The Beginning and End
Tyler Erhard Apr 2013
In the Beginning
Explosions scattered the newborn universe
Chaos strewn everywhere
Mountains were forming
Glaciers were carving magnificent oceans
Entire continents shifting, moving, gliding
Never content with their home base
Earth given a new face, every day as the process
Continued, the machine turned
But one thing never changed, and that is chaos
Beautiful, unrelenting, happily angry chaos
Up until now all we know is the chaos that the universe has
Revealed to us, which connects to us as a species and more
Intimately, in each one of us.

But here in the present
We are but an instant in the fabric of time
We are but an atom in the entirety of matter
We are infinitesimally small in the grand scheme
Yet the only relevance is what is the present
Small-minding beings we are

In the end
Explosions will no longer agitate the elderly universe
Chaos will become foreign
Mountains will cease to form
Oceans will dry and the ground will crack
Continents will no longer move
Earth’s face will deteriorate as all life does,
When the machine runs out of gas
But most importantly, in the last second of existence
When all this chaotic beauty ceases,
Our hearts seize, the universe ceases.
The last second before everything becomes nothing
We will see the universe in its unborn state again
We will experience the enlightening beautiful harmony of it all
Once again.
This is my first writing, show some mercy.
