easily verklempt
And though it was only once
All these years this kiss I’ve kept
Kept in memory one frozen
Yet an ethereal moment we shared
By the stream ichorous a letter
Read again and again in a dream
It’s the best kiss I have ever had
On your porch, remembering
As if it we’re yesterday
