Do you remember what happened that day?

In the middle of a battle, supposed allies shot fire

Killing our fellow comrades,  jeopardizing our fight for freedom

Traitors and thieves who stole our rights and lives

All for what? Pride and power?

Don’t forget what happened that day

One that will remain dark in our history

Remember. Remember. May 5, 2020

Before the rooster breaks the silence of black
My body lies still, but my mind is far from blank

Oh how gloomy the weather; so dark, so blue
Tight-shut windows forbidding rain to pour through

Drops of water racing down from the foggy glass
One after another until the moon comes to pass

When will it stop? It’s too loud
Sleep, come to me. You’re nowhere to be found

In a few moment’s time, the noise finally dies down
Only the loud thumping in my chest can be heard all around

As my deep breaths lull me to my slumber
The only witness of the lone sight is the stain of a waterless river

I tried masking my anxiety within words that actually speak about it.

As my eyes soar through the open heavens
I witness a sky full of hopes and dreams
A masterpiece up above so high
That brightens our night with flying colors

With twinkling lights that outshine one another
Infinite stars smile down at me
Endlessly stretching across the universe
Reaching far into the boundless blanket of black

Little as they seem, their glow may look dull
But once the lights are off, the whole world will see
The iridescent diamonds illuminating the cosmos
Thus revealing the true wonders of the galaxy

The cold wind brushed against the warmth of my cheeks
I embrace myself with the thoughts of happiness
The memoirs of my past was all that I have
Broken and helpless, I dragged myself and left
Forcing myself into this billow of smoke
Where not even the dullest light could break through
I can feel the dust in my tongue; the sign of hunger
I'm famished from longing
This sadness wrapped itself unto me and kept me warm
My loud cries were drowned in my tears
I can't stop
I long for my other half with great desperation
But fate has kept us unbalanced
It made us go into separate ways
A bid of farewell for the both of us

A black hole, this empty void
releasing nothing, but the horrors of yesterday
A bad dream that chases me towards Hell;
an unending race of fear
The joy in my eyes was her heart's collapse
Yin and Yang as they would say
Her soul filled with despair,
ran with the rain
In a blink of an eye,
she was gone
I was an ocean without its creatures
Empty as the sky with no stars
Half of my heart was lost in a sea of thoughts
With not as much as a wave of goodbye
or a message that says,
"I'll be back as soon as the sun rises!"
I wait in silence with grief and pain
for her bright smile to break the chains of darkness
Till this day I wait
to welcome you back into my longing arms

A ship sails from oceans apart
Alone, unaccompanied, and lonely
Carrying with it cargoes of hope
Heading towards a voyage to success

Determined to bring home containers filled with happiness
The cruise goes as far as it can reach
But the whole journey doesn't remain peaceful
There were also moments when it was on the brink of sinking

Nevertheless, despite the challenges it encounters upon its navigation
The ship continues to battle with bravery on the vast body of blue
Pursuing its errand as firm as a rock
And returning ashore with great pride and honor
