Without poetry...
miss adventure Oct 2021
Life without poetry is like soil without rain
Leaving land barren and nature in pain
Life without verses leaves us thirsty and dry
Relying on memories, only making us cry

Life without words is like bread without butter
Our brains are a jumble of thoughts we cant utter
Unscramble the past, and find peace in the Now
Picture the beauty of blossom on bough

Use all the senses, the touch and the smell
Feel the way back from where we all fell
Let us fill up the pen with scarlet red ink
Write lines in colour and join up the link

Life without poetry is a bell without ring
So put down the words when we burst into spring!

This fractured world...
miss adventure Oct 2021
The moon is looking down
on this fractured world
And she's smiling
a wry, weird smile
All knowing, all predicting
the devastation
But the moon also has compassion
for us
And is sympathetic to our plight
She knows we will fight...

The moon is looking down
on this broken planet
And she is praying
That we'll come good
She sees the future
She knows the cost

But we, the optimistic
The lovers of life
Will strive
And live and love with hope.

When the lights go out...
miss adventure Feb 2020
What would happen if the sun died
and the stars no longer shone
Would it be as dark as these moments feel
With no hope to call upon?

What would happen if the moon should freeze
and its craters turned to ice
Would it be as cold as these long days
When we long for a paradise?

When the lights go out
And the world turns black
We pray for a miracle
To bring normality back

Was it all planned?
miss adventure Feb 2020
May all your wildest horses be tamed
And canter across golden sands

May all your geese lay golden eggs
And may you fulfill all your plans

May all your dreams be realised
With the ones who are special and dear.

May you sleep peacefully at night
Knowing I'm no longer here

Was it planned
when I tenderly held your hand?

My final home...
miss adventure Jan 2020
And when I reach my final home
Leaving all the folk behind

I'll walk beside the fairy rings
and ease my troubled mind

Gone will be hurt of yesterday
With the lust of earthly desires

In a clearing in the mountain
I'll burn my past on funeral pyres

Along with it goes ego
All pride and avarice

Finally, spent and weary
I will lay down my head in peace

Crumbling walls
miss adventure Aug 2017
We thought the storm
would clear the air
But the atmosphere
is thick with smoke

I'm going to choke

We imagined the rain
would wash away
the sins of the past
Make us clean

And I want to scream

Because as soon as you
walked into the room
Lightning struck

What will it take
to bring back the sun
and a brave new moon?

Now there are cracks
in the foundations
Crumbling walls
Fissures in floors

Much like my life

Striking of knives
miss adventure Jul 2017
Suffer I must
to have gains

Torment of loss
storming veins

Striking of knives
only maims

So end now it must

We are killing
each other
through lust

Leave me alone
I am fine on my own

Find yourself if you need

Sow your oats
and your seed

I concede

I walk past your headstone
miss adventure Jul 2017
The ones underground
They are safe in the knowledge
That their God they have found
Ageless, timeless, forever young
Every anniversary passes
as another Psalm is sung

We who are left
Have to get through each day
I walk past your headstone
And each time I pray
to God to deliver me
Through another painful day

Roses are blooming
On the place where you lie
Their scent overwhelms
and perfumes tears that I cry

Their aroma I'll remember
'Tis better than your death
Sweet scents will surround you
'Til I draw my last breath
For my mamma
