Summer's Early Dawn
Beryl Pemberly Jul 2017
The sun is creeping through
Taking it's time
to light the wee morning hours.
Brighter it becomes
Blue skies shining too
Good Morning to you,
Says the world.

Darkness still looms
from the south,
The sun pierces
thru the eastern sky.
The light spreads
across the horizon.

I'm sick of coffee,
way too much
in the night.
The light warms
the castle dawn.
A buck & fawn
in the valley

Bright yellows blinding
strengthening
eyes squinting
golden rays filter
thru dark eye lids.
Dew on the window
dew on the grass
wet feet step
across the lawn.

Pixies blowing
in the wind,
fairies dance
in a ring,
Summer is
at the bend,
Leprechauns
tripping to greet
the day..

Leaves Upon the Wall
Beryl Pemberly Jul 2017
The shadow on the wall
reflect the aspen grove
outside my window,
leaves shimmering
shadows flickering
peace reflecting
on the wall.

Hunger
Beryl Pemberly Jul 2017
Orange and pinks fill the morning sky,
scattered through gray clouds
Smoky clouds like the mountains
scattered through tennessee
business  and street signs
come into view,
reminding us where we are in life
Hunger pains  and hopelessness rule
the homeless
Hopelessness in humanity
Til someone reaches out with a smile
a cookie or two, a soda
Rally's fries and an apple pie
renew your faith in the kindness of others,
An older woman reaching out
with the gift of two hamburgers,
and her testimony of  the Lord.
I then am reminded of my Samantha
that I have not seen since our car broke down
over four monthes ago.
I place one of those burgers in a bag with the pie,
I fill an empty juice bottle with Dr. Pepper
and place them on a light pole,
so that someone else may eat.
When was the last time you thought of someone else
in your hunger or in your loss.
And did something about it, even something so small as a kind word or an act of kindness.

Shivering with cold,
waiting for the bus.
Wind is gently blowing,
but cooler yet.

He's coming
home by train
Bringing warm
breezes to ease
my sneezes,
to warm my heart.
To fill a void
I had from the start.

Dark clouds hang over,
the sun peaking through
the gray clouds,
Covered by a shroud
the man and his wife
come to life
Overcoming all strife.

Together they can
conquer all,
Climb the highest wall,
or the tallest tree.
Industrious as a bee,
the strength of seed
The seed of thought
before action,
Thinking things thru
like me and you!!

1974 Javelin
Beryl Pemberly Jul 2017
First car of choice
1974 Javelin in green
poised as a muscle car of sorts
great for taking me to see sports
traveling up and down the highway
sliding in and out in traffic
trying to keep up with my dad
What was that Green Streak
that just flew by.
74 Javelin with a 12" steering wheel
Beautiful car,
beautiful star in my young life.

Summer Rain
Beryl Pemberly Aug 2017
Double rainbows
before a rain
Cloud cover all day
rain descending in buckets
no thunder of such
no lightning
just a good summer rain.

Tender & Sensitive
Beryl Pemberly Jul 2017
I look up from my desk
in walks my sunshine
Tall as an oak
immovable
viable
real
love as it should be
viable
real
strengthening
powerful
perhaps it is but a dream
a dream of reality
a cloud of softness
tenderness
sensitivity

An Unlikely Rose
Beryl Pemberly Jul 2017
Monicles, broken eye glasses
held together by some beads
resting on the bridge of my nose,
A very unlikely pose,
for an unlikely rose.

Listen
Beryl Pemberly Aug 2017
Looking up, gazing into his eyes, watching his expression, wondering what he is thinking, pondering his feelings, watching him slip away,

Tired he reaches for her. She reaches back, secure in his arms, secure once again,  Protective, strengthened. No ***, I am not going anywhere, now , close your lap top and listen.
