A mask
Elias Jan 2018
A crooked world full of pretentious *******

I myself am one of those
And probably so are you

We humans speak of evolution
But with every step we take ahead

We only delude our own pain so it stays away for just, an other day...

We wake up, wash our faces, brush our teeth and hang a mask upon our faces just so we are accepted.

We smile, we laugh, we keep moving, letting life pass by while wearing a mask just so it hides our tears.

Such pretence, such skillful trickery, and all so that we forget the pain, by having no time to think about it during the day.

And at night we drink. With a bottle full of wine in our hand, we look out the window and wonder when we are going to fit in

Fit in? "How do the others manage", we think to ourselves, and all that, just because we are too blind to notice the same old mask on the face of everyone else other than us.

A smile i cannot forget
Elias Jan 2018
I saw her from afar
a beautiful lady with a scar
No, the scar wasn't on her skin
rather in her heart as she had been hurt

Too many times for someone to count,
but she smiled, she smiled brightly and with
no fear, she smiled like she was happy
something I could never do.

I grew up having everything one could need
but never could I smile like that, I could never
do anything other than fake a smile and that smile
that I faked, was no more than an ugly substitute.

I could never be happy, never could say honestly
that I enjoyed a second that passed by, why that?
I wonder that myself. And as I wondered, I drunk.
I drunk some whine as I sat in front of my window.

Out of my window, I saw faces, thousands
of them, and yet I never saw such a satisfied smile
I wondered why, and then I remembered her's as she fell
mere seconds after that screams were heard and her life was at an end.
