My Dream, a Memory
Trina Lyubov Feb 2013
It slipped my mind what year it was:
A time where rains slashed relentlessly
Against sliding glass windows.

I was in it, in that room,
Whoever it belonged to;
Amazement at a familiar site
That two lovers had once occupied
To escape the world, their everywhere--
As the rain poured, in and through
The stirring of memory from long ago

Beside the window, a table
A video camera playing
What I had watched from long ago
Made by someone, I couldn't name who
Perhaps I had forgotten.

Little papers stuck against the glass
Being battered by the rain
And in that dream, something finally awakened
That things I had chosen to leave to long ago:

The beating, love, the memory
Intoxication and the naked man
Imagined creatures we had made;
Making love beside a teddy bear

I remember, Lord help me, I remember.

This was your room from long ago.
You left it to me when you left for Australia.
Written, perhaps, not as a dream, in the year 2020. I had loved you.

He and I
Trina Lyubov Feb 2013
He and I—
We're much alike:
Both lonely, both unloved.
Both wanting something
we can never have.
January. How he wanted her. How I wanted him.

After the Ending
Trina Lyubov Feb 2013
I still feel that sense
of rapture.
Somehow all this
loss and longing
is outweighed by the
joy
of having met you.
May. The kind of goodbye that echoes only until love begins again.
