Joy of Children
Michael Obasiolu May 2018
Children are a blessing to the wise, an expense to the foolish
To the future a rightful bride, and a groom to the truest

A vanguard to places never seen, soil never stepped on
Speakers of things never heard of, and doers of deeds beyond timid belief

Strong for the sake of our remembrance, they toil to retain our essence
Even long after we are gone, our breath remains with their presence

O future son! And my future daughter!
I will devote my very existence to your being,
My every move and thought to your feelings
Though I cannot see you, I imagine you wholly complete
From head to feet
A shadow along my path, and a support to my gait
I wait in patience, anxious at your arrival I remain.

Generals of Clamour
Michael Obasiolu May 2018
A weary Antigonus prodded by a demon on his blind side,
Screamed to be risen, resurrected for one last time.

'Kings of men we were, but in things of men we failed',
And now torment in hades we shall face.

The others yelled in anguish all about their lines,
Even Alexander out of his element in mustering men on whom he placed their crowns.

Orders rang from every corner, dictates of former generals of power,
Beseeching men to stand and not cower.

For the wars of earth would ne'er be over,
In this hell, they shall be fought and lost times moreover.

Because men wish to dominate and sanction,
That which was always placed out of their functions.
The fleeting nature of dominion. no matter how long. The complexes that spur these deformed thoughts can only be cured fro inside. lest they follow a man all the way to hades.

Marilyne My Jewel
Michael Obasiolu Aug 2020
From start to finish, sun to moon,
I remain with love immune, to stress and strain,
for your beauty, and much more for you.

You are a jewel, woman of beauty,
Christened a dove with heart of love eternal,
To me, a queen of the sky, land and water,
Without prodding, I don the livery serve your orders.

By a genie, I was asked a wish to make,
An item of wealth, maybe something lush or plenty,
gold, treasure or lands of the earth.

I sought one thing, more precious than all the mentioned,
of value wider than mountains or gold and of the former of the latter.

For a heart soft pure and bejeweled,
a damsel ebony cute, smart and regal,
Pressing the genie I asked for this princess, whom was all I desired,
And to my delight I got you,
a woman of more virtue and riches than all toward which I aspired.
For Princess Marilyne Kiptoo
