Christina Kelly Dec 2017
Sitting in a car at the gates of the cemetery with an aunt
She look out to the graveside where her family gather
All the while feeling deep sadness and wonder why she can't
Why am I sitting here, when i really just want my Mother

Did I make my Mummy disappear and Daddy be so cross?
I heard him call so loudly and then they all just cried
People came and went and said sorry for your loss
She didn't know what it meant, so called out that Mummy died!

Little Girl Lost
Christina Kelly Dec 2017
The little girl is silent, listening and watching
She hears them talking loudly and sometimes whispering

She feels invisible yet wants to disappear
She has this inexplicable, always there feeling of fear

The little girl doesn't ever feel she belongs
While they laugh and smile while singing songs

Everyone around her hides a secret behind their face
She wonders who will be next to vanish without a trace

Christmas
Christina Kelly Dec 2017
It is Christmas night
turn on the tree light
now only two gifts under
listening to distant thunder

Thinking of all the recent madness
masking any hidden sadness
correspondence to old friends and folk
pop the bon bon and share a joke

Christmas is about the birth of a King
yet as we rush to buy the bling
I think we sometimes do forget
getting caught up 'to be in the set'

The sun will be
Christina Kelly Dec 2017
Hello, hello, is there anybody there?
I see you look back and only stare
Hello, hello, does anybody care?
I see you look back and lay your soul bare.

Yes, there is always somebody about
There is no need to scream and shout
Just wait for your dears to come out
And stop all this loitering like a lout.

The sun will be shining even if you don't see
The night will end and the sun will be
The birds will sing and set your heart free
Just look for the glint and listen for the glee.

The Year that Is
Christina Kelly Mar 2020
We started the year carrying such great fear,
So many folk needing to don firefighting gear.
Prescious lives were lost amid the cruel fire,
Wildfires wreak havoc on the already dire.

Then out of the flames, love and giving arise,
Many dig deep in their pocket amid the demise.
Selfless firefighters thanked for work via songs,
Turning away from the any governing wrongs.

When in the background away from our soil,
In a distant setting, a virus comes to the boil.
It becomes very serious, they are all locked up!
Nothing in or out, but too late, it will erupt.

Travelling via people on planes and on ships,
So many laughing and enjoying their last trips.
But alas, soon laughter gives way to our fears,
Once again we are worried and brought to tears.

This virus catches up to most every world shore,
No matter your status, the rich and the poor.
Become infected with this Russian Roulette,
Who will survive this, but who will it get?

We pray for our future as this Covid unfolds,
So much sickness that dear lives will be sold.
The Doctors and Nurses fighting for our lives,
Most will recover but so many won't survive.

We must look to our future after all this is done,
Our brave new world won't resemble the old one.
Move forward we must, with plans at the ready,
We will hold hands together, strong and steady.
